  • @paulmcjagger ¡Idiota!

  • i can hear a lot of differences more than similarities

  • Comment removed

  • except Frances Limon follows different chord progression and music theory than Satriani's, where Satriani's and Coldplay's are identical. And if you want to take it that far, look up Cat Steven's 'foreigner's suite', where Enanitos probably stole their song. You can take this back to the Crusades for all I care, all melodies have been discovered and played at some point, it's just fact

  • Are you guys kidding me? COLDPLAY CAME FIRST!!! LAWL. deh arguments iz so funnah

  • hahaha xD lol, satriani just got owned by the intro riff and chorus, however, i'm a huge fan of satriani but this is just undeniable. btw is that my granny behind the drums?

  • satriani´s song is 2004 and Enanitos verdes´s song is 2002, so fuck you satriani, you fuckin loser

  • Satriani should sue these fuckers! They stole his song!!!!!

  • i kind of lost respect for satriani after he sued coldplay for a song he had stole already lol as a guitarist hes awsome but ehh...btw coldplay stole from satriani, satriani stole from enenitos verdes, and enanitos verdes stole from a 60s band i think or something like that

  • gabos original

  • They all copied Satriani!!!!

  • @SocalDNM well i doubt it since they made this song years before joe´s version...im a follower of both but yeah coldplay stole from joe, and joe copied from enanitos verdes, and i think they took it from a 70s not well known band

    pendejo

  • @xXwarstuserXx chingas a tu madre tambien puto maricon.

  • satrani ladron!

  • The Originator Is Cat Stevens which was back in 1973, so cat should sue everyone, even you the reader.....lol just kidding but check it out,

  • its bound to happen, notes are always tending to sound the same u got a chords and its scales...whatever maybe all three should get together and jam HARD!!

  • @jonguitarist you're f*ck*n' right!

  • The only similarity is the bend. that's it...

  • JAJA all copies, enanitos verdes should sue satriani, the same way satriani sue coldplay

  • mm pues sii fuera como dise

    dRaK0RaMone

  • Cat Stevens 1973 "Foreinger"

    Enanitos Verdes 2002 "Francés Limón"

    Joe Satriani 2004?? "Obvious plagiarism"

    Coldplay ??????????

  • Thess "beaners" came up with the song 2 years before satriani.. why the racism you moron?

  • @frankibiris76r lol They can't even be called beaners they're from Argentina. Just like me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @FunkyArgentinean some people are jsut stupid... mostly rednecks!! hahaha

  • @cheloba1 Fuck you beaner, White poeple are supreme to your people LOL

  • @SocalDNM lol what a dumbfuck.

  • @FunkyArgentinean Fuck argentina.

  • Comment removed

  • this is why i don't approve of joe suing coldplay. With that three note beginning with that rhythem, there's not too much that leads out of it. So it was bound to happen. Songs are similar, get over it.

  • Ladies Ladies... jajaja.

Enanitos Verde write this song on 2002 (amores lejanos)

Joe show his "Is there love in space" on 2004.

  • Its MELODY you daft, lilliputians! The cord progression and notes can be used, and be exact to other songs, in a myriad of ways. Its the MELODY that is EXACTLY the same from Coldplay vs. Satrianis' song. The illegal alien group, and Cat Stevens (some muslim now) sound NOTHING like 'If I could Fly' and THAT is what makes the Coldplay theft opf Satrianis' song the issue...not the progression or notes per se. Study some music theology before you attempt to write a clarified, intellectual point.

  • Illegal alien group? What comment is that?

By the way, Satriani obviously copied this song here (and improved, of course) and Coldplay stole the copy from Satriani.

Now, we have to find who Enanitos are copying :-)

  • @MrSinister99 Maybe you could open a dictionary before you go trying to make yourself sound smarter than you obviously aren't. Please, tell me about this "music theology" that you apparently know so much about. I'm intrigued! Idiot. It's music THEORY you retard, not theology!! LOL

    the·ol·o·gy

    noun,plural-gies.

    1. the field of study and analysis that treats of God and of God's attributes and relations to the universe; study of divinethings or religious truth; divinity.

  • Ah, what the hell, i'll beat you up as well. Now, daft one, this is called a TYPO, I of course meant THEORY (any two bit azz wipe could have figured that out, too bad you're a one bit) Next, if you had even a smidgen of intellect, you'd know that "dictionary" is the idiots terminology for the book, it's actually called a LEXICON! Now, need I continue, and prove your momma should swallowed? Or would you like to match that half wit (Obama like) primate brain, with mine? Like perhaps music THEORY?

