I was very saddened to recently discover the passing of Mike Ahern. Many, many fond memories of "Your DJ Mike A" on Radio Caroline South from 9.00am and 12 midday between April 1966 and August 1967. Sadly and criminally passed over on British airwaves post M.O.A...but our loss was Australia's gain. We'll never hear the like of him or indeed, any of the stations again. A whole generation will never ever forget you, Mike, you were one of the best. R.I.P.

On Wednesday I spent the day in Southend so I walked right to the end of the pier, as this was the day of Mikes funeral I paused for thought and spent a few minutes looking out to sea and remembering "Your DJ Mike A".
