Seeing how Iraq had absolutely nothing to do with 9/11, that surely means we've attacked the wrong country etc.
Also 9/11 was coming for a long time, personally i'm suprised it wasn't tried before. Now I'm not saying it wasn't awful, it was, but US foreign policy didn't do Americans any favours at all.
If the situation in Iraq wasn't so desperate it would be funny. A country with thousands of nuclear weapons, and a huge military is scared of a third world country with 30year old equipment!

@skyecooper The only reason the united states of shit invaded Iraq is because, back in the 80s, the Federal Reserve made loans to Sadaam Hussein (which they absolutely knew Iraq couldn't pay back). He couldn't pay these loans back, so the bank decided to take Sadaam's oil in exchange for the owed money. He didn't want to give the U.S his oil, so the CIA tried to kill him in the 90s. That is not peace at all. I feel sorry for you because you have a rascist attitude. Maybe one day you will see that hatred and war are not the answer.
Did your church teach you that hate? You are a racist. Why these people have become so desperate that they feel they need to retaliate by blowing up others. The US has a one sided policy that supports Israel no matter how many international laws they break. America should be exporting love, kindness, and caring- instead we export bombs which rip innocent civilians apart. You justify killing people to show them that killing people is bad. Why not support peace? Watch this zeitgeistmovie(dot)com
Phana24JG - You are brainwashed. Why don't you worry about radical fundamental Christians? They are more dangerous. Why don't you embrace the teachings of Jesus Christ ... instead of embracing you hatred for Arabs. Hate is not a Christian value.
Hey Phana, why are you voting for the Bush Republicans who get money from the Saudi terrorists? It's your Republican establishment that's in bed with radical Islam. So? What are you going to do about it? Why aren't you in Iraq?
Sen. Gravel sacrificed his career, to end help end Johnson's horrific war. Perhaps, you regard the Vietnam Memorial Wall as a joke, I don't -- too many of my friends' names are on that wall. In addition, Gravel served in the military, unlike Chickenhawks, Bush, Cheney, Wolfowitz, Pear, etc. Gravel was not in government on 9/11, unlike Bush who used the tragedy to put all of us and the rest of the world at greater risk.
It's beyond silly to call Sen. Gravel "cowardly" when he risked everything in order to ensure that the American people got to see "The Pentagon Papers"!
Gravel is not short of heroic in his commitment to the Constitution.
Two candidates who voted to authorize the war in Iraq (Hillary and Edwards) now plan to team up probably against the real anti-war candidates (Obama, Biden, Gravel and Kucinich)who she says are insignificant.
Scheming Hillary is clearly only concerned about winning.

Here's what I propose- allow people to see lower-level healthcare workers for cheap, instead of a doctor. These people will be able to judge if someone actually needs a doctor, and if not, can prescribe appropriate medication. These people will be affordable to see, and the government can't screw it up.
And since you seem to care for the poor so much, do you think that the poor can actually afford the extra tax necessary to run a non-shitty socialized (yes, SOCIALIZED) health care program?
How would impeaching the president actually improve things? It would waste time he's not gonna be in office much longer anyways. This would probably create some chaos and confusion when time needs spent on implementing positive solutions.
"The Congress with sufficient resolve and the strength of leadership can enact this law to withdraw American forces from Iraq within 120 days. Violation of this law would cause the President, the Vice-President, Secretary of Defense and the Secretary of the Treasury to commit a felony, setting the stage for their immediate impeachment and prosecution"

