Thanks! The song is Exploder by Chibi-Tech, it's a remix of something. The best place to hear it is in the Retrocoders - Years Behind music ROM (where it also is the intro music, sorta weird that I stole it to re-use but oh well, hehe).
Yeah, it was. But with a loop instead of an ending (I didn't let it play in the video tho). I'm not certain, but I think that same composer also did Conflict and Golgo 13: Top Secret Episode.
Nintendo Sound Format, it's a file with the music data and code which has been manually hacked out of each game. It can run in most NES emulators, or on a real NES, since it's still an NES program.
really impressive but, dit you know that there was a superdeck for the snes?yep and unlike the try of 8 star it does,NOT consist of a saperate nes clone cpu, but instead is uses emulation and hardware tricks to make those nes carts just compatible with the snes, without extra cables,HOWEVER duo finacial problems the addon was never released.
It should. Most of the testing when I wrote it was on a Gamestation SNES clone. For the FC Twin, I haven't seen it but I'm guessing the NES part of it is on a seperate chip (and CPU bus), inaccessible from the SNES side.
Hey Memblers, long time no see! I had long forgotten about this, but now I remember that I actually made that nsf-logo for you. Good memories, although I doesn't actually look that good in retrospect.
Anyway, I've been getting into Snesdev myself lately. I've uploaded a few videos here on youtube if you want to take a look.
Actually I thought that logo looks awesome. Though in those cases where I showed on a black background (where I didn't have a screenshot to use), that didn't help it any. I remember you sent me a design for the file-selector and interface that looked really cool, but I think by that time I was tired of working on it and didn't want to rewrite all that much (not to mention wrestling more with that damn complex SNES PPU, heheh).
If you try to dump this on a SPC file, you'll get a first-note sticking problem. memblers confirmed that, "Yep, it requires the SNES main CPU to run the NES code and communicate with the SPC continually.".
It will load a single NSF, if it isn't bankswitched (NSF players don't ever tell you when they are). If the ROM name is NSF_Player.smc, rename an NSF to NSF_Player.srm (it's the battery-backed save memory), then run the first option on the NSF list.
Only if I were to get back into SNES development, the last feature I tried to add was loading NSFs through PC's serial port to the SNES controller port, but it was difficult to do manual timing with the SNES controller port (and it isn't documented much). Next logical feature would've been writing those NSFs to FlashROM.
None of those, but in some emulators you can toggle the SNES sound channels (check the emu's manual). Also in an emu you should be able to disable sound filtering, which will make it sound brighter, like it should (it's disabled in this vid). I never planned for expansion chips. I wanted to do the DPCM channel, but it would've been a huge mess the way I would've done it.
I've been looking for a program for the last few weeks to aid me in producing sheet music from video games as well as learning how to tweak my synth to get some of the higher level synth sounds. This is the most helpful thing I've found so far, especially in the area of getting the notes. It will be much quicker than recording the music as a wave and then slowing it down (for the faster parts). Thank you very much for this wonderful program!
despites those glitchy graphics on the snes (emulater) the sounds are amezing since the nes sound was noisy on the nes, but on the snes the sounds are digital so the quality is much better.
alltrough there was a superdeck addon for the snes for wich you can play nes games on a snes without messing up with cables.
I haven't found a permanent host for it anywhere. I just now uploaded it, but youtube makes it really difficult to post a link anywhere. Click on my name to go to my profile, and the URL is in my description. But you'll have to remove the space towards the end of the filename, so "Industrie s.zip.html" should be Industries.zip.html".
Enjoy, and with all these flaming hoops, good luck.
It can't. I figured up how I'd be able to make it run the games (intercepting all accesses to the graphics hardware and reorganizing the memory), but by the time I met all my goals with the sound emulation and interface I was done with it and very eager to move on to my next big project.
More accurate than the SNES audio output on Zsnes.

also, why doesn't metal man's noise channel appear? what does decay mean?
khaosklub 1 year ago
what do the different colors for the triangle wave mean?
I've noticed that with the square waves, it represents duty cycles. 12.5% being red, 25 and 75% being green while 50% is blue.
But Triangle waves apparently don't have other duty cycles.

Hi Memblers,
Impressive work that you have there! May I ask what song plays during the intro of this video?

imagine a program wich not only convert nes code into snes code, but even manipulate 8bit graphics & sound into 16bit quality,
it micht be complex but would be cool.

yeah a special chip has to translate the nes audio, graphics hardware into snes hardware to make them compatible.
alltrough they all relay on the same type proccesor so to make nes games compatible with the snes would be not to difficuilt!!

There is a way to reduce the noise for NES sound.
Use high quality shielded cables for the A/V outputs.
I use them for my NES and it sounds extremely clean through my Sony ES sound system.
