  • Beethoven's... no music's...most important work. We are no longer serfs. He speaks for all humanity. Each of us, no matter how humble our origins ARE important!

  • that tragic fugue in the middle could perfectly be a new darker symphony.....it should last more

  • Beethoven originally dedicated this symphony to Napoleon. Scratched out his name when Nap pronounced himself to be emperor of europe. Great rendition L.B.

  • I'm Half-deaf, and i can't do much about music, i feel bad about it.

  • Just fyi: this was recorded on Feb 4-6 1978

  • ok ive done some searching and i think the cellists name is Robert Scheiwein. he passed away in july of 2011. i can find little information on him. im pretty sure this is him though.

  • does anyone know the name of the man who plays the red cello? to the right of Mr. Bernstein.

  • This is one of the best Eroicas . It has the kind of energy and nerve that only a conductor capable of split second minute adjustement of tempo can achieve. An ebb and flow of tension than no amount of good will and preparation before the actual performance and nocomposer metronome markings can substitute for.The wienna philharmonic only sounded this good with Kleiber , Karajan and occasionally Maazel.

  • 16:45 is my preferred part

  • 26:35 :D, my favorite part
