Why do bad guy's want so much attention and good guy's don't?

Let's use Ren as an example: When Ren was a villain, he drew a lot of attention to himself; he wanted attention and got it.

But when he's a good guy, he doesn't really want that much attention anymore. He still demands it, but not a lot and not very often.
