ok ive done some searching and i think the cellists name is Robert Scheiwein. he passed away in july of 2011. i can find little information on him. im pretty sure this is him though.
This is one of the best Eroicas . It has the kind of energy and nerve that only a conductor capable of split second minute adjustement of tempo can achieve. An ebb and flow of tension than no amount of good will and preparation before the actual performance and nocomposer metronome markings can substitute for.The wienna philharmonic only sounded this good with Kleiber , Karajan and occasionally Maazel.
