I realize that the video is old.. but I thought I'd reply anyway.. you can hook a computer up to the newer tvs to use as monitors now.. last year I was using my 27 inch tv for a monitor for awhile.. Not the best, but it can be done.. Thank god, my husband bought me a new monitor tho- it was kind of hard on the eyes.
