  • best lesson for this song, great format, i'll be looking back for more!

  • Thanks for your "nossel".

    Personally, I think Travis picking is easier if you use four fingers instead of three, like in T+R - I - M - T - R - I - M - T+R...

    Cheers!

  • Great lesson! I'm playing it! very very slow... But I'm playing it! Thanks!!!!!!!

  • Hey Branner, I have another question: why's your Easy Street shirt on in reverse?? :)

  • @thvogl yeah.. i used to use quicktime to record., and it made a mirror image!

  • thank you. it help a lot.

  • Weeeeeeird chords.

  • You rock! Thank you very much!

  • its teh same pattern of dust in the wind! Really easy!

  • i love it!! your guitar sounds amazing, what kind is it?

  • @meizlovely thanks so much for the kind words!.. it's just an ol' taylor 314 i've had for about ten years. glad you liked it..e

  • @ebranner is it steel stringed? cz my guitar is steel stringed and i was wondering if the finger picking technique would work on it..

  • Can someone post the tabs?? I have problems to figure out the chords....

  • once again: awesome work!

got one question: i'm playing git for a few years but have less picking experience

i watched your tut and some other travis-picking patterns and here's the question:

the patterns i've seen used to have a break on 4+

    in your tut you come up to 4 too ( 1 + 2 + 3 + 4) and leave out the 4+ pick

is there a break on 4+ in the guaranteed-style picking cause i can't figure it out be listening to the song ( i would say no) or do you play a 7/8 beat?

  • music is beautiful wonder

  • awesome - thx! :)

  • I watched a lot of tutorials on guaranteed and yours was the one I learned to play the song with. I absolutely love it.

    Greetings from Germany!

  • ewwww a lefty

    jk, great lesson

  • you are great!!!!!!!!!!

  • This was great -- thank you!

  • thank you!

  • absolutely brilliant lesson!! looked way too hard for me at first but you explained it so well! much appreciated

  • @Falmanable ... hey man.. thanks so much.. glad you dug the lesson! travis picking is really worth learning how to do..

  • Great!

  • might be easier if it wasnt a backward video. The text on your shirt is backward

  • Question- I just tuned my guitar, but when I play this song, it doesn't sound right. Like, off key. Do you have your guitar tuned differently than the standard style?

  • pretty cool ! thanks for all your explanations !!!

  • thanx thumbs up

  • This is one of the best teaching vids I've seen! I can't wait to see more mate. Thanks.

  • finally someone who can actually teach it. if youre looking for a good tutorial youll definitely be able to learn the song from this guy... guaranteed.

  • Hey, thank you very much for posting this lesson, it really helps a lot :) .

But I'm still confused about the travis picking. I'm french, so my english sucks when it comes to understand what you're saying about the picking from 2:49 to the rest of the video. Could you explain a little bit more about this part, because i'd really love to learn that song.

Thanks, and keep on posting !

  • Such a great song... -and great lesson! Best one on youtube.

It's the first song I learn on guitar (just bought my first guitar), so I really appreciate you explaining things properly so beginners like me can learn too.

But damn, it's hard! I've been practicing for three months now and I got it all down accept the proper speed..

Thanks a lot for this lesson, you are doing a great job.

  • thanks a lot

i had a problem with the right hand but you helped (:

  • i'm so pumped to learn this. thank you so much for the great instructions!

    :)

  • your video is backwards.. so not really helpful unless i want to try to pull a Jimi Hendrix in my mind.. you must have a Mac.

  • Thanks, this has been on the list to learn and you could not have made it easier! I spent the last two days learning Tuolomne and Guaranteed. My first intro to

Travis picking, also was on the list to learn. You have a great teaching style by referencing the chord name and modifications then picking pattern. Thanks again.

  • Thanks mate, I was too lazy to take the time to work this out. I youtubed it and found you. Good teaching. Keep it up.

