"best luxury car in its class" What, it vs Fairlane? Kinda ironic how the GM marketers put it really, the reality is that an E-Class Benz would just walk all over this car in everything but size.
It includes: a rear view mirror that magnifies the image of those behind you; a driver's steering column that collapses under pressure; and a fully automatic choke. It starts perfectly every time.......and then just...stops.
I agree the Statesmans and Caprices from 1995 to 1998 were the best looking and sounding of them all. The new ones as they are very refined and fast but I seem to think they lack the character of the VR to VS III Statesmans. And the unmissable sound of the 5 litre V8 is intoxicating, the more powerfull Gen 4 will never be as sweet as the old V8.
Yeah the Statesman/Caprice are a beautiful car. The brand new ones on the market at the moment don't have the same roar as the old ones used to. My step dad has a '98 Caprice series III which is V8. It still runs beatifully and sounds great.
I actually looked at getting one but they can be pretty expensive, particularly the ones in decent condition, and insurance is a killer.
They also rule at burnouts. There's been some rippers done in the Caprice.

What about the Greg Norman Holden Surrender?

I recall he went further than simply advertising Holdens - he hosted a documentary, "Greg Norman's 50 Years Of Holden 1948-1998"...

Awesome, that was actually gonna be my first car.
It was in burgandy and had done 210.000k on the clock.
It was country Ks so it wasnt that bad.
My mate took it for a test drive and it was smooth as hell, big but still managable.
The only reason i didnt get it was it was $2,500 over my price range, so instead i got my one.
Im happy with it and am kind of glad as the insurance for a statesman was also $500-$750 more then my current car a year.
