Why is it they cast the British man as a diffident, floppy-fringed schlep with the sense of humour of a holocaust; methinks there's some stereotyping there. Still, folk don't buy into stereotypes. Or else we'd think all American's are vulgar, talentless, Henry miller wannabes.
Who could not fall for Mimi? the gorgeous Emmanuelle Seigner. Roman Polanski himself did; and somehow convinced her to marry him, even though he was more than twice her age. {dirty old man, LOL} It's hard not to compare her to his first wife, Sharon Tate, but I'll resist the temptation. I will recommend that you check her out in a couple of other films that Roman also directed: Frantic (1988).. and The Ninth Gate (1999), in which she plays Lucifer. Would you sell YOUR soul to her? :-)
who deosnt fall in love of mimi she was perfect innocent beatifull full of dreams lovely history of love sad ending i prefer remember this movie with these ecene and the carrusel.
The guy plays really good, makes me hate him even after it's ended. Feel so sorry for Mimi for falling with this asshole. Serves him right in the end, but still, it's a tragedy.
oh!!..this is great movie!!..now i'm really scared of my GF...(what if i dumped her and...)..XD

@Aztec35361 i think hughe grant was stuck with that stereo type but every film he does now he is playing some obnoxious guy

This movie has elements in it that remind me of The Comfort of Strangers but I think I like this better:)
