honestly the dumbest race ive seen on youtube...lets race an amg merc. against a built NA 2.3L I4 touring car...one lap around a track is all i want to see to prove how bad the mazda would destroy it in the corners

How on earth is this a dumb comparison? The Mazda is a stripped out car with a race engine while the amg might have twice the power it has twice the weight. It was a good race only thing letting it down was getting the power down with fwd

The Mazda is a race engine and geared for acceleration which is good for the strip. It has a race gearbox unlike the mercs automatic gearbox. Its a goofd comparison and the close times prove it

a decent touring car should make 0-60mph in around 3.5s or less?

put the AMG against the VXR or one of the other leading touring cars, might be a different story. we all know what'll happen when a corner comes :)

Perhaps where there is a higher cap on power, but the SCCA Touring Car Challenge has a displacement limit and a 270hp cap (roughly) to keep costs down and allow more entrants.

No way will a touring car do 0-60 in 3.5 secs the vxr that you mention has 280-300bhp and will do 0-60 in about 5 secs so would still hve been beaten by the amg although i agree on a track it would destroy the merc especially with the italian master at the wheel.

I don't see the point of that. A fairer race would have been to put the AMG up against the Merc DTM car. That twat's AMG would have lost, badly.

uhm.. a drag race? dumb, any high schoolers mustang cobra could beat it in a straight line. I'm not a mazda fanboy but the mazda by any stretch of the imagination but the mazda *is* a race car and it would have taken the lead after the first two corners. Hmm, actually, take any car, race around a track for 45 minutes at 10/10ths and then lets compare results. I do love the sound of the e63 with the european exhaust package though..

ofcourse the mazda is faster in cornering because it is a race car. Everyone knows that, but in dragrace it could be interesting between these two because the e63 has more hp than the mazda but twice the weight. Whats the big deal :S
