  • I have the same knife probably made in the 60's it's more like a Puma, newer versions look so cheap, starting from the steel and the awful hollow grind. I understand that there is a ban on Sambar Stag so now they use Red Stag or similar, so I won't criticize that, but they should have stuck with Pumasteel and a saber grind.

  • very nicely made knife, i especially like the loveless pins on the handle. A lot of time and thought has gone into the construction of this blade ''typical Germans'' and 440c is a very good steel high in carbon and not actually that hard to sharpen although i'd prefer a convex or scandi grind on this knife

  • this model was my first bowie knife...bought it at woolworth's in 1968 for around 30 bucks...lost it in the woods...replaced it a few years ago with a vintage one from the 70s...i don't use it...i just leave it on the wall where it's safe... :O)

  • did anyone else hear the "thats not right either" at the beginning of the video???

  • If only it were 4 inches longer....

  • why wont you cut in some stuff?-.-

  • hi there plz would you do a revue on Puma Tec Belt Knife

    HBZ161312

  • Good luck sharpening that 440C.

  • Would this make a good survival/wilderness blade. I don't know wether to choose this or the kabar potbelly.

  • @OutdoorSurvivalist1 You might want to check out the Becker BK-2, I just posted a review of it. That is a guaranteed survival knife that can withstand anything.

  • @OutdoorSurvivalist1 i havent tried mine out yet but it is nice and lite and has a good feel,my hands are about medium size.if you want some thing a little heavier the kabar might be the better choice!

  • The steel is not 440C, it's 1.4116, more like 4440A and not anywhere near 60 HRC unfortunately.

I do wish they use 440C thou, I'd get one in a heartbeat.

  • @jzmtl Then I will expect your order shortly. Check out the Puma website. On the product page for this knife, it states the steel is 440C with an HRC of 57-60. Look and see for yourself. :)

  • You have great taste Bob! Any comments on the blade thickness? Its not too thin for heavy woods use is it? You do great reviews my friend, Keep'em coming.

  • @ZombieOrchestra The spine begins at 4mm thick and this knife will do just about any chore you need it to, however keep in mind it is a medium sized Bowie with a hollow ground blade, so a lot of very heavy chopping might be a stretch. Not to say you couldn't chop with it, but it would probably take a little longer than with something like a ESEE Junglas Machete or similar other knife.

  • @wwwknivestowncom Thanks Bob, I think im gonna grab one, its a beautiful knife!

  • Have you ever heard of a Puma 'Buddy'. My sister has one and it is nice!

  • awesome i just bought one of these on ebay, i can't wait for it to come. i have a lot of other knives but this will be my first Puma. i remember my uncle had one decades ago and i've wanted one since. i remember the quality being outstanding.

  • Hey Bob from Knivestown, great videos!

Not sure if this has been touched on yet, but the "lanyard hole" and upper "tie down", are actually meant to work together as a secondary, or alternate, securing point for the sheath/knife. The leather cord up top, is meant to go through the hole, then looped around the pommel, holding the knife in the sheath. At least that's how I was lead to understand it.

  • There are a couple videos on Puma knives here on YT, all be it very few when compared to other brands. Thank you for yours. Keep 'em comin Bob, Puma makes ALOT of beautiful knives.

  • i got a puma stockman pocket knife. its gorgeous. it has the stag handle with the puma shield in the handle. great looking knife.

  • Thats a beautiful knife, and i'm going to buy two. One for myself and the other as a gift. My son will love this for christmas. Nice review Bob. I always enjoy them.

  • Very good review. Interesting detail that indenter mark, that sure is something I haven't seen in any other knives. And you have good info also about the quality control of Puma, very interesting. Keep 'em coming :)

  • I'm a big fan of the Puma white hunter. This has a more utilitarian design, though. I just might check it out. Thanks for sharing.

  • Nice review...

  • wooh first comment and first view! Nice review. Keep them coming i'll keep watching

  • Thanks. If you like the Puma, I have another one I will be uploading tonight.
