Wow! Is this calypso music mixed with jazz? Incredible journey with your bass lines, I must say. I just love the way, they are made to play with the piano, horn sections, drums and... did I miss out anything?
You've brought up a good point. However I think the more players in the band (specifically the ones playing off the soloist) the more important it is for me to stay fairly basic. Plus I think the ostinato is such a good one it doesn't really need a lot extra.
Also if the solo was a little longer I'd have fed off the soloist more but the tune fades out after a little over one minute. Early on in the solo it's best for the bass player to just lay it down.
