  • WOTS THE FILM IN THE VIDEO PLZ

  • @TheCookster40 Sound clips are from "Performance", the film clips are from various films including "Don't Look Now" with Donald Sutherland.

In fact all the film clips are from Nicolas Roeg films.

  • @sifrow correct dood! thought i was the worlds only smart arse!!

  • @sifrow Most used video samples here, from "The Man Who Fell To Earth" ofcourse.

  • Not a big fan of Einstein.

  • KROQ Pasadena

  • These day's, mtv stands for More Terrible Video's

  • was it really micheal winner speaking ?

  • i dont like music.

the rest of the album sucks but this song is classic

  • played this on ABSOLUTE 80S a few weeks ago TOP TUNE

  • I played this album to death & still love it, just as good today as it was all those years ago & still has something to say in this day & age

  • Why I like this sog? I'm 40.... but I still love it....

  • what is that shit at 0:35

  • Fuck that. It's great. I was listening to it for 30 minutes in my head before I finally decided to link to it. Volume has a quality all it's own.

    I'm a yankee doodle dandy.

  • im a yank and im 27 years old and I listen to big audio dynamite so im no dumb yank

  • Looks like the underground garage in mad max.

  • I remember hearing this on the radio in 86, I was 14, loved it then and still do.

Most kids listen with their eyes these days, we listened with our ears back in the eighties.

  • @MayfairGent back in the seventies we listen with our souls :D

  • at last ive found it .one of the best songs ive heard.

  • @vespasianlegx11 i know mate im only after finding it as well great tune

  • I love the reference to film in this song and video. I need to see the rest of Roeg's films.

  • Pure class. Music, imagination and style. They did Nic Roeg proud.

  • What a disappointment, I was browsing lists of 80s music and clicked a link to find this rubbish, its terrible, obviously there are loads of old tracks that are amazing, but some people on here either have a bad taste in music or mistake nostalgia for a good tune.

  • @94flyingpig " Somebody I never met

But in a way I know

Didn`t think that you could get

So much from a picture show"

when a baboon looks into a diamond it only sees another baboon looking back at him

  • @94flyingpig careful, your ignorance is showing...

  • @94flyingpig If that is what you think.

  • this isnt so BAD

  • Shazam brought me here!

  • i remember them performing this on No.73 (saturday morning kids TV programme) in the 80s and thinking it was great...must have been about 10

  • mick jones is boss

  • stay out of London more like it !! Nobody speaks english there & it looks like there still in the 1960's !!!!! MANCHESTER is the home of british bands !!

  • seen em loads , great ,love BAD , as if we grew up together , do like carbon silicon also ( Micks latest ) its only the blues great .

traveled to San diego halloween to see the ages ago fucking great met the guys got the video

  • why do people care if an artist has bad teeth, they aren't models.

  • i am not obese or watch bill o reilly. I am a big fan of england. I love your guys musicians. My top 5 bands of all time are all british excpet my third favorite band the talking heads. I would love to visit london and a few other parts of Europe in the future.

  • @royalnaz1 Well just do it mate...live your dream....just stay out of Manchester...its a shitole!

  • @OttersPocket1 You should be deported for saying that.

  • i typed without a capital because its easier to type that way. As long as you understand what I am saying then thats all I care about conveying.

  • Met Mick Jones a few years ago, great bloke!

  • You see, in the USA you put people with bad teeth on Springer, Maury, Wilkos etc. Here in the UK we put them in pop videos (but only if they are Londoners. ;) ).

  • I love that like Joe Jackson or Talk Talk Joe tried something totally different and new and out of his comfort zone. Clash always carved their own path in punk anyway-i.e. not sounding/looking like they were expected, but their respective solo careers show these weren't the cliche of the self-limiting all attitude no aptitude to back it up image of punk. Damn, catchy, danceable, intelligent, ambient, great job Joe! Death to mtv approved corporate chic/lady gagme bullshit, all hail real artists!

  • British invasion at it's best! love it!

  • Fucking sick tune! Great memories

  • tapping my foot as i listen....some brits have bad teeth but at least we aint all fat and retarded

  • Comment removed

  • @royalnaz1

Why are Yanks so fucking dumb.

  • @galenkia don't hate, we are better than this now - the music has made us one,, dump hate and love initaite!

  • @royalnaz1

Some British people do have bad teeth. But atleast we are not all hideously overweight. severely retarted evolution denying. Bill O' Reilly watching moron's like the Americans. And also we do tend to start sentences with capital letters, unlike you.

  • @JONNOG88 ummmm,i'm American and i am not hideously overweight.5'2"----105 pounds. :) I've never insulted the British.Maybe mexicans,but never the British.

  • Comment removed

  • makes me smile 2 hear it

  • have they finally gotten that British people teeth problem under control?

  • @blogegog yes just like your fat blob or was that your fat gob

  • Bob on !!!!!!!!!!