  • LOL!!! Your unnecessarily verbose, pretentious vocab. neither intimidates, nor impresses me (or anyone else for that matter, I'm sure). As much as I would love to pick apart and argue your rambling, pompous reply line by line, I won't. I have more important things to do than play "whose vocabulary has the bigger dick". Now get back to your game of Warcraft, or masturbating to Battlestar Galactica or whatever it was you were doing.

  • Oh yea, I almost forgot -- I'll be sure to contact Webster's and let them know just what "idiots" they are. I'm sure that once they are so humbled by knowing that MrSinister99 has chosen the word "lexicon" over "dictionary" as the appropriate terminology, they'll see the error of their ways and immediately make the change to "Webster's Lexicon".

  • Watch out Enanitos, Joe may come after you next!!! :O

  • i dont thinks so cause ithink enanitos verdes made the song before joe satriani made his song

  • unless satriani can prove that he had been righting the song for several years as he claims.

    JAvo

  • Frances Le mon, love that part

  • suckerss

CAT STEVENS crated the song in 1973, called FOREIGNER SUITE

Then ENANITOS VERDES did the same in Frances Limon in 2002

Then Satriani in 2004 in if I Could Fly

And then Colplay did it with Viva la Vida

And also Alizze did it once

  • there was alos a unsighned new york band called the sqeaky boards or creaky boards onvolved

  • I totally agree on the Alizee part but stupid ppl keep on disagreein.

  • thats only one melody line...

this may be only my opinion but coldplay have the same melody(vocal), same chord progression, same tempo as satch's.

  • Joe Satriani tardó 10 años en componer If I Could Fly !...

  • OOO QUE ASCO WN

  • Come on, don't be immature. Satriani has got TEMPO, GROOVE, CHORD PROGRESSION, and MELODY on coldplay, this would only have melody on Satriani

  • true that but very similar

  • Don't forget to add this band, "creaky boards - the songs i didn't write" at least they were honest with their song title

  • and here goes another one...i mean, it's a pretty easy and basic chord progression...let's all chalk it up to coincidence and the fact that maybe musicians are not that creative when it comes to chords? at least not as much we would like to believe...

  • Band or musician: Enanitos Verdes / Song: Frances Limon / Year: 2002

Band or musician: Joe Satrini / Song: If I Could Fly / Year: 2004

Band or musician: Coldplay / Song: Viva la Vida / Year: 2008

Thief who robs thief, 100 years of forgiveness!!

  • Band or musician;Cat Steven/Song: Love / Heaven / Year :1973

  • Really? ha ha ha It must be the most used melody in the history. I will search that song! :D

  • is very close, i saw the video and in 3:19 is the moment that you said that are the same, the thing is more closer enanitos verdes to satriani than the others....

  • How could Satrani have stolen this?

It took him 10 years to write it, and it was for his wife!!

  • dude that sounds pretty close...but which song came out first?

  • coldplay wrote viva la vida years before if i could fly, take that into concideration

  • Are you nuts joe satriani released the song in 2004.

  • there is more than one great musical mind in the world.

  • Wow get over it, there are thousands of guitarists and melodies, its bound to be played a couple of times by different people all over the world

  • this song is very very very similar to Coldplay's Viva la Vida. the intro and of course the solo. Towards the middle the lyrics sound similar as well. 1:35

  • satrianis song doesnt sound anything like this song with the exception of three notes and you cant put a copyright on a note!!!But you can copyright a phrasing of notes which is called a melody and satriani didnt do that but coldplay certainlty did so.People get inspired by other peoples music to get ideas but to blatantly rip off a complete section of a song is plagiarism.

  • It's VERY difficult to prove plagiarism. And Viva la vida is a chord progression in the key of Fminor, thats starts with the sixth , then goes with the seventh, the third and the tonic (Fminor). Satriani STARTS with the fourth, then goes on with the same chords. So what you say that Coldplay ripped off a "complete" chord progression is false. And if you say that Coldplay copied Satriani, then SAtriani copied Enanitos Verdes... so... is Satriani plagied... can he sue for plagiarism too??

  • You make a good point but its way too close to say its just a coincidence. He substituted one chord but the timing the rythme and the phrasing is all the same.

