Dawn of War was the best series THQ ever did. This game was cool though, very similar to the original Total Annihilation which was EPIC with regards to RTS graphics. TA was totally 3D when other shitty RTS games were still using command and conquer non 3D units and terrain.
at 3:00 the siege bots were like yay we killed the huge spider thing(monkeylord spiderbot) and then they see the 2 other spiderbots and more cybran units moving in and say
I like all the innoovations they made in Sup Com 2, but i dont like how they scaled most of it down, the game sys SUPREME and that has told me since Sup Com 1 it has epic size maps, possibilities for very high macro games and last but not least masiive units. Sup Com 2 suceeded with the experimentals, no doubt there, but thereis just so little basic units now, that it has become just another harass/rush game on who gets the first experimental out...
from what i see, people use to prefer things from the past, therefore making Supcom 1 more liked by old fans than 2, isn't it similar to how people like Red Alert 1 and 2 but dislike RA3? though i myself personally prefer Supcom 1 as well, but that doesn't mean we should just go around saying how bad Supcom2 was right? if you think the game is bad, that's most likely because its not made for you, there will be other people who like it for sure.

Most people who tried SupCom2 were the fans of SupCom1, and they didnt like it since it wasnt as complex and experimentals are weaker. It is mostly elitism, I gifted 3 copies of supcom2 to my friends on steam who never played supcom1 and they all loved it. I own both supcomFA and supcom2, and love em both in their own ways
Supreme Commander 2 is much better than Supreme Commander 1 and this was already very great.
A few points in which Supreme Commander 1 was worse or what is in SP 2 better
1. The buildung times are way to long. For example you already need 1min + for normal Tech 1 Tanks and there are also experimental Mashine which need about half an hour.
2. Experiments are way too big and very overpowred
3. SP 2 has very much more options with the technologies

Supreme commander 2 is a dumb down version of supreme commander, supreme commander has 3 tech levels + experimentals which are like game enders however all experimentals counterable, supreme commander 2 starts of as tech 3 and they have experimentals which are used way more often and dont seem to be powerful at all, compared to SupCom 1 atleast, also the research is added instead for the lack of tech levels.
1. That's how SupCom1/FA was played. Beauty in complexity. Managing the complex credit system economy is integral to your strategy. (what to assist, building synergy, upgrading mexes, managing energy etc.)
2. That's the point of experimentals; they're game changers. But in 2, it's easier to spam them.
3. Agree. Research adds more depth.
If only they retained the mechanics and pace of FA + 2's system-friendly graphics and flowfield. 2 would've been better

It gave us a unit shooting cannon but the maps are so small it's barely worth building as apposed to transports. It simplified the economy but also dummied down the unit variety. It nerfed sheilds, but did so too much and made base construction difficult.

in terms of how each game is, Supcom 1 is for the hardcore RTS players who like commanding huge armies while maintaining a stable economy. Supcom 2 is for the First-time RTS players who like to keep their armies small and their economies simple, while constantly making their units better......but this is just my opinion
Why ask if it`s good or not when you can find out yourself you never know the person you ask for information might have a different opinion than your`s when you play the game itself you never know he/she says it sucks but you find it Awesome or the the way around.....
If you want to buy 1 of the 3 installments for this game, then scratch supreme commander 2 off your list, it's pretty much a completly different game and it sucks arse. Seriously get both supreme commander and forged alliance, it will be a mistake just getting 1

personally I like both supcoms but i bought the second one first loved it and found out some more about the first bought it played it and understood it better than if I hadn't played supcom 2 at all. I think off supcom 2 as a way to introduce people to supreme commander

I have a quad core with a good nvidia 9800 GT vid card and 8 gigs of RAM but supcom forged alliance gets only 30 fps on highest detail. So yeah, this game is hard to run but it is fun
@r9delta I didn't know how I could directly ask that. From what I've heard of SupCom, it's not if you can run it, it's if you can sustain it with many units on screen without having to dumb down settings. Can I sustain it lol?
@TheDARIEN54321 That's the exact point he was making. SupCom2 is rated at E-10+ while CnC is usually at least rated for people 15+ with many of the more recent being for fans 16+. It tries to create an environment for soft core mass nuclear attack and pretty much fails as a result due to the paradox of that concept.

first of all, it takes WAAAAAYY too long for you to build anything in supcom1. second of all, a experimental is practically a whole army. third, 1 nuke can just make you start over you're entire army, which takes about 30 min.

in supcom fa you can play 4 different races, ok theres only one epoch, but you begin with tech 1, then you upgrade to tech 2 and tech 3 and then you can build the experimentals, the strongest units

a battleship the same size as a real life battleship. the mavor can fire shells 80 km which take maybe 10 secs to land. meaning they travel at hypersonic speeds.

I could say that some things in supcom were inspired by the first starcraft, and than that starcraft 2 had some inspired by supcom.
Mothership with the Czar for example.

@Mrcasual100 You can get Forged Alliance separately on a different disk. You don't need the original SupCom to play it.

i want to buy it but im rather worried about my pc not handling requirements and ruining the game for me. i don't particularly know much about PC's. i have a emachines64x2 processor. 15 in 1 memory card reader, enough memory NVIDIA geforce....no idea about my graphic card
would i be able to view such large scale epic battles, even if i edit the screen using options?

@mikeypezza I doubt your Emachine will handle the game well. This game needs a good cpu(e8400, Q6600, i5, i7 etc)
You can try though the game isn't expensive at all. Good luck!

first of all, it takes WAAAAAYY too long for you to build anything in supcom1. second of all, a experimental is practically a whole army. third, 1 nuke can just make you start over you're entire army, which takes about 30 min.

I hate how they never fixed the lag issues in this game. like actual game lag. i have a high PC and my computer still cant handle this game after 600+ units are on the map. this game was awesome as fuck, really wish they could fix some of the issues, i play this game over lan all the time with my friends. could have been such a better game

there are supreme commander and supcom forged alliances (standalone addon)
in supcom fa you can play 4 different races, ok theres only one epoch, but you begin with tech 1, then you upgrade to tech 2 and tech 3 and then you can build the experimentals, the strongest units

@bobslayer1881 indeed it is, the atlantis carrier is over 400 meters long, as much as 1 and 1\3 nimitz carrier.
a battleship the same size as a real life battleship. the mavor can fire shells 80 km which take maybe 10 secs to land. meaning they travel at hypersonic speeds.
