  • Remember when Kurt Cobain took Doc Brown's delorean back to the 60's and started smashing guitars? Then Marvin Townsend called his cousin Pete up to, first remind Pete that it's his cousin MARVIN Townsend...and also to say, "Remember that schtick you've been looking for to go with your guitar playing, well listen to this"..

All Pete heard was static and noise, and the entire event was forgotten about. The art of smashing guitars shared by both men was a coincidence..also this comment is false

  • Als een donderslag uit de hemel: Popart!! The Who. My genaration! -

  • I wonder who's the lucky bastard who caught Pete's guitar at the end...

  • fuk that shit....mr entwistle wasn't barely shown. Even when he did his bass solo. Great song tho.

  • i luv how back then all music sounde amazin live and in a studio and now live music sounds like garbage other than like rock

  • I would like to see the whole show

  • Townsend is off his face

  • The Ox played his bass solo early! lol

  • If you love all things 60s, follow my twitter page @The60sBazaar !!

  • i'm so sad that i was born so much time after woodstock

  • what an ending!! hope he didn't knock out a poor hippy with the sg!

  • How fucking high was Pete! Lol

  • @TheMrbubbles786 I think I've read that someone gave them acid without telling them. Roger claims to have been on acid during the show - especially during Listening to You, I think.

  • @thisiskelcy i think that's incorrect. I 've been a who fan since 69..i remember reading that rog never did any drugs

  • @alsaxe1 Roger was definitely the more abstinent one in The Who. I've also heard that he wasn't too into drugs - although I'm sure he did his fair share of experimentation at some point - but this particular incident was unintentional. I read about it in the booklet that came with The Kids Are Alright.

  • Fuck yeah The who is the shiit

  • God I fucking love Pete.

  • 4:50 am The Fucking Who

  • Why the fuck would anyone dislike this video? Go listen to your shitty little Green Day cover or something for fucks sake.

  • 0:22 Look at Pete's eyes, his whole face even, how wasted was he during that gig??

  • Comment removed

  • this makes me realize that i was born 50 years too late :)

  • for 240 p it is good sound and image quality

  • Uhmm...Pete Townshend looks like he had a little to much fun before going on stage

  • I love The Who. Yes I do!

  • They always destroyed their stuff at the end to ensure no encores, awesome.

  • This isnt woodstock either

  • @duderoo1975

i think youl find it is.....

  • @duderoo1975 yes it is i saw this film

  • @duderoo1975 this is woodstock

  • @duderoo1975 Where do you think this is? The White House lawn? LOL

  • @duderoo1975 it certainly is!

  • Comment removed

  • @duderoo1975 it is if u watch the video towards the end..its just very early..

  • Where did you obtain this quality video of woodstock?

    Any film left for sale?

  • *scored

  • I wonder which lucky bastard score the guitar.

  • I have satellite internet which sometimes causes things to be "hiccuppy". This played entirely thru without a hitch. Thank you whoever posted it. You can always find people who will bitch at a free beer party. Sick of their whining.

  • Does any one know the chords he plays in the solo!?!?!?!?

  • Comment removed

  • Great live version! But why the fuck they didn't show us John, even he was playing solo?!

  • Nobody follows The Who......

  • Ladies and gentelmen............The Who..

  • the who = Pete Tonsweed

  • Wonder who got the SG he threw out in the crowd?

  • @TheOrderoftheOwl

Some roadie went and fetched it. Pete needed it for the rest of the tour.

  • @TheOrderoftheOwl, from whotabs, " the guitar was caught by an audience member named Kurt Pfeiffer, and later retrieved."

  • John was a beast on the bass!!!

  • i saw the who in 2009 they were fucking wicked

  • A great band playing a great live show. The Who rock!

  • Nope. Not feeling it.

  • John Entwistle Bass Solo- 1:30

  • 2:25 and on, one of the most intense instances in any song I've ever listened to.

  • Those who complain about "poor" quality didn't understand anything... the song is great, same as the quality considering the gig was more than 40 years ago...all recorded with analogue equipment ... so just enjoy the song!

  • wish i was there.

  • Everytime i hear that song i want to put a Chair and throw it through my Flat and get a Total Freak out

  • Stop bitchin 'bout the video title and enjoy the music.

  • 2:25 "naked eye": bonus or surrealism?

  • why is there so much feedback when he starts shaking the guitar?

  • @akatsukiamp cause the guitar makers (aka gnomes) craft them that way

  • is there any dvd where you can find this scene cause most dvds i have seen from woodstock the who didn't play the song with "naked eye" - solo only "my generation" sry for bad english im german :)

  • It infuriates me to no end how little we see of John Entwistle in this video.

  • @VAB0L0 I thought the same thing, it's ridiculous even during his bass solo you don't see him.

  • Oh god, shit, incredible

    My soul sucks The Who

  • 240p???! you call that "perfect quality"??

  • @charliellorente

yes, concidering it was 2007 youtube, and the video was the only one that wasnt rough quality.

