  • what a mess

  • Looks like that there are two spinet organs, but from the condition of the building, there is no way that they could still be working.

  • In the music room is an old spinet organ, I wonder what name brand and model it is? It may no longer work due to the condition of the building.

  • All throughout Ohio so many cities are closing and demolishing the old school buildings and replacing them with brand new buildings. At the same time complaining that they dont have money to run the schools. Go figure.

  • Great video...so crazy how much the building has deteriorated in such little time of it's abandonment! Looks like it was turned into some sort of religious school youth place at some point due to some of the signs...like the one from the pastor about the gym being closed and then the one from the sister about no no one being allowed in her room w/out her permission (in the library) anyhow...I noticed that most of those so called "books" that were not touched were Bibles and Bible type books...

  • WOW!! I went to this school in 1990 in the six grade and the sign on the door said Mrs Helmick was one of my teachers.

  • @fredlwal when did it close?

  • @fredlwal What grade was that? I was born that year!

  • @MissMaddy881 I was there 1989 and 1990.

  • @fredlwal. Wow, what grade was that? Ever since I came across this video, I've been curious about who Mrs. Helmick was. Do you mind telling me about her? It's s ok if you don't.

  • id be salvaging everything i could find in that building

    toilets,lights,fire,alarms even the boiler

    THEY WONT BE NEEDING IT

  • ya the books arent even touched wow !!!! so smart ytown lmao

  • lol all the missing stuff, books untouched hahahahah

  • Memories....

  • I love the song you used! Thats my favorite band!!

  • This hand dryer on 1:19 is a Merchant-Matic and the Boiler machine 1:36 is by The Bayley (or Bailey) Manufacturing Companhy

  • @zx12yder gotta love progerss!!! it spares no one or nothing!

  • i used to pass by this school all the time growing up....like alot of other schools here in youngstown i used to wonder if it would be torn down. There was a huge school on Edwards street that stood vacant for years until they tore it down and built those new "pre fab" homes.

  • oh im stonnnnneeeeeeeeeeddddddddddddddddd just now read descrip LOL

  • @Rdockerywhat cool story bro.

  • nice vid, the first lil bit of the song was eon blue apocalypse by tool.. the second track is.....? it kinda sounds like the mars volta...

  • @Rdockerywhat the woman and the ghosthunter is the second song. it's by lacuna coil.

  • Millerfam6, this school is on the eastside of Youngstown. Its in between Ursuline High School, and Albert Street.

  • whre in youngstown is this. i live in youngstown and have never seen this

  • where can I find this school? I wanna go inside and look

  • thats pretty close to where i live, columbus ohio.

Also there you can get a free whiteboard!

  • hmmmm Not a Catholic or some type religious school yet with a chapel? and all?

  • thay should restore these buildings to their former glory

  • School's out FOREVER! :)

  • can you please tell me what structural integrit means

  • what are those bicycles doing in the school at 1:48?

  • That's messed up, I used to go there when I was a kid till we moved away sad to see a good school go to waste.

  • damn 3:08,huge wast of money, why was this place closed

  • Why did Madison Elementary close?

  • What's the update on the school?

  • @Darthbane1999 The school was torn down sometime last year. I drove by it awhile and seen it.

  • ohhhhhhh Never it out !!!

  • still looks better than all of the other high schools in this country

  • Is this on the east side?

  • Good old Youngstown abandoned like the rest of the city

  • looks abandoned way before 2006!

  • @vwbusssesareforever nah thats what my room would look liek if my mom didnt clean it for a week

  • @coreylawd lol

  • @MissMaddy881 haha now that i think of it, it probably would, theres always lego and bb pellets on the floor, because after you shoot a bb gun in your room you can never say you picked up all the bullets?

P.S i dont recomend shooting a BB gun in your room as i did that 3 weeks ago and my 400 FPS bb gun ___hit my tv :(

  • @coreylawd you could have shot yourself. this girl who goes to my university was accidentally shot in the neck by her brother with his bb gun. if the doctors removed it, it would be dangerous.

  • @MissMaddy881 yes i know, i am very responsible with my bb gun's as of they arent toys and also because of the strict british law

  • The school was razed Summer of 2010.

It went very downhill in the two years since this was shot.

I didn't even go there and it brought me to tears to watch the demo.

  • damn i wanted to see a pool!

  • thanks for exploring and sharing.

Add this to the growing list of THOUSANDS of abandoned and soon to be abandoned schools, commercial RE, hotels, in the rust belt/midwest and New England.

Your right, it has avoided vandals. My guess is the vandals are going to get tired and bored soon.

The building does even look nice or that it ever looked nice. Concrete and cold.

  • We are the only civilization in history that exists among its own ruins.

  • What is it about Abandoned Schools that make them so interesting to explore?

