Monster man wasn't a horror movie, though...it was a black comedy. Other than that, yeah....most horror movies do suck, but it's a great way to make an easy buck off of teenagers that want to increase their chances of scoring by holding their dates durning the scary parts. I think I'll buy a camera and some fake blood now. =D

I'd argue actually that gore isn't what's chiefly needed. For me, gore isn't scary as much as it is disgusting and makes me sick. Suspense makes a move exciting and more entertaining. It's what you don't see that worries you more then if they show EVERYTHING (and it tends to look fake when they do that anyway)

This was ingenius. I'm in the midst of making my own horror script [for some contest and whatnot] and I definitely follow what NOT to do. I miss the days of Carrie where it really actually scared the shit out of me. Oh and People Under the Stairs too. I love suspenseful movies [Japanese Horror movies, a majority of them, know what they are doing but with hollywood throwing lights and special effects, some people may never enjoy the simplicity of being scared sh*tless]

Yeah. My brother's review for Hostel 2 (I didn't see it) was it was the goriest film he'd ever seen, but not that scary. People seem to have confused gore with fear nowadays, but gore in bucket amounts still looks laughably fake to me and just isn't that scary. Shocking maybe, but doesn't have that lasting twinge of even the older, creepier monster movies.

I'm glad people like this vid though, maybe I'll make another...