The case with enanito a couple of notes are similar satriani didnt ripp off the whole song.If you want to hear a real ripp off look up the beatles dont let me down and bon jovi i'll be there for you.Listen to the chorus of the beatles and the opening vocals of bonjovi.

    peace.

  • Yeah, could be... but like I said, proving that Coldplay plagied Satriani is very very hard. Anyone could present a very good point, favorizing both sides

PD: sorry for my english it's not my birth language

    PD2: my pleasure jimmy ;-)

  • sortile thanx for not being arrogant. Its very rare to have an intelligent conversation when disagreeing on something or being corrected on a topic.

  • tengo el pene hinchado...

  • Yes, actually the same standards and chord progressions are used over and over in music, the same goes for rythms and styles. For example, try to listen to "Frontera", a song recorded by Phil Manzanera an Robert Wyatt around 1975, and you could hear the resemblance between that and lots of tunes to be recorded later, by Latinamerican bands. By the way, Manzanera is Peruvian an Coldplay sucks

    dejense d joder!!

  • this is like michael jackson/rihanna/jamaicanguy

  • LOL, enanitos sucks, no, you suck

    i like them both

but i like more enanitos verdes

    by the way im mexican

  • Frankly, if you sucked anymore you would inhale your own dick.

  • no if i sucked more i would be american

by the way.....im sorry to confuse you, mexico , another country besides usa

  • lol i liked that that's reall funny you made my day i'm bolivian but watch all these other people ask if that's a city in mexico

  • Frances limon was made after If I Could fly

  • No it wasn't I had the album in 2002.the song was recorded in 2001. Go to there web site it tells you the year of release.

  • Gee doesn'this make joe look like an ass!

  • Its really just the beginning of the solo,

so if this band should sew anyone its coldplay

  • this band shld sue coldplay and satriani then.

  • There's no copy from Satch at the song of Enanitos verdes cuz there's no more than 15% of the song that have the same melody, Satch only play this part 3 times in like 30 segs, so there's no copy. But Coldplay use the melody and almost the same things of "If I could fly" like a 60% of the song

  • Comment removed

  • Satch never copy music, he create music!

Enanitos Verdes, i never heard of em & i dont think Satch ever heard of em also! Btw thats not the same melody AT ALL!

Satch music is more beautiful, thats why Copyplay, Coldgay,or Coldplay copy it bcoz their song Viva..shit..la..shit specially the intro & the riff are very similar to Satch's song If i could fly! Admit it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Well that's my opinion, sorry!

  • it's an ascending minor scale, melodic sequence, this isn't copying joe satriani. joe satriani's song is in major, meaning for all the noobs, it's a different chord progression.

this type of riff is common. the riff is going up the scale and its a melodic sequence. the simplest of simple.

again, it's in MINOR. very different.

  • Hmm, that makes sense.

And it's genius, I believe I'm about to go and rewrite every song and flip minor/major keys.

You're welcome, everybody; I've just doubled the number of songs out there.

Ha, I'm joking. But major to minor doesn't mean very different. It just means it's changed.

Oh, and not taking sides here.

  • it is very different. if you haven't noticed any differences between songs that sound happy and songs that sound gloomy then you need to get your ears checked. using different chords can change the structure of the song. everyone already knows the minor scale is a major 3rd of a major scale, so you don't have to mention simplistic things.

how common is going up a scale, and then using a melodic sequence or going up a scale? man, cmon. satriani's has a different rhythm, and at points hitsamenote

  • Lol, yeah, but it's a different sound, not too different a structure. It's like building something out of lego's or k'nex.

And when it's supposed to sound different, and it still sounds that similar, lol, that's not good.

  • Unfortunately in the goerge harrison case the judge didn't care for notes and scales they sound the same and like you said it is common.Cold play nor joe or enanitos verdes own this tune. The case will be dissmissed .

  • I love Satch. I like Coldplay. That said. Joe should withdraw his lawsuit. His melody and chords are more similar to this than coldplay is to his song. Especially as this features a guitar playing that very 5 or 6 note melody.

He is acting like a plonker and is so not cool.

  • The melody of If I could fly starts out similar to this one, but they resolve differntly so I could infer that Satriani did get inspiration from this, but it's not the same melody.