  • You know the mtive because this school was abandoned?

    :) Very beautiful Video!

  • 3:00 pile of computers?

  • Abandoned places are scary. But what makes it extra creepy is the erosion you see. I stayed at an abandoned school in Imabari, Ehime in Japan with the our Boy scout troop and I heard some creepy constant sound at 2AM in the dark room while others were sleeping. Should've gotten some evidence of it though.

  • is it still there?

  • 1:19 - Merchant-Matic hand dryer

1:30 - Bayley Mfg Co. Boiler

  • cool pictures i have an abandoned school near me and it got burnt in the inside in 1985 and stayed abandoned but if gives you the creeps just lookin at it :S

  • @BratzVideo1201 cool! did you used to go to tht skool????

  • @RachelCupcakeCarole LOL! no im 13 but my cousin did in 2008 he went to the skool and made a video about it and yes it was creepy -.-'

  • @BratzVideo1201 I would love to see a video of that school.

  • DUDE! That's en EPIC place man! Just look at all those abandoned things! That would be good for a club house! Or I'd steal all the books, chairs, computers(that work) and some of the stuff that were there. EPIC video. Wish I could go there.

  • WOW i actually use to fo to madison when i was little and geese i dont remember it at all. All i remember is the gym/ breakfast room/lunch room/ aditoruim. and my gym teacher was mean i think his name was Mr carrot or something.this brings memories alot....

  • WOW i actually use to fo to madison when i was little and geese i dont remember it at all. All i remember is the gym/ breakfast room/lunch room/ aditoruim. and my gym teacher was mean i think his name was Mr carrot or something.this brings memories alot....

  • I went to that school! it was in the early 1990s before my family moved to Oregon. it's sad to see the place in such a bad condition (though i think it was pretty beaten up when i went there). i remember i played the littlest christmas tree in the school play when i was in the 1st grade. does anyone know if they ever kept the records from the students from that place?

  • strange but very interesting

  • Those walls have seen a lot of ass kickings! Still waiting on that further notice as to the gym closing at 4 p.m.. I would totally rip some drum rolls on that kit at 2:49.

  • Is this building already demolished?

  • how long has this place been abandoned?

  • its really abandoned thats really scary

  • what state is it in now

  • lol id be afraid to be in any empty buildinng alone, even ones that ARENT abandoned lol

  • damb i wish to visit that place one day i really like abandoned houses and buildings but why did they abandoned this school?

  • late 90's it closed i went to madison when i was 9

  • Wow. This video brought back alot of memories. I went to this school in the 1st, 2nd and half of 3rd grade. from 1976-1978. It was like seeing a ghost.

  • I went there in 1990 for Kindergarten. I can't believe this happened. It's pretty depressing to say the least. The last time I was there, the school was so full of life so to see it like this hurts.

  • @GabeRealTV what was it like? who was your teacher?

  • @MissMaddy881 It was great. Full of life. My teacher was Ms. Reyes.

  • @GabeRealTV did the school have some sort of chapel service and religion class? i can sort of sympathize with you about missing your school, only i graduated about three years ago.

  • @GabeRealTV i was also wondering if you knew the teacher at 5:04.

  • @GabeRealTV did this school have chapel services and a religion class?

  • @MissMaddy881 No. It was a public school.

  • @GabeRealTV ok. the painting of Mary and the chapel must've been there when it was a community center for the homeless, right?

  • it looks gross in there

  • nice nice,have a climate

  • did 1;08 have a jail cel door?

  • hey i live like 45 min away whats the address to this place lol .... is it still there ?

  • ...very interesting vid. Does it still exist?? Do you know what are they going to build there?

  • why is this school Abandoned

  • OMG!! I'm in shock!! I went to this school from 1st through 4th grade...After my 4th grade yr the school was closed down..It was not a Catholic school it was a learning center meaning that there was more than one grade per class...my 1st class was all 1st graders...but after that 2nd through fourth my classroom was on the 2nd floor and I was in the same class with the same teacher (Mr. Banks) all 3 years. I can't believe how bad the building looks...kinda sad!

  • just to think it took only 2 years for it to deteriorate like that i feel bad i wish i could give him the money to renovate it ='(

  • lol what the fuck happened!

  • Great job - the music goes well with the vid

  • Does anyone know some good abandoned spots in the Dayton area? I have a few videos up but I am looking for more.

  • It is abandoned since 2001? Very trashed...

  • I grew up in Youngstown, born and raised. I grew up on the north side and would pass it most days on my way to Ursuline High School. I knew this guy bought the school in 2001, but I have always been curious as to the the type of school it was before that. I had friends that went to Rayen, East, Ursuline, Mooney and Wilson and never remember anyone ever going to Madison. Anyone know the history of this building before 2001?