wow he sounds like Hillary in this speech. We need to enforce the laws that are and have been on the books now for many decades, not keep making new laws that are written by more corrupt lawyers with bigger loop holes in them. No thanks! give me Ron Paul
Gravel wants to enforce the laws and constitution just as much as Paul does, do your research. There are no corrupt lawyers or loopholes involved, it is a simple bill.
National health care is a logical part of a first world country; we are the only developed nation without it besides South Africa, and it's shameful. Read the statistics, millions of Americans don't have insurance or are one injury away from bankruptcy. Health care, the right to LIFE, is a human right.
Alright McTub, here's a scenario for you to chew on for a while: There's a single mother of two who works as a housecleaner and this company doesn't provide benefits for its employees, escpecially the maids... With a $10 dollar/hour job and two kids, how can she afford healthcare for her or her children? Now do the math...
It's a vicious cycle that people get stuck in all across blue-collar America, and the only real solution would be to provide universal healthcare.
Here's something for YOU to chew on, what the flying fuck has the federal government done right? Public schooling? No! Ending poverty? No! Look at Katrina, the slow response was due to the fact that the federal government can't do ANYTHING right!
It's thinking like that will ensure that the rich own this country for ever more. At the least try and stand up for what you believe, fight for it if that is the position you are in. If you don't get what you want at least you still tried. They have already won if you don't.
I like Mike's idea to have congress vote everyday but the idea of making the war a felony is simply to outragous. Why not simply vote every day to cut off funding
The point isnt to actually make it a felony. The point is to set up the confrontation between Congress and the President and let the people weigh in. Believe me, once it gets to the point where they get close to overriding Bush's veto, he'll pull out of Iraq, or he'll do it after they override his veto. Point isnt to send Bush to jail, the point is to get our soldiers out of Iraq.
I understand that, but the reality is that congress will never actually consider puting such a bill even on the floor for debate. On the other hand they are willing to at least debate cutting off funding. (response to smokeymcpot88)
The democrats won't cut of funding because they know it will be spun to say they don't support the troops and they are not good enough political tacticians to prevent that. However a clear cut end to the war they would vote for because 70% of the American people don't like the war.
However to vote for a clear cut withdraw date means cutting of funding. because only the president has the authority to actually withdraw the troops so congress must say we want the troops out on this day and no more money will be given after that. Then everyone will see its the president putting the troops in harms way not congress
constitutionaly speaking only congress has the power to "Declare War" However we haven't declared war since WWII. and the military is under bush's control he can keep them there as long as he has money to do so
It's time for Gravel to get serious, ramp up his organization, and get some coaching - he needs to sharpen his stump speech and point out some practical first steps to get his ideas implemented.
His first two debates were great, but now Crooked Joe Biden is copying the style so it's not going to be as effective as time goes on.
Yeah, He needs to try and use complete sentences and finish his thoughts before moving on. But I understand what hes thinking. Its a slippery slope to go down. Look at Obama, he was passionate and truthful, but chose to go down that politics-as-usual slope, and slipped. Now hes dodging questions and dancing around like the others. I think Gravel could handle the slippery slope, but I trust his judgement. He was a long shot for Senator in Alaska, but won anyways.
I wouldn't say that. Obama is trying very hard to get elected. Sadly, in this day and age to get elected you have to play the political game. I love Gravel and all, but he has almost no chance. If you read The Audacity of Hope where he doesn't have to play politics, Obama say a lot of the same stuff Kucinich and Gravel do.
Yeah, and before Lincoln most voters had never seen or heard the candidates.
People don't want to hear things like "our troops are dying in vain", not even people who don't support the war. It's great if you don't care about the game, and I don't care about the game, and a bunch of people on the internet don't care about the game, but most of America still does. Perhaps in 30 years we'll see a dramatic change in the way politics works, but for now it is here to stay.
We have to do more! We have to start handing out leaflets on corners of well populated areas. We have to act if you care whatsoever about this. Be passionate about this. It's the most important thing there is on this planet.
The point of him mentioning this is not to actually get the troops back right now. It's to prove that the democrats do not honestly want the war to end right now. They know that if the war ends, they have no stepping stone to launch their candidate to president. They are playing politics. And at that point, they are just as bad as all those Republicans that say that the war is going great.
Elect him. As soon as he's in, no more veto. The war ends.
Thanks for the videos. It's really hard keeping up with my favorite candidate when news agencies are only interested in short blurbs and won't actually let the candidates talk when they're in a debate.
Your plan is great but there is no way the congress will go though that. Pelosi is spineless.
The thing that will probably hold them back most from implementing this plan is because if it works, Gravel will probably get a huge boost in popular opinion... its laughable.
Seeing how Iraq had absolutely nothing to do with 9/11, that surely means we've attacked the wrong country etc.

Such a simple, perfect plan.If Reid and Pelosi were not corrupted they'd have done this in January.
I love Mike!
