The Chaser are the ones that are irrelevant. Their cancelled shows cost the ABC a shit load of money and they don’t get that they are not dealing with a bunch of idiots. We know a show based on a false dichotomy is not remotely satirical or intelligent and that there is room in a healthy world for both celebrating and commiserating. The Chaser put the F in fundamentalist attempts at “satire” and I can’t believe I’ve just taken 5 minutes out of my life to respond to them.

Still, when it so dominates the media that Will and Kate's wedding mementos, W & K walking down the isle, W & K kissing at their own wedding (gosh, what a surprise), W & K leaving their wedding when it's over, are ALL (not just the highlights) presented as equally important to stuff like the 2nd deadliest tornado outbreak in US history ... well, it's fair to poke fun at that, surely?

Jeez, why are people so ignorant. At times like these where people are troubled it's nice to have an event like this. No one seems to realize is that nationalism is one of the strongest tools to keep a country, and even other powers happy. You wouldn't want to see devastation constantly on the news, sometimes you want to see something happy for once and something that would give you a reason to celebrate. It's like people are saying no one can be happy!

Everybody knows there are horrible things happening in the world but does that mean we need to focus on them entirely? The "news" is predominately filled with tragedy that none of us can change. I think it's great that this is a single positive story being shared around the globe. Half the time the "news" is just highlighting human misery. Do we really need to know that a toddler was runover or that a taxi driver was robbed? What difference does it make knowing how many people died in Japan?

@7wallaby I think you've completely missed the point of this sketch. its not aimed at the couple and its not aimed at war torn or disaster struck areas of the globe. It is merely pointing out the irrelevance and trivial nature of this event and it uses the contrast of serious subjects to do it. whether or not they are in love has little to do with anything, this did not deserve a percentile of the coverage it got.