  • @charliecmo It was a public elementary school. I went there in 1990. It used to be so filled with life. It's depressing to see it like this.

  • @GabeRealTV ..Thanks so much for the info. I was always curious about this school. What was the name of it when you went there? Was it Madison Elementary/Middle?? It was never a high school, was it? I presume that the majority of graduates went to the original East High School? When did it close? I grew up on the north side, went to Harding Elementary, St. Eds and Ursuline which was nearby.

  • @charliecmo No prob. I went there in 1990. It was just called simply Madison School. It was an elementary school. I lived near Wick Park but I moved back to NYC in 1991. But I know that the school closed in 2001.

  • This is defiantly a catholic school. A chapel? Pastor?

  • wow thats a sad story about the guy who owned this place. you did an amazing job on taking pictures =)

  • Cool video i really enjoy abandoned places espically in Ohio and the music is good to

  • what the hell happened? why was it abandoned with computers and furniture still in it?

  • no shit. wtf? anyone know

  • Probably cheaper to leave stuff they didn't need there than to pay to have it moved.

  • great vid mate.... very well, you captured the atmosphere of the place

    - well done

  • Thanks!

  • cool vid! it gave me goosebumps watching it...scary...

  • Was it scary?

  • That black office chair would look nice and comfy in my office! LOL

  • @Fonzi79 it does look comfortable

  • Awesome video and this is my fav TOOL song thumbs up!

  • of all the abandoned places, buildings, houses, schools

seem to bring the most emotion...

  • where is the ghost at?

  • p.s. Shame about those books.

  • Great photos. FYI: Madison was never a Catholic school; it was public. Chances are, after closing (I think it was closed in the late '90s when I went to school nearby) it was operated as a charter school, like many other buildings in the area. Trust me, if it were a Catholic school in Youngstown, it'd look like that and still be open -- just kidding :) Anyway, you'll probably want to change your info.

  • Thanks for the comment, and thanks for the info! I couldn't find any information about this place online.

  • idk man it has a GIANT picture of mother mary and a chapel...idk of too many public schools willing to do that. that plase wasnt closed in 2003 though i can gaurantee that, my dad bought a school that was abandoned since 1986 and it looked as good as that if not a tad better lol, i'd say this place shut the doors well over a decade ago. and like i said watch for the mother mary painting on the wall ITS MASSIVE cant miss it

  • @bigbadbronco86 That stuff was not there when the school was open...after the school closed down it was used for many other things...Trust me...I went there 1st through 4th and it was a public school.

  • @jenniferhall123 well it says right in the description its a catholic school, and if it was truly closed in 2003 which i doubt it hasnt had time to be used as other thins and still look as crappy as it does

  • @bigbadbronco86...yeah it does but it was not...you can see in the beginning of the video it says " Note Was never a catholic school, the person that made this video didn't know nothing about the school, they just found an empty building and made a video...I lived down the street from this school from ages 5 to 18...this was no Catholic school...the actual school was closed in 95.

  • @jenniferhall123 also what year did you attend

  • @bigbadbronco86 I went there 1st though 4th grade which was 92 through 95...After that it was empty for like 3 to 4 yrs, then some people were using it for many things..as you can see for the John kerry papers inside..this is in a very poor neighborhood...The people that were using the building after it closed were really weird

  • @bigbadbronco86... I remember being about 12 yrs old..and myself and a friend were walking past the school and these men were taking stuff into the school..they were very religious...they said they were gonna clean it and make a club for the kids in the neighborhood..So we went inside but they made me feel uncomfortable and tried to make us run around the Gym...what seemed like forever...they said it was to show God we loved him... I left and never went back!!

  • @jenniferhall123 wow, yeah that sounds pretty creeped out, and we all know the reputation that catholics and little children have! sounds like youre lucky you got ouut without any sexual assault

  • @bigbadbronco86 I know it sounds crazy...and it was..VERY!! That why I never went back...I'm not even sure now that they were supposed to be there...It was only girls that they were asking to come...Now that I think back I was crazy for ever agreeing to go inside in the first place! But I promise it was no Catholic..my mother had a hard time buying us food and clothes and deafinitely could not pay to send me to a private school

  • @alysunrae if its not a catholic school then why is there catholic things there.

like a place to prey and a note that was addressed by a pasture?

  • Im from Yougnstown

  • Silent Hill of course

  • Shit man.... 3:07

  • I live in the Dayton, Ohio area. Just about all of the older schools in this area are being closed down, bulldozed and new schools built in their spot. It seems like a waste but these old buildings are so loaded with asbestos, lead paint and other dangerous chemicals and materials that it would cost more to renovate and clean all of that stuff out than to just build a new school.

