I came out to my mom about a month ago, and she had no clue! I was very surprised that she didn't even have an inkling of it. She had the best response ever too.
@n2bbuilding She said: "Honey that's so sweet. I'm proud of you for telling me. I'm proud to have a gay son." And she was so beyond supportive, we're like best friends, and now we're even closer. I asked her if she suspected, and she said no, but I was giving subtle signs, like not having a girlfriend or asking about how to get girls, and I like a lot of things most straight guys aren't generally into, but she just thought I had good taste! I love my mom. I'm glad yours was okay with it too! :)
Greg "Amico Mio! Werner Erhard, EST and later "Life Spring" I believe? I remember of them well, but was a boy myself in their "Hey Day"! I know "Uomo Bello" that your great upload here, detailing your "Coming Out" is getting on as it were! But Bobby Griffiths' (Prayers for Bobby) old lover/boyfriend "Blaine" here, thinks it never too late to tell someone just how proud he , that is I am of you!!
Con L'Amore e Molti Baci! (With Love And Many Kisses)
I think I have heard of the 'prayers for Bobby'. Sorry for your loss. Religious dogma is a tough to overcome. I still have family and friends who think I am on the highway to hell. Which I believe is the one that goes to Orange County.
@MrStrav81 I used to feel like that. My co-workers, employers were the last remaining 'frontier'. I was scared for them to know because of the potential for discrimination. It wasn't until I came out at work that I felt truly free to be all that I am and can be. There was nothing left to hide. I am not only out at work but at the grocery store, in the theater, at the restaraunt, everywhere. Because being gay isn't about the sex it is about accepting myself completely and being open
I work for a company that is very family oriented. People are constantly on maternity leave, or their wives.. They even did a survey for employee satisfaction in my department that asked at the end if you are gay/lesbian. I didn't respond to it, but later they published the results! All zeroes or no response. Clearly, if I had said yes it would've sparked a witchhunt!
@MrStrav81 it might have and it might not have. Why do you believe that people would respond negatively to who you are? Look, I am a firm believer in not telling anyone else what their own personal experience should be. So I will tell you mine. When I finally came out at work, it didn't matter what anybody else thought because that is what it means to be free for me. I no longer cared. All of my cards were on the table and there was nothing left to hide.
@n2bbuilding the truth was purely simple. I came out because some lesbian had been out in the department for years having come out of a marriage with a kid. I saw how everyone treated her. I figured since she wasn't reviled and pushed out then maybe it might be safe for me too. I came out. Then one of our attendings came out. Then we got a new director who was so out. Husband and all! What I found is that the drama was mostly in my head. People had their own lives and they didn't care
hey, love the video. your such an inspiration... well to me anyways. i havent come out, but i recon my mum knows, im just too shirt scared to do it. hope i get a reaction like that :)

Wow, Werner Erhard and est, that makes me feel old at 46!
I can't help but being so proud of you my friend! The world you will be
"out" in is a far less hostile place than that which I came out in as a boy!
When I was not yet 18, I met and fell in love with a boy named Bobby
Griffith(Prayers for Bobby). His family at the time was dogmatically
religious, and the pain of the closet was unbearable for him. He took
his own life in 1983!

@n2bbuilding For all
of its "right wingery", it posesses a fairly sizeable, well organized queer(LGBT)
community! And your "married?" comment was charming! My partner and I
just made it before many illinformed Californians were cowed into voting
for Prop 8!
I would like to thank you for the kind words and do look forward to hearing from
you again!

Ciao Bello!
You had me in stitches with that Orange County crack! Though I've lived for
many years in Northern California, I grew up behind the "Orange Curtain",
land of "wingnuttery" and a plethora of megachurches! In fact my mother
and her husband live in Newport Beach, so I do return on occasion.
blainebill39 1 year ago
@n2building
Thankfully that was a long time ago and much has
changed. We're not quite there yet, but full inclusion is within sight!
It thrills me to know that you will be able to lead an authentic life as
a gay man, and will even likely be able to marry the person whom you
love, if you so choose!
Yeah!!!!
May G-D Bless You!

You don't have to necessarily announce it to the world. I've only told the people that really matter to me (family and good friends).
