One question though. When you pour your charcoal into your grill (after it's ready) isn't there a chance of your burnt newspaper ash getting there in your grill and possibly into your food as well?
I just switched to a cheap big bag of wood pellets to start the chimney. Only need a quarter cup=5 sheets of paper. It seems best to dump the coals when it's half way lit up the chimney to mix up the hot/cold coals.

I would think paper towels would burn much too fast. News Paper burns a bit more slowly.