  • 4:15 THATS a hella nice office chair! 0.0

  • UPDATE: I drove by this building today and there were large dumpsters all around it. Looks like the demolition/clean-up process is beginning.

  • @skorpion0006 Is the school still standing..

  • jeez, theres still writing on the chalkboards, they left this place in a hurry. wonder why?

  • lol it looks like a prision not a school

  • I woulda smashed up all those computers at 3:05

  • Wow that school is in pretty bad shape. I was just in youngstown sunday and I couldn't believe how bad some places were, compared to 10-15 years ago. Anyway, it's no wonder they abandoned this place, it's probably full of asbestos and other nasty stuff that wouldn't be cost efficient to fix. Sad....

  • I know where this is.

did anyone else think "Fallout 3" while watching this vid? the inside looks alot like the school building from FO3.

  • I grew up in Youngstown, and I am sure that this school closed back in 1995. I was in the third grade then. I'm not quite sure the Kerry/Edwards stuff is there though.

  • @1986Jay Your are right it was closed around 1995 or 96 it was used for lots of other stuff after the school was closed

  • books still on the shelves hmmm

  • Awesome video, i'll might want to drive down there and give it a peek.

  • You're right, the Kerry/Edwards literature dates it to late 2003/ early 2004. Amazing how there is still writing on the chalkboards.

  • the best room that looked like normal was at 4:54 =P

  • This is madison School. Not a Catholic school. My father and all his sisters went to this school. What a mystery as to why the board of education has left all this stuff in the school.

  • What was the address in Youngstown, I mean what street or side of town? The name of it doesn't ring a bell. What a shame but also shows how fast decay sets in. Y-town has sure had it's share when once upon a time it was proud & so well known for it's steel producing capabilities.

  • I'd have to go back and try and find it to get you a location. I'm not very familiar with the Youngstown (actually found this school by acciddent). I remember it was on the East side of the city down some brick side streets. I do want to go back; when I do I'll be sure to record the street names and coordinates on my GPS.

  • Thanks Scorpion.... no big deal, but appreciate that. I grew up here all my life but was unfamiliar with it.. but I do have to admit I didn't know the East side that well.

Reminded me of an old school called Covington and I thought maybe that was it.

  • You're very welcome. I found out that the school is on a street called McGuffy, which goes east off of Wick Ave. just a little ways North of the YSU campus. If you go down McGuffy you will see the front of the school on your left. There isn't much around there other than some apartment buildings, run-down homes, and a couple business that are still active.

  • Correction on the spelling: Mcguffey Road.

  • how did u get in the school. was there a open door or did u break in ?

  • I entered the school through a hole in a main door on the North side of the building. Towards the end of the video I show a photo of the entry point. There was a piece of plywood covering up the hole at one point, but somebody before me had pulled it down. I haven't seen the school recently, but it may have been re-boarded since the day I explored it.

  • @skorpion0006 Its on Mcguffey and logan

  • Wow, it looks like everybody just didn't show up the next day, like how there is still books on the shelves. It also kinda looks like somebody has been staying in the teachers lounge. Cool/Creepy video.

  • If it wasn't a Church based school, then why at 2:16 was there a note on the gym door , from a Pastor? cool vid!!

  • wow...there was a lot of stuff left behind...why wasn't it cleaned up? Lot's of religious/catholic relics around too...also, it's look way too deteriorated to only have been abandoned just 4-5yrs ago??? Strange indeed....awesome video though...

  • That is Madison Elementary School. It was never a Catholic school or a high school.

  • amazing how much stuff was left behind. Why did the school close down?

  • When did this school close and was it a highschool at one time? If so, what was the name?

  • On the front of the school says "Madison." It looks like it closed in 2003 or 2004.

  • Nice work with slides and music. The Teacher's lounge looked like someone was living there. Any proof ?

OMG. There were still books on the library shelves !!!!!!!

It is perfect for the Youngstown Peeling Paint Museum. :)

Kerry-Edwards stuff places abandonment at late 2004.

  • Thanks. I couldn't find any evidence of anybody actually living in the building recently, but a lot of stuff is still the way it was left years ago. There was still old food and such laying around in the lounge. I was surprised to see the building so untouched by vandals, even all of the computers, monitors, printers, radio equipment, and a big screen TV were all still present. There are some broken windows and things knocked around, but no major damage other than deterioration.

  • I attended this school from 1944 to 1950. It was a public school then. I left youngstown in 1988, this is just a small part of the decay of the whole city. It will never be the same. How Sad.

  • Nice video

  • Thanks

  • i didn't know that school became a catholic school

  • Wow, the idiots didnt smash this one up

  • Madison was originally a public school and then was bought and turned into a non-demominational school. It was not owned by the diocese of Youngstown.

  • Thanks for the info, I couldn't find any information about this place on the 'net.
