I've stopped playin Tomb Raider games years ago because every TR game I rented or bought, i'm freakin stuch on them. But thanks to youtube, I can get through them now
True, alot of the new games today don't give that amazing soulful feeling that they used to. But sometimes I wonder, is this everyone's opinion, or just the opinion of the old school gamers who started playing when games were something fresh, exciting and new? Perhaps it's because we've played games for so long and have experienced everything that we can't feel the same way about new games anymore. At least one thing's for sure: the way we feel about our favourite old games will never change. :)
Ah I love playing this game :) This was my very first Tomb Raider game when my dad bought it when I was eight years old :) I am now twenty and I still love playing the old TR games :D

Too cool,the memories! I'd stay up ALL night to get through a level of TR 3! I played TR 2 twice st to fin but 3 was better. Its attacthement THE LOST ARTIFACT WAS A BLAST! SWIMMING WITH THE WHALES AND LOOKING FOR NESSE, a must play.
It's great to own every single Tomb Raider ever made. Especially if I keep the ones I bought way back when in 1996. I admit the new ones aren't so great but I still think it's the thought that counts. :D
Ahh... PS1 games were the best! And I'm not just saying this bcuz it's from my generation. There are no games these days. Just simulation after simulation of war, music, sports,etc.....Just bcuz current games have better graphics doesn't mean they are better.

But Crystal Dynamics seems to shit on everything old-school Tomb Raider. They obviously weren't fans themselves. I would be surprised if a single one of them actually beaten Tomb Raider 1, because the remake was absolutely atrocious.
Well, you know... when you play a game, it has its own memories. I respect your opinion, for me TR3 wil be the best. Regarding TR2, yes you are right, its a great great game, I played it again a month ago... The temple of Xian, is the hardest level... After all, TR3,TR2, and Metal Gear1,Hitman 1, Syphon filter2.. have the greatest taste... Todays most games, are kinda of !!!! IDK how to say it... No taste ...No soul of real gaming ... I love the fourth game! I've not played the one before that unfortunatley, but I played angel of darkness, legend, anniversary and underworld =P I love the atmosphere of the old game for ps1. They were so much more mystic, harder, you reallt needed to think hard at some places, solve problems, see details etc. And they were much longer! I wich the newer TR games were as long as the old ones.
The old games had that "atmosphere"... that sense of adventure and fear of the unknown...of magic!! all of that is lost now with the new games :S....or perhaps it's just me growing older
i think the history of Tomb Raider 3 is the best ! very beautiful music even if these of Tomb Raider 2 are ver well too ^^ (showdown, venice violons...) I always play to this game without tiring! (sorry for the English, I'm French...)
Though there was nothing like finally using that key you found to open a gate into a huge breathtaking room, or coming up for air inside a beautiful secret cavern, the music usually accompanying this transition made it simply divine.
This one is the best tomb raider that I played, it was the first game of ps1 that I had, and I'm happy to have known it. WONDERFUL,I still playing ti on my PC:D. For me, it has no end.
The original Tomb Raider games didn't need cutscenes; thats why you never expected that tiger jumping around the corner or those wolves dashing up the stairs, and thats why it scared the shit out of you.
The new ones lose that edge, you always know what's coming to you. I didn't mind anniversary but those cat mummies looked cute compared to TR1:/
The first three Tomb Raider games have fantastic replay value. Especially the debut installment of the series; good music, gameplay ahead of its time which set the stage for platformers, visions of beauty for stages, and intricate plots that only intensified after each level complete with a lot of bonus items to find.
This TR game is so magical. It is my favorite out of all the games due to its amazing places and its difficulty. Unlike the new TR games of today, I love the fact that Lara had attitude, and was not a softy. And I love the fact that this game took me a year, at least, to beat - while Underworld took me only a week.
I think the old tomb raider games were just magic :) they were so awesome in loads of ways, I think that the new games are good, but they're not Tomb Raider :) but they're good enough to make videos with :D
exactly how i feel. love the new graphics and all that but there's something whimsical and magical about the old games that's untouchable nowadays. Core was really a great game design team.

i think that Lara was the most sworn game person ever, always remember playing the 3th one and i was like : "You fucking bitch, why can u just jump there", but even though still love her, the game, music, never forget the PSX, old days, good games, childhood, u know it could be a 40°C out there, but i stood home playing shits, it was the Driver game, awesome too.

Absolutely. I am VERY strongly against Crystal Dynamics. I am not one of those people who support Tomb Raider being changed and fucked up. I'm a real fan who liked Tomb Raider for what it was.
@Panesthesia - The series has lost touch with itself because it was given to a bunch of people who do not know what Tomb Raider was about. Core Design made beautiful levels, with beautiful sound effects and even though the storyline wasn't as wildly huge and obnoxious as Crystal's, it made an odd kind of sense and kept you guessing. It made you want to know more and think. So, therefore, it was much more fun. But Crystal took the element of guessing away so it's no longer anything special.

