  • I'm gonna buy this card but would it work fine with this CPU Q9550 and not getting bottleneck?

  • I just got this new graphics card EVGA GTX550 ti to upgrade from my (very) old 9400.

I notice a degradation of images and videos... not that much but enough to frustrate as it makes pics and videos I have seen dozens of times previously with no problem to now have pixelation and is "grainy". Especially to note the faded blotches appearing in darker areas of videos.

I do remember it did it last time I upgraded cards too. I just forgot how I fixed it years ago... any help?

  • @realinterfacestudios

    SPECS:

    - Windows 7 64 bit professional

    - 8GB RAM

    - Intel Core i5

    - Nvidia EVGA GTX550 ti side by side with GeForce 9400 (old)

  • @realinterfacestudios Solutions tried so far:

    1) Current drivers (clean install).

    2) All codecs (CCCP/K-lite/win7codecs etc.).

    3) I tried running it without tandem with old (9400) card.

    4) I tried restoring (and removing GTX) with only old card, and same problem exist now.

As a graphics designer, this slight pixelation/grainy-ness is painful to work with. I'm wishing I didn't bother upgrading since it just deteriorated the quality.

  • I really like this card but i dont know if i can install it. Is there something other than this card that i need? Or can i just remove the card i have on and put this one on?

    Any help would be appreciated

  • would the graphics on this card and a mid level pc be better than a ps3 for game performance?

  • @limedesign2 a hell of alot better

  • can i install gtx 550-ti on win7 (32bit), AMD Anthlon(tm) 7850 Dual-Core Processor 2.80 Ghz, 2GB (RAM)

  • The power port is front of the card. You need to have one six pin pcie connector. If you don't have the power on your psu use the one provided pay both connectors into the adapter, if you don't have that plug in your gpu will not get power

  • Where do I plug the power connecters? Do I need something for them because I can't find anywhere to plug them in.

  • I bought my card today, It fits inside my PC easy.

But i have no open power supply cables.

    What do!

  • @DJToastee lol you need a new psu

  • @dragonkknight Power supply unit right?

  • @DJToastee Right... and if you plan on getting this card, go for at least a 500 watt psu.

  • @LowQualitySkyrim Doesn't matter, I've got a 450 watt PSU and my card is now running perfect, its been on for a long time, so I'm sure 450 is fine...

  • @DJToastee Then that's cool then, I was thinking this card needed a little more power than that. I may get this card then for now. Probably still going to drop a 500+ watt power supply in my rig though for extra power because I want to eventually get an even better card when I have the money.

  • mine has a power supply do i NEED to connect it

  • In my local shop this card is 200 euro , On the internet 130 euro :) Im happy to have internet

  • mattsaundersmcp@

i am not running high resolutions.

my moniter is at a resolution of 1360 by 768

  • @danvar249 You should be fine with the 550 ti then mate :)

  • i am thinking of upgrading my system with the gtx 550 ti and i want to know how good is this card and if it will work withe windows 7 ultimate 32 bit ,intel core i3 cpu 3.07ghz and 3gb of ram?

  • @danvar249 The card should work fine but if you can afford a little more get the 560 as the 550 ti struggles a little at higher resolutions. Hope this helps :)

  • umm the power connector thing do u have to plug them both or only one ?

  • well the name of video should have pny init its on the video card ;)

  • Why you put this gpu on that CRAP???

  • Comment removed

  • Would this graphics card work with:

Zoostorm Intel core (TM) i5-2310 CPU @ 2.9ghz quad core

    6GB Ram

    64bit operating system

    GPU: Intel HD Family graphics

  • @ImFeeZah Does ur motherboard have a PCI-e x16 slot? and Does ur power supply have a 6-pin connector?

  • @ThDComputer He got a MoBo with an i5! So what u think? Of course he got a PCIe....

  • anyone know if this video card works for a DELL Dimension E521? is there a very specific installation video on that same computer?

  • Btw i love your videos :)

  • Also it beeps once when it is installed, I cant find where it says in my motherboard manual what that means, I did see it before but i don't remember.

  • I just bought parts for a new computer, I've already installed them yesterday and today i got my GTX 550 TI and I have installed it, I get no image from either the 550 or the integrated graphics card even though it was working yesterday. I have a 500W power supply. I am not suer what to do any ideas?

  • @MasterProBeats Did you plug in the power cable that goes in the end of the card. You then need to plug in a cable from your PSU to power the card

  • @mattsaundersmcp Yes i did, I've tryed to re install it, but i get no signal, then when I uninstall it, It starts up and says there was a hardware fault.

