hey guys adding a tip here, dont be afraid to switch between 3rd person and 1st persond go in third person when looking for a target, first person wen track them and if you lose them go back to third person to try and locate them. visit my channel!
my biggest problem is that sometimes it glitches and my flares don't work or the didididi doesn't go and i just get hit when its still going beebeebeebeebeebee
@XHotShot7 Don't quote me on this, but I believe that is because you are getting shot from a Tank 3rd Seat Missile or a Soflam, which you can't avoid 100% of the time.
@paymon11 hmm, okay its just you know how when your getting locked on it beeps and then itll have a long beep when the guy can shoot you and after that it goes didididi, i mean that it just skips the latter 2 and just hits me when it sounds like hes still locking on
to get from in front of an enemy jet to behind them I fly fast close to the ground then suddenly pull out the landing gears they usually fly by you as your speed is so low and then when they are gone by flick on the afterburners n stay on there tail and kick ass :)
well the extinguisher is good because most jets think disabled means destroyed so they assume you're dead so wait 3 seconds use it and fly far from other jets and repair
the missiles are almost useless, because they will never hit a good player. The best thing is to get really good with the machinegun and use the rocketpods for groundunits.
The missiles are easy to use, but they don't do much. and in the end you have to finish someone up with the machinegun.
I find Radar, IR Flares and Rocket Pods to be the best, but i really like the belt speed aswell since i rely so much on the machinegun
@WLOfails When you hear the first beep, they are trying to lock on you, when u hear a BEEEEEEEEEEEE.etc... and then it ends off with another BE BE BE, like the first one, but! its not the same, (You will figure out later, thats what I did) that means the missiles are on ur tail.
I prefer Extinguisher over flares because I tend to dodge stingers/heat seekers. I can't do it consistently (yet) but I dodge about 7 out of 10 missiles, and Extinguisher gives you a second chance if you get disabled.
I do however thing Stealth is better than Air Radar for obvious reasons, and since AR doesn't show where enemy jets are on a vertical level, it's meh for me.
I think though you should play with the minimap zoomed out at max. Gives better knowledge of what's going on.
@paymon11 cool, can you tell us at what point exactly you switch to mouse? I can see when evading and making sharp turns you use kb, but when ur chasing enemy aircraft u still make rather tight turns when still accurately firing, so that must be mouse aswell.
I hope you are a more experienced pilot now and you should correct your "air radar - useless" comment. It is one of the most essential things for taking out ground units AND dog fighting.
Attempt to dog fight anyone with air radar and you'll die very quickly. Also using heat seekers against other jets is useless (you just mentioned how well flares work).
You shouldn't be attempting to take out any jets with heat seekers any more after you get more experienced.
@unt0uch4 I agree and disagree with some of your points. Air Radar is, for the most part, useless. If you are a good pilot, you are aware of your surroundings. Nuff said.
Heat Seekers are a PRIORITY when dealing air-air combat. If your enemy flares, then you will have a second chance to lock on and kill your target. If he is a good target he will shake you before you can get your second shots off. Period.
I however must say I have been using the guided missiles, which work amazingly w/ Soflam.
@paymon11 I'm going to disagree once again. You clearly haven't had a dog fight against a good pilot - you still need more experience. Now don't get upset and let me explain why...
First let me mention to anyone reading this that you have no experience with rush jets (a10/su25) at the time of this post. Dog fighting is slightly different with those jets.
My post is way too long for a youtube comment, you can find it on pastebin: pastebin(dot)com/GKMRAETD
@paymon11 I agree with the air radar. An experienced pilot does not need to know the precise location of the jet behind him solely because he should be constantly moving until he is behind the enemy aircraft.
However, heat seekers are no use against a good pilot. A good pilot will wait until your missiles are launched to throw flares at the immediate second, ensuring his flares respawn around the exact time your missiles do. You're much better off using the machine gun.
@paymon11 Conditional isn't it... if your opponent is better than you, then yes, he will shake you. At equal skill level, you should be able to keep up with him.
Also, as much as visual awareness is essential and awesome, Air Radar is pretty well acknowledged today as essential, especially for dog fighting. I'd still say that one is very opinion based though...
@mattfan14 Don't particularly like Air Radar myself, it doesn't seem to show enemy missiles like it's supposed to, and the size of your radar display is rather small and can't be made bigger like with the mini-map. I prefer to just zoom out the mini-map all the way and make it bigger, makes it a lot easier to see targets, assuming your teammates are actually spotting for you.
@paymon11 I have to disagree with you about Heat Seekers being a priority. The most useful weapon in a jet is the machinegun. Heat seekers can be easily avoided if the enemy has flares. Also a good pilot can easily out-manuever the missiles. I would recommend rockets since they can help ground units by taking out tanks and other armored vehicles. I find the guided missile useless without the target being laser-designated. Enemies can get out of the vehicle and prevent you from locking onto them.
I find that if you're concentrating on taking out ground units Air Radar can help out a lot!! It lets you ignore the other jets until you see them coming for you on your mini map.
I've been flying jets collectively for about an hour and I haven't met a pilot that can best me yet lol, I can take three on one with just an mg and win. I guess my extensive experience with ArmA II helped alot lol.
