Funny that you recently posted a part of the film Western Approaches. Accidently, I just wondered now if this film would be on You tube: and there it is. The reason I was interested is that my father played the German U boot captain. I remember he telling me about how some scenes were shot. My father served as an officer of the Royal Dutch Navy during WOII and did minesweeping. He was posted in several ports in the UK during wartime. He died 9 years ago.
How interesting..My Mother's cousin Pat jackson directed it.

The Merchant Navy were the unsung heroes of WW2 - and recieved scant recogintion for what they did, most crew were not even provided with uniforms