  • @andyg3 Right, I didn´t check the year. :)

  • @andyg3 You know you can change the title of videos right?

  • @RedWolf3487

    of course.

    but i dont want to

  • @charliellorente Wanker

  • @charliellorente Wanker What are you 12 years old? Fuck back to your xbox

  • @armandin2048 What´s wrong with you?

  • @charliellorente Don't be such a pussy dude, just feel yourself lucky that we have youtube and we can see these awesome performances.

  • @charliellorente Considering this video must be about 42 years old.. i'd say it's pretty damn awesome quality

  • @lilLeLuen You´re wrong, this film was shot in 35 mm (cinema, purely and simply!).here the thing is about Youtube in 2007, in that time it was not possible to upload HD videos, the minimum standard for HD is 720 horizontal lines.I think a bluray remastered edition of the Woodstock film is available, and It´s Full HD(1080 horizontal lines). You would be surprised with the results!

  • @lilLeLuen Here´s is a good example, and it´s not even close to the quality of the original blu ray when you play it at home but it gives you a good idea of the thing Ihad this film on VHS years ago, and after came the dvd and it bleew my mind off, but nothing to compare with the blu ray..., youtube.com/watch?v=y8GGK0uRh6c&hd=1

  • @lilLeLuen sorry, this is the right link: youtube.com/watch?v=y8GGK0uRh6c

  • Responder a este vídeo... I can´t post the link, I don´t know why, FUCK! just type :live 1969 1080p and set the search configuration on HD quality , one of the links is a Jefferson´s Airplane in Woodstock. enjoy it

  • @charliellorente

    that is amazing :)

i stand corrected, also.. i'll have to find this blu-ray somewhere :P

  • @charliellorente perfect for film from 1969!!!!

  • This movie was recorded in 35 mm technicolor with killer panavision lenses, the original film was restoreed and remastered in bluray (HD!! YES SIR), 40 years in the history of filming, it´s almost nothing!!!have a look at "2001, a space odissey" in bluray, compare it with the DVD edition, that movie was made in 1969 too...I guarantee a cool experience...now have a look at this, this is from woodstock 69 too, the Who, same concert..."perfect for 1969 film" ?? youtube.com/watch?v=BAyaZJBW_dc&hd=1

  • SORRY, THIS IS THE CORRECT LINK: youtube.com/watch?v=BAyaZJBW_dc&hd=1

  • it does´t work! okay , just look from any video from woostock on youtube in HD quality, you´ll be surprised!

  • @charliellorente It's phenomenal quality for 240p

  • @charliellorente you know, it´s about music something you apparently don´t know

  • @Jakubjbrunner. I Kknow it´s about music, that was not the point, if you read the other comments shared with other users ,I´m talking about how Woodstock was shot (35mm:cinema).If you mean that I don´t know about music...well, what can I say... youtube.com/watch?v=5xKHT8wLCaI

  • @charliellorente watch?v=5xKHT8wLCaI

  • @charliellorente watch?v=5xKHT8wLCaI

  • @charliellorente the sound is quite perfect ;)

  • @charliellorente he means the quality of the audio

  • @Keith293 The concert was recorded on a high quality professional tapes ,valve pre-mic inputs and mastered at a very expensive professional studio, this was 4 years before Alan Parsons engineering masterpiece "The dark side of the moon" by Pink Floyd, sound engineers and technicians at that time were genuine pioneers, artists and improvisation masters. so huge concerts in 1969 were an authentic challenge much more for engineers than for the musicians themselves. All my admiration !!!

  • Not one shot of John through his entire Bass solo.... and that solo basically made that song for me :(

  • sucks

  • did pete shit his pants? xD

  • Just as the dawn breaks, The Who finish their set.

  • "We knew we were gonna come back back and do it"

    "Fuck YOU"

    "Yeah, Sorry"

    CLASSIC TOWNSHEND

  • Haha hes so high

  • This was when music meant something.

  • im a teenager. and i was just wondering was being a teenager back in the 60's as great as i make it out to be in my mind? because it sure seems like this was just the greatest and most fun time to be alive! :) i would do anything to get to go to woodstock! :)

  • I WONDER WHERE THAT GUITAR THAT HE THREW OUT IN THE CROWD IS NOW?

  • @jakhammer122003 I think one of the roadies got it back.

  • @jakhammer122003 its in a museum now!

  • 4:29 Hmm Peter gratte son cul !

  • Which do you guys think is

    1. the best live performance by the who of this song

    2. the greatest cover of this song?

  • What is that song in second part?

  • @TheGrungeManiak A Who jam of Bill Haley's "Farewell-So Long-Goodbye"

  • at 1:06 the bass solo comes in a bit early

  • @ThePopoop

yeah, john messed it up but he saved it pretty fast

  • though i kinda feel bad about advertising, cause i hate when people do that. sorry

  • @jfrey0725 I usually get mad about that as well, but the video looks great. HUGE improvement.