  • gran clasico

  • Wasn't there a BAD video that featured Johnny Rotten and a snippet from the movie Searra Leone where they say "We don't need no stinking badges"?

  • i was 37 and it rocked my boat when are the good times comming back

  • 10 dislikes they can fuq off

  • @weirdscience85 what with?

  • uniforms rok

  • i love them for ever and ever, actually more than i like unicorns ...

  • what a classic, stood out from the crowd when it was released and still sounds fresh now, love it.

  • Make sure to check out all of the Nicholas Roeg movies this song is based on.

  • Wow,..this takes me back to my teen years when I was a dysfunctional introvert in 1986~1987.

  • Comment removed

  • @weirdscience85 Lol I remember that month very well. I was 17 and didn't even know what alcahol was like. All my Youth Training cash went on punk records and T shirts.

  • Absolute brilliant song......one of the first songs i knew every lyric too! PRESSURE!

  • aint nothing like music and drugs and alcohol. nothing. sex is second.

  • If you don't like this, then you don't like music.

  • love this song

  • v=cHTDkJ-bQqM&ob? No, v=MC2.

  • Song is the bomb. Reminds me of 91x in San Dog 85'. Was way before zoom whitening though.

  • i bet Foster the People are huge BAD fans!!

  • fucking classic

  • Marry me Mick Jones

  • @daydreambeliever14 Mick is the man to be sure. I understand in 88 he contracted the measles from one of his kids and almost died. From what I've seen, he's looking the elder statesmen nowaday. But, he and Paul Simmononim....the bass player for The Clash just toured with Gorillaz.

  • YOWZA!

  • Brings back memories!!

  • This song is so happysad.

  • Yep. They were great fun at V, I totally agree. Good for you going to see them and being only 18 :)

  • Going to see them tomorrow at V-Festival canny wait...On Joes Birthday as well RIP Joe Public.

  • @DelStrainComedy They were amazing at Weston on saturday, im only 18 so probably the closest thing ill get to see to the Clash

  • The lyrics are in reference to the movie "Performance" starring Mick Jagger from the 70's. Nearly all the dialogue is pulled from this film. I had listened to this song 100s of times when my friend had me over to watch "Performance". I had never seen it before but could quote the next line before it happened on screen based on the previous line. My friend immediately thought I HAD seen the film. I turned him on to B.A.D. and he's been a fan ever since.

  • Colossal clash fan. But only discovered this band now. On paper should be kl. This song is quite chill. I like it

  • Outside Lands!

  • I've listened to this song hundreds of times for the past 25 years and never seen the video. But today I've finally remedied that. Now the references to the dwarf all makes sense...though how Big Audio Dynamutt could be a fan of that horrible pretentious mess of a film "Don't Look Now" is a mystery.

  • @PleasantFellow

The song is about Nic Roeg films. References Man who fell to earth, Walkabout, Performance and Don't look now... there is more but can't think of them at moment.

  • @TheCrowy68 Hi - the main reference in the song title comes from the Nicolas Roeg film 'Insignificance' - this is the film where Albert Einstien explains his famous theory (E = mc2) to Marylin Monroe.

  • @PleasantFellow 'Don't look now' is a work of genius - this may be why a band fronted by Mick Jones (no slouch in the intellect department ) like it.

  • @tommysonar "Don't Look Now" is total genius -- I agree! Mick has always been into film -- Clash tunes going back to "Right Profile" about Montgomery Clift etc. Nice to see some intellect around fellow YT viewers here. :-)

  • stop zooming in on Mick's teeth plz.

  • BEST SONG EVAR~!@$#

  • I just love this song.what a great band:)

  • I'm pretty sure Sleigh Bells was inspired for their song Rill Rill

    :P

  • Is it possible that this song is what inspired Billy Joel to write "We Didn't Start The Fire"?

  • @kixxxter no.

  • @kixxxter I can see what you mean, they do have the same chords and same song structure.

  • @kixxxter no

  • i kin cycle to work every day to this, just makes me smile. 5 miles each way in shite weather to go and work. what a tune, but Rush is even better

  • Why is M&Ms staring at my wife's ass?!?

  • A terrific homage to one of the true visionaries of cinema Nicholas Roeg. No one made films like him even if they were junmbled puzzles to be figured out of the viewer. To watch a Nicholas Roeg film was never a passive event and encourage the brain to work rather than just absorb a series of mindless images as we have been conditioned to do nowadays.

  • @madahad9 Cheers - right on.

  • Noice Mick

  • MIck Jones = Proper British Rock Hero

  • All the other kids, with the pumped up kicks!

    "Thank you Big Audio Dynamite!"

    signed, Foster the People

  • 26 years after, and it's still fresh and young.

  • essa musica é sensacional, dancei e me diverti muito com este som....bons tempos!!!! Quem curtiu....curtiu!!!!!

