got one question: i'm playing git for a few years but have less picking experience
i watched your tut and some other travis-picking patterns and here's the question:
the patterns i've seen used to have a break on 4+
in your tut you come up to 4 too ( 1 + 2 + 3 + 4) and leave out the 4+ pick
is there a break on 4+ in the guaranteed-style picking cause i can't figure it out be listening to the song ( i would say no) or do you play a 7/8 beat?
Question- I just tuned my guitar, but when I play this song, it doesn't sound right. Like, off key. Do you have your guitar tuned differently than the standard style?
finally someone who can actually teach it. if youre looking for a good tutorial youll definitely be able to learn the song from this guy... guaranteed.
Hey, thank you very much for posting this lesson, it really helps a lot :) .
But I'm still confused about the travis picking. I'm french, so my english sucks when it comes to understand what you're saying about the picking from 2:49 to the rest of the video. Could you explain a little bit more about this part, because i'd really love to learn that song.
Such a great song... -and great lesson! Best one on youtube.
It's the first song I learn on guitar (just bought my first guitar), so I really appreciate you explaining things properly so beginners like me can learn too.
But damn, it's hard! I've been practicing for three months now and I got it all down accept the proper speed..
Thanks a lot for this lesson, you are doing a great job.
Thanks, this has been on the list to learn and you could not have made it easier! I spent the last two days learning Tuolomne and Guaranteed. My first intro to
Travis picking, also was on the list to learn. You have a great teaching style by referencing the chord name and modifications then picking pattern. Thanks again.
thnx man... great tutorial... i could play the song but i had problems with the travis picking, no video explained the whole song as good as you.. yay! hahaha
amazing lesson man! i learned the whole song just from this, didn't have to go around searching for tabs online or switching between lesson videos. This is clear and concise. Could you possibly make a lesson for Don't Think Twice It's Alright by Bob Dylan ?
barres take some practice. make sure that your barre is as close to the next fret as possible. you'll get it.. although challenging,, this is a good one to practice, as it's only four string barre. remember, you're only really pushing down the first and second string with the barre!
@ebranner Hey I like your instruction videos, they're really good. I have an idea for you, if you want to make another. It's a danish band called Dizzy Mizz Lizzy and the song is called Silverflame, go check it out if you want.
Thanks man. The right hand took me a while to get down, but I've got it now. It sounds to me like Tuolumne is actually the same picking pattern, but the tabs that are floating around out there differ.
hey! I recently finished learning to play Good Riddance so Guaranteed is the next one. I've been practicing the fingering and chord shapes according to your directions, and I only have one question so far related to chord shapes: from B flat I move to C major (I can do the Cmaj shape but I will only play the first four strings), then while still doing the Cmaj shape I repeat the travis picking, but this time I strum the 5th string instead of the 4th as in the previous picking, right?
hey man this is awesome. im just wondering though, after that part how does the strum pattern go? or is it just repeating what you showed us over and over. i mean you switched it up a bit at the end and im wondering if we keep that pattern fartehr into the song or if it is just the basic pattern using the first four strings
dude, thanks so much for explaining not only the type of picking but also for actually naming the chords and mentioning the right fingering for each one! So far, yours is the most educational tutorial for Guaranteed that I've seen on You Tube!
thanks man. best lesson ive had so far on you tube. .. i have one question though...... in the original track theres an added bend just after he plays the c and is heading towards the g.. ? its a shot in the dark.. but i cant figure it out?
yes.. practice the travis picking very slowly... planting your fingertips before you play.. planting is great for accuracy. for speed, try shuffling the rhythm. like a blues. will make every other note faster, and the latter slower! slow practice is always good!
best lesson for this song, great format, i'll be looking back for more!

Thanks for your "nossel".
Personally, I think Travis picking is easier if you use four fingers instead of three, like in T+R - I - M - T - R - I - M - T+R...
Cheers!