  • ive got a better quality version, check it out on my channel

  • What a great time... Thousands of fans and everybody's high and listens to great music...

  • 3:15 - most awesome scene from woodstock ever! the impression of the girl dancing with the jet on the sky is brilliant

  • wow, there are 39 people who are the epitome of what's wrong with THIS generation and music today.

  • 39 people are part of MY generation (which suxs)

  • Wow Pete, throw me a SG you just smashed off the stage.

  • Goddamn, I love this performance and I love the who. But the guys that filmed this should be fired. I mean, who the hell films roger or pete doing nothing while John is playing the most sick basssolos on earth.

  • Comment removed

  • It must have been fucking loud there

  • my generation, the new millenia generation, should just have never been born. all this new music is just, well not even music. i wish i was born in the 50's to go to woodstock, where REAL music changed the world, and experience the beatles; even some people don't like them nirvana was the last 'band'. after them it just became boy bands such as the jonas brothers and justin beiber. R.I.P. true rock n' roll (and any real music) :(

  • @zIsebsmithIz Then go and MAKE SOME

  • oh gawd, oh gawd, ooo, ooo, ooooooo, ahhhhhh, YES!!!

  • 0:40 - 4:39 - goosebumps

    2:25 - 4:00 - FUCKIN' GOOSEBUMPS!

  • grazie a dio ho cercato questo video e finalmente l' ho trovato, ti bacerei in bocca....

  • Woodstock was apparently hell if you were actually there. its great for us watching it in our cosy commodes.

  • absolutely beautiful... how i wish i was around then.

  • Holy shit, John! There's an enormous spider on your back!! XD

  • Is this song from the movie Eurotrip ?

  • On every Who video, it looks like the cameramen will do anything not to show John!

  • this makes me wanna build a time machine

  • dont complain about being in the "wrong generation". 2019. 50 years anniversary should be huge. they cant put fake bands in the lineup. rage against the machine, pearl jam, the casualties, star fucking hipsters, the offspring, fatter than albert, stuck lucky. theres good musicians still on tour, you just gotta look.

  • @minigravette1 I wish my band could play there!!

  • @minigravette1 lets just hope someone puts something amazing and beautiful for the 50th. I just want it to be great, and to give off good vibes.

  • wonderfull

  • My dad was 16 when this happened.

    He still regrets not going..

  • This is kind of irrelevant but my hair looks just like Pete's but with longer bangs.

  • Yeah men we missed one of the best moments in men's history

  • There was a time were we were almost there...

I hope That time will came again when im still alive.....

  • @heavymt You guys experience woodstock, but without the great musicians, every spring break. Sex, drugs, and rock and roll!

  • nahh muy hippie!!!

  • so cool: above the dancer, US Air Force, or Air National Guard (whatever it's called) jet flying overhead @ 3:27 - 3:29 !!!

  • SHANGHAI KNIGHTS!

  • lol they were on an unwanted lsd trip that whole time too

  • Their Eyes!

    They must be HIGH!

  • wonder what person got hit in the face by the guitar he threw, fucking brute

  • 2:25 looks like Dig a Pony

  • @VictorYoiti

That's not....that's "Naked Eye" by The Who

  • i hate these lucky bastards thatve been there

  • 4:31 there pete's ass?

  • Hue ! Hey DUDES !!! , SAME GUY BUT , GUESS WHAT 42 years AGO , 1969 , " MY GENEREATION ) The Who , and Also From The Original CSI , Based in Vegas ( Who Are , YOU, Who , Who ,

  • that was a cool generation, now we got justin bieber :(

  • that was a cool generation, now we got justin bieber :(

  • 2:25 4:39 must be played at my funeral

  • 38 people are not talking about their generation...

  • We had a school bands concert today which was amazing, but one thing shocked me the most. One band start talking about how they're gonna pay a tribute to Woodstock 69, right away I was thinking "My God, could it be The Who?", and then they said they made a special guitar for this event, and 5 seconds later I hear My Generation. But doing an awesome job with the cover wasn't enough for that so they SMASHED the guitar like crazy at the end. I felt so proud to be a rock fan!

  • @Boky505 oh my god i wanna do that so bad!!!

  • WE ARE THE MODS!!

  • why don't ya all FFFFFF...FADE AWAY. priceless.

  • little did they no they got old

  • a back in the day when music was made by humans and not by computers.

  • @allah211 & @ronarocha yea its called "Naked Eye" this just a shortened version of it I guess

  • Hahahahahahahaha! "Who" said "FUCK YOU"! At 0:20!?

  • such a clever song!!

  • @Locomikey666 woah calm down. I'm not making fun of the music; I'm making a simple observation that the singer is singing in the way that someone with tourettes would speak. i know he doesn't always sound like this, so i just wanted an explanation, which i got from someone else. good day

  • the who played 4 hours non-stop that day...

  • I've asked this question everywhere but nobody knows!! Why does the singer sing like he has tourettes syndrome?? I think it's really detracting from the music.
