Nonetheless, we recognize our responsibility as citizens to pay for these expenditures, which were authorized by our elected representatives, and are therefore ultimately our collective responsibility. That is an intrinsic part of living in a democracy: you don't get to opt out."--Patriotic Millionaires
"First, we are well aware that making voluntary contributions to reduce the deficit is an option that is open to us. That you seem to think reminding us of this is a constructive contribution to this serious debate indicates that you have missed the point. In our democracy, individual citizens do not get to pick and choose what government spending to pay for. You and your colleagues over the past decade have voted for vast outlays that many of us as individuals might not agree with...
What these self-serving clowns who want higher taxes (just don't want to pay them unilaterally) don't mention is, despite several instances in history where federal recepits increased markedly (compared to inflation), the govt always blows through that cash and then some.
So here we see the true, ugly face of collectivism:"We all have to hold hands and do it together."
These two-dozen men could wipe out most of our national debt and STILL have enough to live like kings for the rest of their lives - but THAT is not what they want!
They want a government gun pointing at everyone's heads to *MAKE* them comply!
THEY all have lawyers and specialist accountants to exploit loopholes so they don't pay anymore than they must - and this will continue after any new law!!!
SHARRI: Actually, even counting OCO in defense spending, Social Secuirty & Medicare blow defense spending out-of-the-water. There have been decades where defense spending was actually cut against the rate of inflation, that has never happened with Social Security or Medicare.
SHERRI: Thanks for the hearsay story about your "rich uncle." I was simply pointing out to you that Social Security & Medicare cost us more than defense. I haven't even included means-tested welfare (food stamps, Medicaid, home heating assitance, etc). I do think US troops in 130+ countries is unconstitutional, silly and a waste of money.
HaHa now ask the all the rich people who push for the $900B in defense spending to contribute their own money towards that, bet they won't either!, those guys want to spend huge money on defense spending but don't want to pay the taxes to actually pay for it.
We have within the bounds of our constitution a natural resource whereby we could invoke that would eliminate all taxation and our national debt without cutting Gov. spending. Check this out ----> Go you yout tube and search Points And Legal Authorities L A Brunson
Duh, give my money to the department of treasury.....duh, I just want to make a statement.....duh, I don't want to donate my money.....duh, I want the gobernut to force everyone to pay more......duh, I guess that yes, I AM A RICH HYPOCRITE....duh, with a "heart and compassion"
Great video! They choose to give their money to charities that are important to them. They wouldn't even give a few thousand. This should tell you something.
I love those glasses.
