If you read season 6 of Angel which is in comic book form you would know that Gunn turned into a vampire and was bad and then illyria reversed things so he ended up being human again. Its a long story but also understand this is a AU (alternate universe)
This would have been a good Idea except J. August Richards dies in the last episode of Angel....
