No one was looting in MN/ND during the last several years of flooding. No one was looting in MN after tornadoes wiped out portions of communities. Actually, people from the whole area helped.

Dear god this is an outdated report. It was revealed later that the police had been ordered to go to the Walmart and collect Clothing and Shoes for on-duty officers who had no way to clean their clothes after wading through flood waters. To say that they were "looting" is misleading at best. The NOPD actually contacted Walmart to tell them that they had taken supplies.
That being said they should have done something about the other looters in the store.

Dear god this is an outdated report. It was revealed later that the police had been ordered to go to the Walmart and collect Clothing and Shoes for on-duty officers who had no way to clean their clothes after wading through flood waters. To say that they were "looting" is misleading at best. The NOPD actually contacted Walmart to tell them that they had taken supplies.
That being said they should have done something about the other looters in the store.

@guam Culture and standards of living aren't the same. People come to the west for a better standard of living. And those same people maintain their original culture upon coming over here. So these two things are not synonymous. African nations were left in a state of chaos after the removal of European rule. If you leave a power vacuum in a region you have war and strife! Prime example post WW1 Germany. And TRUE Islam is a religion of peace. ALL religions have been used for violence however.

While the world saw them as evil opportunist, in actuality they were extremely smart. What people don't realize is that many of the looters stole buggies full of electronics and hiked to nearby states where they pawned the stuff for money in order to get hotel rooms and food. In a place where help clearly wasn't around the corner you have to do what you have to do. Period.

I know of people who stole electronics and pawned them for money. Many blk people in NO don't have bank accounts because they don't trust banks. They hid their money under mattresses and stuff. This money was lost in the flood. They needed funds in order to leave the city and stay elsewhere. Its called hustling to survive.

Just like they're over exaggerating the flaws within the track record of that company heading the problematic nuclear power plant in Japan. The news is just full of it. They spent half a second praising Japan for their citizen's moral nature during the disaster, but upon finding out that they have a potentially negligible company behind the power pant they're all over that story. The police weren't looting; were those two NOLA cops living in poverty? We can't even imagine living by a code of civility...

European colonization of Africa put most of sub-Saharan Africa into an oppressive state that rivaled America in the 50s and 60s.
