(1) I think you misunderstand the context of Luke 22:36. From your video I think this whole argument hinges upon that scripture from the best I can tell. There is not any other NT scripture that supports what you say and plenty that oppose it. Jesus is saying in verse 37 that the reason they are to carry swords is that: " this which is written must be fulfilled in me, And he was reckoned with transgressors: for that which concerneth me hath fulfilment."

(2) Jesus told them to bear swords to fulfill prophecy, just like when He told them to go get the donkey for Him to ride upon. This was to fulfill prophecy also. Notice that the verse 37 prophecy calls the disciples Transgressors. Jesus confirms this by quoting that scripture to them. Why are they transgressors? Because they resisted the authority established by God which the Mosaic Law spoke against but Jesus permitted to fulfill prophecy. May God prosper you.

I think it is sad the way things are in Canada.As a nation we have always had guns and rifles.Canada had the fur trade and Hudson's Bay Company.When I grew up most every home had a firearm in it. I do not believe that ownership of a gun/guns or the lack thereof will have any repercussions on a child of God when they stand before the judgment seat of Jesus Christ. What does this have to do with Christians defending themselves and or family? A man who does not protect his family from harm is worse than an infidel. I own hand guns and shotguns and an assault rifle. I will use deadly force if needed to keep mine from being killed. I would also use deadly force to protect any innocent under duress. I am a trained military veteran and hate violence more than most. But I know there are worse things than self protection. Allowing mayhem is always worse.

@redbonesmkia There's a song that I listen to that kind of helped me when I was wondering the same thing. Part of it goes, "Should the Lord remove all evil, I'd be first in the line. He would have to wipe out us and all of the people." We are still of a sinful nature while we're still in the flesh, so I guess removing evil isn't a simple fix.

@manmadesounds It's because of the duality of life! You see, God created LIGHT, but God never created Darkness. There is no such thing as a darkness molecule. Darkness is just the absense of light. Do you understand?

So , God created righteousness and goodness and truth, but God never created evil. Evil is just the absense of good. If you turn off a light, the room goes dark. If you turn off the good, all that's left is the evil. One way of looking at it anyways :) Jesus bless you

I reminded you of the words of Jesus - what you do about it is between you an Him. I am not here to argue my brother. We will all stand before Jesus, He is the righteous judge. The words that He spoke will judge us.

@redbonesmkia Well, I would say that is a curse or judgement that falls onto the children from the parents. GOD allows this for some reason. A lot of people have left the Catholic system because of this. Again- in our eyes it is terrible whenever something like this happens to a chile- but we learn in Exodus 20 that GOD curses generations based on the parents. You have to trust GODs judgements and those things He allows, it is all working together for a better purpose.

Everything that happens including 23 people dying in a resturant is allowed by GOD. It could be judgement of some sort among strangers that were divinely brought to the same place in one day, whatever it is- your argument seems to supercede GODs way. Our ways are not as high as GOD's and niether are our thoughts. Psalm 91- He who dwells in the Most High does not needs earthly weapons to protect themselves. I understand the constitutional reason, but as a Christian you don't need a gun.

Yes, "turning the other cheek" is a principle greatly misunderstood. It has nothing to do with someone causing bodily harm. Slapping on the cheek with the back of the hand was an insult. It was was like someone walking up to you today and giving you the middle finger. In such a situation you are not to raise to it and insult back.
