Different yes, opposing, no. When we have less government and most decisions are left to the state it is easier for the people to have control over the government. If things get out of hand they can just go to another state. The state governments would realize this and would think twice before making any decisions.
As long as people are mobile they always have the option to go to another state. Maybe they can't afford a place to stay, well if the situation is bad enough they will leave if not, they will stay. And who is to say people will not have the means in the near future if we are due for such a change in government? There is also the possibility that a neighboring state would have policies on refugees. Like I said before it is highly unlikely that it will get to that point.

And who is to say people will not have the means in the near future if we are due for such a change in government? There is also the possibility that a neighboring state would have policies on refugees. Like I said before it is highly unlikely that it will get to that point.

It's satire. An important and effective way to break through illusions and make people look at reality through comedy. Cohen isn't stupid and in many ways sells a similar message to Ron Paul in how he alters peoples views and awakens them towards the liberty of others.
To his credit Ron Paul, although not a great sport in the scene does handle it as a reasonable person and comes across as level-headed and no-nonsense type of guy.

@whitsoxdude Yes I have seen the whole video (and also the movie "Brüno"). I know that Ron Paul isn´t gay. I only wrote those lines as a joke (or "experiment") in order to see how fast anyone would respond and in what kind of way (when I know how large - and almost fundamental - support he has from people). The response was indeed quick but I did not expect that kind of civil response (good behaviour from your side). Now when the "experiment" is over I will erase that comment.
