It's all facts instead of lame opinions!!
he was cut cause of personal issues and mostly it was his fine... Can't wait to see him back the BEST judoka in MMA hands down and a fighter who actually adopts his throws like no one else!
@IN5YOUR5FACE5 hes far from the best judoka in mma but uses his judo very well in fights. He seems like a right little prick from what i saw of him on TUF
It is very very hard to throw and manipulate anyone in no gi Judo,
Furthermore the mats your train on make it extremely hard ot fight, almost like fighting on plastic sheets with washing up liquid on it.
Again it is VERY hard, Mr.Parysian has many years of experience aswell as being an acomplished Hayastan fighter, dont even get me started on no Gi newaza.
Any Judoka on this video page will agree with me to get good at no gi is to start training alot with out your gi, and fast,
Yes, I'll have to agree with you on that. I finally have another Judoka training Gracie Jujitsu with me. There is not as much to grab on to with out the Gi and once you both get sweaty it gets even more difficult. But at least its good to start throwing and being thrown again with Judo techniques. Most of the guys training here rely on wrestling takedowns and really don't like being thrown.
very good point. Its very easy to do throws with the gi. There are however some very good throws you can do without the gi. Hip and shoulder throws are perfect in mma and street fighting.
How is it Greco stuff when the two videos BOTH show techniques that involve using your legs or their legs to throw them??? Greco doesn't allow any use of the leg trips/sweeps or any holds below the waist. If anything, you mean freestyle wrestling, and yes there are similarities in how the techniques look. There is also a big difference in the philosophy behind the techniques. No-gi Judo IS very similar to freestyle wrestling, but also very different in other ways.
He has the most takedowns and most throws in the ufc!! He has like 3 judo throws just in one fight Proven fact!! Even fuken wrestlers like sherk hughes and kos don't have that it was released in the UFC magazine!!
@IN5YOUR5FACE5 BUT.... GSP will get the record pretty soon. He's averaging about 7-9 takedowns a fight over the last few matches. I think Fedor has the most in MMA, with Karo in second, and GSP in 3rd.
gremlin, it's gonna be Combat SAMBO because you can strike in combat SAMBO. Judo HAS strikes, but they aren't allowed in randori (free sparring basically) or competition. If you mean regular SAMBO or Judo you're getting basically the same techniques. Watch regular SAMBO and Judo matches, and you'll see they're almost identical.
I struggle with Judo throws most of the time because I do them to slowly and then the other guy sees it coming and breaks up my party. However I am really tall and heavy so other guys struggle to throw me since I pick them up of the ground completely. I was about to get hip tossed once and I grabbed the guys upper leg just as he went for it and picked him up and slammed him. Judo throws really rely on speed and surprise.
not really. im one of the smaller guys in my gym and when i grapple with the bigger guys throws are my main weapon of choice because they are almost effortless when done right.
that was right after the burkman fight!! I would say and MMA weekly that was the fight of the night!! That shit was funny he has great sense of humor.. LOL
Yes one was Chris lytle that karo threw him and he almost broke his neck. The other one was Diego that kept landing on his head and he mentioned during his interview that karo's throws hurt him allot and he had internal damage after that fight! His throws are brutal man and he did a seminar in Jersey and he threw me couple of times didn't even know what hit me I was so fast in the air.. LOL
I know man other judokas pull it off with the gi in tournaments. But it's fuken AMAZING watching a judoka like karo parisyan adopting the same throws with so much strength and endurance in MMA without the gi which is extremely hard when karo dumps his opponents on their heads!! One word unbelievable!!
I saw one of his fights where he threw the opponent on his head, and I thought the dudes neck was broken. Luckily he was fine, but Karo has amazing throws.
Karo Parisyan is the man! hands down my favorite 170lb fighter in MMA .. and a word on Judo..I think Judo (when done right) is the most beautiful martial art in the world...especially in terms of self defense, it seems to be the most effective technique.
there was the breaking of balance, speed, right technique...now you tell me if the guy who got thrown was able to resist at all.....i understand its not always that perfect
whats in your mind is
"I'm a brown belt and it is hard to throw a resisting opponent"
its really hard to throw a resisting opponent. you need to break the balance before you execute a throw...again judo means GENTLE WAY......your a brown belt you should have known that by now....when you become a black belt maybe you will understand what judo is really all about
Your mocking Betrayer about throwing a resisting opponent perhaps he is speaking of his own brown belt level of competition. I don't think when he was talking about throwing a resisting white belt.
Shut the Fuck up. Do you do Judo? Doesn't sound like you have any knowledge of what you're talking about. I'm a brown belt and it is hard to throw a resisting opponent. If you did do Judo it sure does sounds like you sucked at it pussy.
i know where your coming from but isko makes a point although a toug opponent is common in judo of course WE KILL B JJ PEOPLE STANDING UP AS WELL AS ON THE GROUND, but you need to break kuzushi
BJJ probably is the best Newaza. The fact that it is closely related to judo doesn't mean that it can't be better than Judo in some areas. I still prefer Judo but let's not pretend that because Judo is older it's better.