  • I do get that part for sure but where does the verse come from? Still a top song, I have the original 12"

  • genius tune!

  • Mick Jones - absolute legend from the most influential band ever - The Clash. As other posters have said, this man is a genuine music hero compared to shite like The Gallagher brothers.

Also think Don Letts was in the band - isn't he or is it the other black guy in the band, who is on the cover of Superblackmarket Clash?

  • Mick Jones - absolute legend from the most influential band ever - The Clash. As other posters have said, this man is a genuine music hero compared to shite like The Gallagher brothers.

  • I loved this song as a teenager years ago but now if you listen to the chorus (for me) it is talking of the NWO- Illuminati de-population take over of man kind>listen

    "Ritual-ideas-relativity

    Only building-no people-prophecy

    Time slide-place to hide-nudge reality

    Foresight-minds wide-magic imagery"

    Worth a thought

  • @LithiumTheKid No its all about Nick Roeg movies

  • @LithiumTheKid

Aside from the fact that it's about the films of Nicholas Roeg, I'm sure you're spot on.

  • Recently saw them in March on their 25th anniversary tour. Mick was fantastic and so sincere and genuine, a true music hero. Not like a lot of them that think they are more important than they are, Liam Gallagher comes to mind a total arsehole.

  • BOYCOTT VEVO MOTHERFUCKING "SHYSTERS" HAVE TO TO GET THEIR HOOKS IN EVERYTHING

  • Anyone else ever notice that "We Didn't start the Fire" kinda sounds like this song?

  • no vevo, no.

  • Total respect, u were brilliant at shepherds bush

  • FUCK OFF VEVO

  • Fuck off Vevo

  • It's a graet classic!!

  • Love this song and BAD

  • whats the song about murder for hire?

  • @JoeyClimax The song is a celebration of the films of director Nicholas Roeg and includes lyrics pertaining to such works as Walkabout, Performance (hence Jagger), Don't Look Now, The Man Who Fell To Earth (hence Bowie), Eureka and Insignificance. Look him up on IMDB. The 'murder for hire' notion probably relates to Performance which was about East End gangsters or Don't Look Now which featured a murderous dwarf

  • @Johnnymacnick Thank you for explaining this! I looked up Nicholas Roeg. His de-constructing film plots and re-arranging them out of chronological order explains the chorus that never made sense to me :)

  • David Bowie's in this vid

  • this is college music

  • @Xtremebyrd2k6 thank you!

  • The original 12" of this is still stunning

  • What a classic song and video brings back memories from my youth, didnt two of the lads go on to form dreadzone another deadly band.

  • @dixiedean10 Yes Greg Dread (drummer), Tim Bran(keyboard) and Leo Williams(Bass) formed Dreadzone

  • who's the woman at the end?

  • Saw BAD April 2011 London, original 5 line up......... Superb! Mick is great front man. Don v athletc. Sounds superb. Keep doin it.

  • Seeing them tonight at the Roxy in LA

  • they were amazing last friday friday at manc accademy...still a top top band

  • God bless Nicholas Roeg!

  • Criminally under-rated band.

  • @Eldomina22 Amen.

  • can't wait for this fri.....come on manc acad .....

    WOOFOOKINHOO

  • @milton1969able Me too can't wait

  • i bet joe strummer would watch these video's and be like, "do i have to make shitty eurotrash music to be cool again?" so sad joe...so sad

  • 80s music videos always make me lol. Great song though. :)

  • GOOD CLASSIC TRACKS NEVER FADE AWAY..........

  • There on tour!!!!!!!!!

  • more than an infinite like.

  • all of us in Omaha love this song!!!!!

  • fedonckles

  • good diving song

  • Good driving song.

  • if you don't have anything good to say...DON'T SAY IT AT ALL!!! UNLESS IT CAN IMPROVE A SITUATION. We love this band and this song, it's been recorded and played and purchased and loved, if don't like it, go on another forum. Thanks, all the best...

  • 80's music is soooo great! What fun times.

  • sooooo many good memories from this song :^)

  • This is a great tune even if the lyrics are a little obtuse. I don't understand why people are complaining so much: after all they can just go listen to some Bieber if they don't like this.

  • @gstephensmith The lyrics aren't "obtuse" at all. They're all about movies by Nicolas Roeg. The first verse is about Walkabout, the second is about Performance, the third, Don't Look Now, and so forth. The song is called E=MC2 because Insignificance had just come out, and the plot was about Einstein meeting Marilyn Monroe. The video is even full of clips of some of them... there's a huge montage from Don't Look Now starting 1:10. Licensing must have been a nightmare.

  • @agnamaracs

Ah, very good to know that! I'll have to check these movies out sometime in the near future as I have seen none of them. Thanks for the info, Cheers!

  • @gstephensmith It's about the films of Nicholas Roeg -- the lyrics describe the plots to all his films. Mick's a big film fan.