  • thnx man... great tutorial... i could play the song but i had problems with the travis picking, no video explained the whole song as good as you.. yay! hahaha

    cheers man!

  • 4:22 Stop! Hammer Time!

  • ur amazing man, x thanks!

  • Hey, thanks a lot, that was useful. Could you please post one for Long Nights too? I would be so grateful. :)

  • amazing lesson man! i learned the whole song just from this, didn't have to go around searching for tabs online or switching between lesson videos. This is clear and concise. Could you possibly make a lesson for Don't Think Twice It's Alright by Bob Dylan ?

  • barres take some practice. make sure that your barre is as close to the next fret as possible. you'll get it.. although challenging,, this is a good one to practice, as it's only four string barre. remember, you're only really pushing down the first and second string with the barre!

  • @ebranner thanks a lot indeed!

  • @ebranner Hey I like your instruction videos, they're really good. I have an idea for you, if you want to make another. It's a danish band called Dizzy Mizz Lizzy and the song is called Silverflame, go check it out if you want.

    Happy new year!! =)

  • hi..can i use the regular ver of the G chord instead? My guitar makes a nasty buzz when I play barre chords..

  • Hi..my guitar is buzzing when I play barre chords..can i use this version of the G chord instead? Thanks

  • i'm a lefty too :) yay.

  • @rorzz129 he isn't left handed, he is looking in a mirror

  • @METALLICA4EVER1547 oh. go me :) nice one metallica.

  • I really cant do this my hands are too small :O ...

  • Perfect. Thank you.

  • Excellent lesson! Really clear & helpful. Thanks so much.

  • Awesome dude, thanks a mill!

  • watch?v=7NSG467OMkM

  • difficult but very clear :P thanks a lot for the time :D but i have a question what's the name of the second chord?

  • very clear best lesson for this song

    thnks from germany

  • Thanks. Very helpful

  • thank u alot ;D

  • Thanks man. The right hand took me a while to get down, but I've got it now. It sounds to me like Tuolumne is actually the same picking pattern, but the tabs that are floating around out there differ.

  • Hey!!

thank U man...so clear with right hand.

    I got it!

  • Great lesson. Can you to JUST BREATH by Pearl Jam? It sounds like it might be the same picking pattern??

  • hey! I recently finished learning to play Good Riddance so Guaranteed is the next one. I've been practicing the fingering and chord shapes according to your directions, and I only have one question so far related to chord shapes: from B flat I move to C major (I can do the Cmaj shape but I will only play the first four strings), then while still doing the Cmaj shape I repeat the travis picking, but this time I strum the 5th string instead of the 4th as in the previous picking, right?

  • You're a great teacher- made it very clear. I appreciate the lesson.

  • One of the best lessons out there.

  • hey man this is awesome. im just wondering though, after that part how does the strum pattern go? or is it just repeating what you showed us over and over. i mean you switched it up a bit at the end and im wondering if we keep that pattern fartehr into the song or if it is just the basic pattern using the first four strings

  • dude, thanks so much for explaining not only the type of picking but also for actually naming the chords and mentioning the right fingering for each one! So far, yours is the most educational tutorial for Guaranteed that I've seen on You Tube!

  • hey thanks so much.. if there's anything that you're burning to learn and can't find a good lesson.. just let me know. i'll post a tutorial for you.

  • thanks man. best lesson ive had so far on you tube. .. i have one question though...... in the original track theres an added bend just after he plays the c and is heading towards the g.. ? its a shot in the dark.. but i cant figure it out?

  • thanks.. give me the second(time) marking for where in the song you're talking about.. i'll post how to do it!

  • Great video , any tips for building up speed with the travis picking?

  • yes.. practice the travis picking very slowly... planting your fingertips before you play.. planting is great for accuracy. for speed, try shuffling the rhythm. like a blues. will make every other note faster, and the latter slower! slow practice is always good!

  • Eric! thanks for all the tips, Cant wait for summer!
