i think it's a Maton. Steve does have a late '50s Fender 'Jazz',but only plays it rarely.

the intro is basically the 1st page of the 1st movement of Bach Emaj Partita for solo violin. I wouldn't say it's stylistically correct, given that I'm in a pub, and I spend all night improvising, but I think it is an appropriate way to make people think of other styles of music than they are used to.

ay...well i think its brilliant! i grew up listening to this style of music cos i used to raid my dads tape collection alot...all 'down home' and stuff.
