@netballer24 Hi, I am glad you like this, I think your teacher is right it is very tricky but well worth the hard work. Good luck with the Pierne, it is not something I have ever played myself and might not get the chance for a while as I am working on some new repertoire for some concerts. Good luck with you Grade 8!!

@CreightonGriffiths yeaaahh he was AMAZING! and gareth was really good too! :) i can only find his like personal pagee,, not a likee fan pagee i think its called??
@netballer24 I mentioned this to Ben, he will try to do one as soon as he gets some time. We are back in London now getting ready for Sunday's final - it should be a lot of fun - do watch it if you can - its on ITV1 at 7.30pm.
God... When I first heard this song from Susan Drake's album, Echoes of a waterfall, in which she covers a few songs by Hasselmans and Godefroi, I fell in love!! I want to learn playing harp, but the few teachers where I live are like.... too far away.. It would take 5 hours by car to take lessons xD I'm going to try learning folk harp basics by myself though... You are a true inspiration, you are so young, but have accomplished such amazing things yet! You are very talented! Friendly, Karl<3
Thanks for posting all your videos for viewers like myself. You inspire me to keep playing my pedal harp when I view your videos! I have started much later in life then you with playing harp, but again you are definitely an Inspiration for me! Thanks again!!!!

I think L&H style 85 harps sound the best. Thats part of the reason your version sounds the best, and the other reason is you're verry tallented. And isabelle moretti,
in my opinion dosent sound as good because she is playing a camac, I like camac lever harps and the smaller pedal harps but not camac grand harps
Dear Ben's Mum, behind every talented child there's a mother who's put the hours in. Hats off to you both and thank you so much for the immense pleasure you share with us.
It is the best "La Source" performance that I have ever heard ~ Don't know why, it is really touching...... I am so impressed by Ben's performance ~ he is so young but his music really touch people heart
I was listening you again and it seems to me that your's pronunc. of nots ( sounds of music- is like somebody read beautiful story with emotions: without hurry in moving of hands-no stress )- sound of nots are very ,very clean... and I like it very much. :)
...this piece I find beautiful in your performans.... :)
I would love to see you perform live someday. I'm sure you're only going to keep getting more and more amazing at what you do.. Absolutely beautiful. Thanks for sharing your talents with the world.. and for such wonderful causes too.
Are u kidng me? This boy is realy fantastc. I suppose he`ll be the next one, who can replace Xavier de Maistre :) He must joint the World Harp Competitions Indiana. Well done and keep it up!
Benjamin, you can't imagine how much JOY you give. I discovered Hassellman last week (I don't play the harp but love it)and found you on You Tube. You brought tears of pleasure to my eyes. I have just received a CD of La Source played by a professional English harpist and am giving it away; I can't bear to play it after hearing your interpretation. Sadly, the end of your You Tube rendition is snipped off. Have you recorded this yourself? All my love and thanks to you.
Thank you (and everyone else) for all your wonderful comments, it makes all the hard work so worthwhile. We were unable to record the video ourselves as we were not at home when it was broadcast. Out of the blue someone sent this file to us which they had recorded - it arrived like this without the last few notes, a pity but hey it was very kind of them to think to record it and send it to us!!
Benjamin is still too short to play 47 stringed harps - but it does not pose too much of a problem, some times he needs to do a bit for string tuning - such as with David Watkin's Fire Dance from Petite Suite where he is short a string at the top - but he is still very happy with this harp a Lyon & Healy 85GP!
I am in tears...Congratulations: considering your young age, I wish you all the best for an amazing career. Kepp on...BRAVO!!!

Oh!To be young again! I would have love to learn the harp at your age!
Just a question: Do you play with a full size instrument (47 strings) or with smaller harp?
BorisCr 3 years ago
Benjamin is still too short to play 47 stringed harps - but it does not pose too much of a problem, some times he needs to do a bit for string tuning - such as with David Watkin's Fire Dance from Petite Suite where he is short a string at the top - but he is still very happy with this harp a Lyon & Healy 85GP!

Sorry should have said his harp has 44 strings!
CreightonGriffiths 3 years ago
As you probably would've heard. He plays absolutely lovely =)
When I was 10, my teacher recommended to me at the time to go and see David Harps in Geneva.
He makes all the harps himself and he's able to adjust everything to your height.
Being asian and very short (1.10m at that time), he made me a 46 stringed harp and I was able to use it without any back problems whatsoever!
This is just to inform you that there are possibilities if you wants to =)
I wish you all the best! Keep it up!