"I train six days a week a different combination each day of two of the following: Wrestling, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, boxing, Muay Thai, Strength & Conditioning/Running, and MMA sparring.
lol..omg...dude the guy has a book which is fuken trmendouse second, his been doing his shit since he was 10 how can amatures like you even try to say that he ain't a good..lol...you idiots crack me up...one of the best instructors I'm dying to get him in my school to teach..fuken awesome karo!!
this 10 min. instruction is pointless. none of them will be able to do any of these moves he showed without formal Kodokan Judo training, because they don't understand concept and physics ot these moves.if they want to be able to apply judo throws, they need to take judo instructions from a judo Master, not Karo. Drop Saionagi is a dangerous move for someone who can't do even normal saionagi. That uchimata variotion is a good idea, but it will work only against a noob. IMHO
I totally disagree. I think anyone can do these moves, but the execution will be much sloppier. If you think about it, take away the gi, and the physics behind the throw remain constant (the same). The gi is useful for "tightening" up your technique, and learning the finer points of the throw. But as for simply learning the fundamentals of leverage, momentum, etc., it is absolutely possible to learn it no-gi. Wrestlers do it, BJJ guys do it...
I wasn't talking about gi or no gi. I was talking about the technique. He shows variation and not breaking the move down. I don't understand why would anyone want to throw sloppy, instead of learning correct technique and then perfecting it. Please, name me one BJJ fighter or wrestler who uses uchi-mata, saionagi, osoto-gari in their fights. None of them do, cause these are difficult moves to actually implement without constant practice.
How about....Because Regular competition Judo or judo "the art" doesn't mean a damn thing unless you know how to apply it when you've got trained professionals swinging at your face and kicking at your body.
I used to practice judo and competed in tournaments, but now I have a family and a full time job and its realy hard to find some extra time for martial arts. Maybe one day I'll get back into it.
Please watch UFC, Pride, WEC, DREAM, etc. There are dozens of fighters that use these throws. Karo, GSP, Aoki, Sokoudjou, Florian, etc. I train with Rashad Evans and his grappling coach Matt Torres, and he's asked me about some Judo throws to supplement his wrestling. FYI, I'm a Sankyu certified by the USJF, under Sensei Tom Sheehan, MSU Judo Club. Sensei Sheehan is a RokuDan (6th Degree Black Belt), and has personally instructed me for over 3 years- I know what I'm talking about.
Anyways... this is a 10 minute clip. We don't know how long he works with these students, so we can't know what he does/did before/after this clip. Like any good Sensei, I'm sure he corrects technique as he sees errors. No one wants to learn sloppy technique- but realistically, that's how it's going to be in a fight. Most professional fighters I personally know, learn no-gi first, then train with a gi to tighten up their technique for the reason you stated.
Hey tough guy you think you can take karo down??????? hahahahahahahahahahahaha....ummmm....why don't you bring your sorry ass to the gym!! I'm one of his students and "IF" you can pass me than you will have your chance with karo LOL!!
Lol You know it's really funny that some people don't even know karo and they assume things hahaha!! Karo is a legend in judo and he was goanna go far but instead he decided to do MMA and the ufc just took him!!
"The nice ones get a medal" LOL You're stupid his throws are impeccable and his teaching a class its no about "showing off" Karo is mostly a how stealer in the ufc!! And personally you don even know him!!
Karo knows his stuff and his extremely good especially, without the gee! It's "not" that easy just to try it like that lol, that's fucken work right there!

How about....Because Regular competition Judo or judo "the art" doesn't mean a damn thing unless you know how to apply it when you've got trained professionals swinging at your face and kicking at your body.
kataeb4ever 3 years ago 3
are you doing judo by the way?
doeiffeo 3 years ago

Most professional fighters I personally know, learn no-gi first, then train with a gi to tighten up their technique for the reason you stated.

i have to agree with you butthis video is a great instruction for judo guys who have to varaite their technique for mma ufc....

what (no gi) judo throw(s), leg sweep/wrap/trip(s) do you prefer if your opponent is much heavier and much taller ?
thanks !
cburcinc 3 years ago
To me it depends on the stance or what either gives. But if I had to choose, I'd go w/the taller guy.
chezzy10 3 years ago
sorry, perhaps you misunderstood my question.
If your opponent is MUCH heavier and/or taller, what judo takedown(s) do you prefer,
ippon seio nage, o goshi, ouchi gari, etc. ?
For example, no matter WHAT he is giving me, I find it much easier to do a ouchi gari, than an ippon seio nage.
cburcinc 3 years ago
i really like morote-seo nage and ogoshi for those fat bastards.
and tai-0-toshi,