@DragonZeara - I would just love to see the old Tomb Raider come back, because Core Design were the original creators. They knew what they were doing. Crystal Dynamics had no right taking over that game. They should have just left it alone. If Core is not in control of Tomb Raider, then Tomb Raider should be dead. Because right now, they're just playing around and insulting the Tomb Raider name.
@JacquelineNatla All we got left is some awesome Designers who use the TR level editor. I took a few shots at it myself, Made one hell of an off shore rig level. God i miss my old gaming files. At the time i didn't even think of uploading them. They included there own voice acting, own music. Animation and story. Jeez i feel embarrassed about losing that stuff. But back to the main point. Just because TR AOD was a "flop" (Bullshit i loved that game) Doesn't mean they need a new fucking creator!
@DragonZeara - I know. I never really got too much into the TR Level Editor, but I know that they are what is keeping Tomb Raider alive. People had a lot of fun with that, thanks to Core Design. Maybe you can give me tips on how to make a level of my own, I never had time to really try it before, but I would like to try.
AOD was great. Many people loved it. The only people who didn't were the ones who just can't really play a game.
@JacquelineNatla I know this may be a bit cliché but trust your imagination. Try choose your favourite level and build with that in mind. Mine included Floating islands, Off shore rig and crash site. Also give online a good look, they have packs for download where you can get the old TR 2 graphics as well as enemies from it! and so on.
I liked AOD, the whole new take on it was really cool, yeah it was buggy, but what isn't today?

I have run into a lot worse bugs playing Crystal Dynamics than most gamesI have ever played in my life. And the new games today are harder for me to play and control and especially enjoy than the ones that I played as a child. Maybe I'm just an oldie.

I am already completely anti-Crystal Dynamics. I mean, if you checked out my site, you would already know about it. Lol. I would never allow any of my children to play the shit that Crystal Dynamics comes up with. Crystal doesn't even put any effort into their games, so why should I?

Well I wouldn't say zero, I thought the Antarctica levels were kind of weak, personally, and I hate a few of the inconceivable death traps, I mean yeah, in TR2 death traps were still tricky to avoid but you at LEAST got a small clue about their whereabouts beforehand, in TR3 there are too many traps with zero indication, and the save crystals just plain suck, but overall TR3 is a good game, I had a lot of fun with it. Now Tomb Raider II on the other hand was a masterpiece.
and here's some exciting news...despite the Tomb Raider Offical Level Editor is limited to creating levels for Tomb Raider 4:Last Revelation only....You can Look up Dxtre3d on google and find this unofficial level editor and use the the .tr2 files of the tomb raider 2,3,4, and 5 discs and make your own levels to play!!..it was kind of fun for me....recommend building a level with the level already created for you in tomb raider 3 when you finally find the right download link for it good luck!
oh and BTW where in the game does this play? i've never heard this on the india level. I was top busy trying to save my arse from drowning in that river.

The Music in TR was very important for the whole atmosphere and appearance and presenatation of the game. Now Crystal Dynamics just shits on that.

Absolutely. I am VERY strongly against Crystal Dynamics. I am not one of those people who support Tomb Raider being changed and fucked up. I'm a real fan who liked Tomb Raider for what it was.

@Panesthesia - The series has lost touch with itself because it was given to a bunch of people who do not know what Tomb Raider was about. Core Design made beautiful levels, with beautiful sound effects and even though the storyline wasn't as wildly huge and obnoxious as Crystal's, it made an odd kind of sense and kept you guessing. It made you want to know more and think. So, therefore, it was much more fun. But Crystal took the element of guessing away so it's no longer anything special.

@DragonZeara - I would just love to see the old Tomb Raider come back, because Core Design were the original creators. They knew what they were doing. Crystal Dynamics had no right taking over that game. They should have just left it alone. If Core is not in control of Tomb Raider, then Tomb Raider should be dead. Because right now, they're just playing around and insulting the Tomb Raider name.

@JacquelineNatla All we got left is some awesome Designers who use the TR level editor. I took a few shots at it myself, Made one hell of an off shore rig level. God i miss my old gaming files. At the time i didn't even think of uploading them. They included there own voice acting, own music. Animation and story. Jeez i feel embarrassed about losing that stuff. But back to the main point. Just because TR AOD was a "flop" (Bullshit i loved that game) Doesn't mean they need a new fucking creator!

@DragonZeara - I know. I never really got too much into the TR Level Editor, but I know that they are what is keeping Tomb Raider alive. People had a lot of fun with that, thanks to Core Design. Maybe you can give me tips on how to make a level of my own, I never had time to really try it before, but I would like to try.
AOD was great. Many people loved it. The only people who didn't were the ones who just can't really play a game.

@JacquelineNatla I know this may be a bit cliché but trust your imagination. Try choose your favourite level and build with that in mind. Mine included Floating islands, Off shore rig and crash site. Also give online a good look, they have packs for download where you can get the old TR 2 graphics as well as enemies from it! and so on.
I liked AOD, the whole new take on it was really cool, yeah it was buggy, but what isn't today?

I have run into a lot worse bugs playing Crystal Dynamics than most gamesI have ever played in my life. And the new games today are harder for me to play and control and especially enjoy than the ones that I played as a child. Maybe I'm just an oldie.

Well I wouldn't say zero, I thought the Antarctica levels were kind of weak, personally, and I hate a few of the inconceivable death traps, I mean yeah, in TR2 death traps were still tricky to avoid but you at LEAST got a small clue about their whereabouts beforehand, in TR3 there are too many traps with zero indication, and the save crystals just plain suck, but overall TR3 is a good game, I had a lot of fun with it. Now Tomb Raider II on the other hand was a masterpiece.

and here's some exciting news...despite the Tomb Raider Offical Level Editor is limited to creating levels for Tomb Raider 4:Last Revelation only....You can Look up Dxtre3d on google and find this unofficial level editor and use the the .tr2 files of the tomb raider 2,3,4, and 5 discs and make your own levels to play!!..it was kind of fun for me....recommend building a level with the level already created for you in tomb raider 3 when you finally find the right download link for it good luck!