  • satriani/ verdes / coldplay / cat stevens, who gives a shit, just listen to the music these guys put out for our pleasure as well as thier own.....dog eat dog its all bollocks, just play the fucking music again and enjoy... any version will do, the're all good....................{-_-}/")

  • Sounds more like Santana than Satriani.

  • All 3 sound the same, lets just be honest.

I believe its all just a pure coincidence

  • this doesn't sound the same at all, just that one bend sounds the same

  • Sounds quite similar to Satriani's version however, they way both Satriani and Verdes jazzes up the melody makes the sound different in the end.

Verdes' melody kinda makes me feel sad and then gives me a feeling that it'll be alright somehow...is that weird?

  • we can not compare each is very talented this song is awesome.

  • great bass

  • reminds me of Santana

  • no way, not that similar to Satriani's song

  • you must not have listened to around 3:15....it's a dead ringer

  • It's a bit of a stretch to say they sound the same.

Viva la vida and If I could fly do sound the same, you could play both at the same time in harmony. It's almost the same.

  • This song here and Satriani's song sound more alike than Satriani's song and Viva la Vida.

They all sound like Cat Stevens' Heaven.

  • what are you a fucking idiot? this sounds more like satriani's song than coldplay does. pull your head out of your ass moron

  • sorry i'm not a tone-deaf fucking idiot and i can pick out obvious similarities in songs... get your mouth off of satriani's balls for 5 seconds and maybe you'll hear it too. faggot

  • Don't forget to bring your mama's dinner tonight. She is working hard selling that old ass to truck drivers by the freeway so she can pay your sex change surgery.

  • This sounds like a great Wedding Band !

  • lol,

still, your opinion sucks. The resemblance is uncanny.

  • They should get all the credit

They have more talent than Satriani and Cockplay put together

  • que verguenza

  • apestan

  • felipe staiti rocks

  • why doesn't everyone just shut up and comment about the video. this is youtube, not a debating society.

  • Youtube IS a debating society, or it wouldn't be a comment box here

  • Because ESP out sells an American Guitar market somehow Japan is on the cutting edge of technology? What kind of dumb comment is this?

Yes, Japan is in the inside track of technology but mentioning ESP sales is retarded.

Ed Roman can build a guitar better than any ESP model but what teenager can afford it?

You should mention Japan's work with components used in the United State's Fighter Jets instead of some dumb Guitar.

  • ENANITOS VERDES -AMORES LEJANOS (FRANCES LIMON)-2002

JOE SATRIANI- Is There Love in Space?(IF I COULD FLY)-2004

    COLDPLAY(VIVA LA VIDA)-2008

    IT'S TOO OBIOUS ¬¬

    TAN OBIO ¬¬

    ENANITOS VERDES ROCKS!!!!!!!!!!

  • Okay guys lets be mature about this. Either we can say that great minds think alike or that Coldplay should get sued to hell for plagiarizing a song that was plagiarized.

  • On the grounds of all the three artists music being similar, I personally vote for Satriani's If I could Fly, being the best and most musically complex piece of art compared to the other two. For me 'If I could Fly' with my eyes closed take me to a subconscious land of memories. I prefer music more than songs any day.

  • If Enanitos Verdes or whoever he is thought that Satriani copied his rhythm and melody, he(Verdes) could have sued Joe four years ago over plagiarism. Why did all the hue and cry begin when Joe filed a law suit against Coldplay?

  • Are people actually serious. I'm sorry, but you can't copyright 3 notes, because that's the only similarity between these two songs. The rhthm is different, the tempo is different, the chord progression is completely different, and the melody is different except for those first three notes...

  • The guitarist is a big fan of Steve Vai and Joe Satriani. So, I'm sure that he'd be happy to here him or the song compared to one of Satirani's songs. No biggie. Leave the technicalities out and just enjoy the music as it is.

  • AGUANTE LOS ENANITOS ARGENTINOS!!

  • the cord progression is not the same, the melody is not the same, its not a copy

  • Coldplay's Chris Martin has admitted their 2000 hit single 'Shiver' had been a Buckley rip-off.

  • Seems like Satriani copied the great Enanitos Verdes. Thumbs up if you want Enanitos Verdes to sue Satriani!

  • satriani satriani! poor satriani!!! n yet u said cold play copied part of theirs, HUH!! shame . . . !

  • This person in the video has to realize that being an artist means creating your own music, not replicating somebody elses .. *cough* satriani *cough*
