Ronnie and vaughn were so awesome to me I also played piano at the time and i used to join right in I was about 8 when i started playing like a session guy at 8 and 12 years old lol smokin !!!!!!
I was young and I remembered making alot of coffee lol my father played piano and sung for many doo woop artist backing vocals as well playing piano I was a small child and his piano playing would fascinate me then to have singers come over to my house cant be beat and get free records 45~s lol unforgettable been collecting ever since have about 20 crates of records45~s and 40 of vinyl
The gentleman that was their manager would be correct I remember all theses gentlemen as a child, ronnie and vaughn were like my uncles I was born and raised in the bronx on elsmere place and also marmion avenue near crotona park my father was also a singer Antone AKA Sonny Davis , theses guys taught me how to sing they would be in my house my father was also a session musician in the brill building they would be in my house jamming and singing to the break of dawn partying bless them all.
To set the record right, no Ted The Wizard Mills, is not on this or any other Topics record, I whould no, I produced all of the Topics Recording since 1968, Both Bobby's as well as Charles, Ronnie, Vaughn have all pasted away, there is only one living member of the still alive and his name is Bobby, not Ted The Wizard I should know I was also there Manager buy the way all of there recordings were for Brothers III Records,
yes the topics outta the Bronx big ronnie mccoy my cousin from elsmere place the bronx, and curtis vaughn from marmion avenue also my fathers cousin such great great memories of my child hood hearing them sing and practice so so wonderful rest in peace ronnie and curtis god bless you fromAndy Davis , Sonny Davis son we are still alive and kickin elsemere place for ever!!!!!!! da bronx
Ted Mills is not on this record and this is not his group prior to Blue Magic called the Toppiks. This is theTopics out of the Bronx, NY who members were Ron McCoy, Vaughn Curtis and others.
Ok thanx for the information .I really got confused especially by the spelling! I do have Teds group downloaded .Great sound anyway!! Thanx so much for the explanation! I will never know these things if people like you do not comment!Very educating!!
I remember back in the summer of '96 when i had bought a cd that had this sick ass rola on it and fell in love with it. i used to put this jam on repeat on my cd player and light up a kj joint and fly.
