"did you take the battery out and put it back in? R u sure the phone is not roaming?" Common... he actually paid the $175 termination fee to get out because all his friends were on Verizon anyway.

Their voice technology is called 1xCDMA and data is EVDO They are running on different frequency spectrum. ATT is running voice and data both on same HSPA technology.
Peak truput you can get out of verizon evdo is 3.2mbps theoretical. Even if you add more EVDO carriers, it is still the same peak truput but just reaches more number of people. With ATT HSPA technology, you can increase the datarate up to 21mbps on same technology. In europe, hspa operators are providing video calls with hspa+ as of today. Verizon cannot achieve this with its current technology and that is why they are now rushing for the superior LTE 4G technology..

DE3ZZNUTZZZZ read again you might learn something Verizon Wireless might have slightly better connectivity indoors and call quality but like other carriers, Nevada and the mountain states have a lot of dead zones. There are several other small pockets throughout the nation, where extended service (translate this to service you pay extra for) is available, but there are also lots of places where you won't be able to make a call.

DE3ZZNUTZZZZ Well that's funny because maybe you live way up top in the mountain close to nevada and your school in arizona had services in the building, that why you never once lost connection and because maybe you were inside at your school or your home all the time. So when you were traveling between the two state you had bad services and lost connection. Verizon service doesn't have great network service in Nevada sorry it's the truth. See it to believe it.

If there's a blackout, AT&T won't have service for at least 22 hours, Verizon uses generators to let their customers use their cell phones. To prove it, we had a blackout in 2002 from 4pm-2pm and my dad's phone was the only one working, my friends' parents' didn't have service for 22 hours, and their house phones were down.

Actually @100572a and @alvirnebroncos, AT&T's 3G network is the fastest in the US, as confirmed by a number of recent 3rd party, independent tests. The most recent is Gizmodo's 12 city speed test.
Also, we are in the middle of upgrading to 7.2HPSA, which will allow for MUCH faster speeds than Verizon's current CDMA network, while laying the groundwork for our upcoming LTE network

AT&T sucks! LOTS of drop calls, and the poor customer service. When someone spammed me with text message ads, I called them for assistance, only to have them argue with me for 1/2 hour and they did nothing. AT&T HAS THE WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE OUT OF ALL THE CARRIERS!!

Absolutely...Customer service is a joke with AT&T. I have tried to call them for a buddy of mine because he could receive a picture that I sent him (go figure, great service) and it sounded like their representative was reading from a manual. "did you take the battery out and put it back in? R u sure the phone is not roaming?" Common... he actually paid the $175 termination fee to get out because all his friends were on Verizon anyway.

there are 19,355 cities in the US, and AT&T only covers 9,400 of them; that is less than half.
AT&T covers 97% of the PEOPLE in the USA, not the LANDSPACE; big difference..
in the major cities; there is little difference in network capabilities, but outside major cities; AT&T is awful. the coverage is spotty.
AT&T is faster than Verizon, but if you can't get service, that speed is meaningless..

I know you get what you pay for, but at&t AND Verizon are both $99 a month for unlimited everything. Compare that to other companies where you can get unlimited everything for about $50.

Yes @SingleRKOGirl you're right about that but at least with Verizon you know you're getting your moneys worth even though Verizons phone plans are more expensive than T-Mobile, Sprint, & most of Verizons rivals along with the fact that Verizon is still and has been the Number 1 wireless carrier in the USA for at least the past 10 years which proves my point on Verizon being the best wireless provider of them all, even better than T-Mobile.

plus with ATT, you can still have your voice call tru the headset while checking your emails and surfing the web with 3g speeds. with verizon technology, you cannot do this. you are either on phone or on web. you can't do both. reason is verizon is actually using two different technologies for voice and data. Their voice technology is called 1xCDMA and data is EVDO They are running on different frequency spectrum. ATT is running voice and data both on same HSPA technology.

Peak truput you can get out of verizon evdo is 3.2mbps theoretical. Even if you add more EVDO carriers, it is still the same peak truput but just reaches more number of people. With ATT HSPA technology, you can increase the datarate up to 21mbps on same technology. In europe, hspa operators are providing video calls with hspa+ as of today. Verizon cannot achieve this with its current technology and that is why they are now rushing for the superior LTE 4G technology..
