  • The Aubrey DeGrey stuff is very interesting. I've read quite a bit about that and it looks like he's correct.

Secondly, as to uploading the brain, read some of Ray Kurzweil's stuff.

  • Uploading your mind into a computer. . . there was a scientist on a Star Trek Next Gen episode "The Schizoid Man" who did just that - it worked so perfectly he actually put his mind into the android Data. So, if we could bulld androids like that someday, hey I'm in !

  • actually if you think about it

the android would just be a copy of you,

in a sense you wouldn't go on living as an android, only a copy of you would go living on as an android, unless your brain is actually moved into the android's body then you can go on living as an bio-mechanical android

  • I see what your saying, but would it be possible to transfer conciousness ? I mean either it is created as the result of interacting neurons in the brain or our conciousness ( or soul ? ) is independent of that - like it's plugged in to our brain but doesn't need it to exist. Kind of like the astral body when you project and then return to your body - if you believe in that kind of thing :)

  • If we ever get to the point where we're uploading ourselves im leaving so you wont have to worry about me taking up room, one down a few billion to go.

  • Excelent video Jeremy Webb. I specially liked it because it was more explanations on the Transhuman topics covered on the previous clip. :)

New Scientist keeps amazing us. Great work!

  • so would living in a digital realm be similar to a permanent lucid dream? or would my consciousness cease to exist, leaving only my memories, which could be accessed by a user?

  • By the way he described it, I pretty much think you would be dead if your brain was sliced into many thin layers before it gets scanned and downloaded. What will be on the virtual matrix is simply a duplicate immitation of yourself.

  • right... would that duplicate be self aware, is basically what i was driving at. would i be a program that was only aware when it was running? would i be 'running' constantly? or could users access information that was in my brain like using a google search.

  • In an imaginary future, self conscious computers may very well exist. Your duplicate self will probably be aware of your existence and replicate every decision making down to your cerebral chemistry, it would be true to yourself. Only problem is you will not experience it, for your biological self would be dead, only your digitilze replicate running your personaliy/memory self would exist. It is better than total oblivion, people can still experience your individuality, but you wont. :/

  • YouTube should use that as their slogan lol

"so dont die. Just get yourself uploaded"

  • upload yourself :O

  • erm who told you about youtube

  • "So don't die. Just get yourself uploaded."

Yes! Take the blue pill and it will be all better. muahahaha!