  • @Bahena2 yes nonproblem there

  • I really have to laugh at this, because not only am I also replacing a GT9400, but I'm replacing it with this exact card. Great minds, mate. =)

  • @zeyepawdz :)

  • o.o um.. Where do you plug in the monitor...

  • @Epicwildfox In the back of the card into either the DVI or HDMI ports

  • this card is nice, connected it with my pc-monitor with the dvi slot. But if I also want to connect my hdtv with the hdmi slot to the mini-hdmi slot on the back of the videocard it doesnt work: my pc doesnt recognise my tv and my tv doesnt recognise my pc, how do I fix this /

  • if i run this card with 450w power supply , do u think it will go fine? thanks.

  • @BDATutorials Yeah you should due fine the minimum is a 400W PSU

  • Just got it today for christmas :) how do i install the supplementary power connectors? PLEASE RESPOND :D

  • @RileyKiLLaH All you have to do is connect the additional power connector into the end of the card

  • @mattsaundersmcp got it all hooked up, and guess what? It runs worse than my 9800 GT. idk i did EVERYTHING right.

  • @RileyKiLLaH Did you install the latest drivers from nVidia?

  • @mattsaundersmcp Well, i installed the ones that come on the disk but they say its the same drivers, i'll have to test it out. Does any other of my hardware have to do with it? 2gb of ram amd quadcore 9600x, 400w power supply, and i dont know what my motherboard is but its pciex16

  • @RileyKiLLaH You should always download the drivers from the website mate :)

  • @RileyKiLLaH, lol dude its your power supply, the minimum power supply for the gtx 550 ti is 400 and your running it with that, plus with the mouse, keyboard, etc. your comp is going to have to slow down to run all of that with that little power, get a 650w power supply and it should be fine.

  • @RileyKiLLaH i just ordered myn are you happy with yours from the few hours you have had it at all?

  • Thank you so much for the installation video. Really helped me figure out what I really needed to do. First Graphics Card I've ever installed. Thanks man.

  • @MrZenGFX Your welcome :)

  • does this card come with an instruction manual on how to put it in?

  • @moobutoo777 Not that I can remember

  • Amazing cable management. :P

  • @aidenscool09 :D lol

  • @mattsaundersmcp

i plugged mine in and everything and I have a black screen? I plugged my monitor into the graphics card too.

You know how the card comes with

those power cables that have those two white things that have 3 pins out? Well do both of those have to be plugged in or just one? because my computer only has a cable for one?

    thanks for any help.

  • @TheMatrydon It needs both in, otherwise you can't power it.

  • Does the case need to have a lot of air coming through it or is it not prone to overheating? I really need to know because I might get this card on December and I didn't build the PC that I currently own therefore it might be a bit of a pain to buy a new case.

  • @Krycho9PowrotReturn I had it in the case in this video and it was ok. Since this video I moved my PC into a gaming case which has more room

  • @mattsaundersmcp What about your PSU? Will a 300W one be able to power this card?

  • @Krycho9PowrotReturn No you will probably need a 400W PSU minimum

  • Do you think a 400 Watt psu would be enough for this card?

  • @thegretestman Yeah it should be able to power the GTX 550 ti

  • @mattsaundersmcp ok thanks and another thing i dont see a 6 pin power connector on my psu does this come with a cable or do i need a new psu?

  • @mattsaundersmcp What about the anti static wrist band? I'm quite new to this PC building stuff and I would like to know how can I safely install a GPU without an anti static wrist band?

  • @Krycho9PowrotReturn All I do is touch the metal case to release any static charge

  • @mattsaundersmcp Do you have to keep holding it until the process is finished? Or just hold it for a few seconds? Can you do it without the band on a rug?

  • @Krycho9PowrotReturn Just hold it for a few seconds

  • @Krycho9PowrotReturn

as long as you don't overclock, having 1 small 80mm fan as a rear exhaust (like most prebuilt computers do) should be just fine. But if your seriously considering upgrading or building a computer I strongly recommend researching every last detail before making a purchase. there are plenty of sites that can help you if you simply search your question in google

  • @Geitir Hehe, I just want to upgrade the card this year and my CPU to Intel i5 on my birthday :D (20th May) I bought this pre-built PC in July so I should be fine :)

  • @thegretestman yes look on the site from nvidia and search for the geforce gtx 550ti and there stands that you need a 400 watt psu fur this card :)

  • @IDeadlyIHD Not sure as I do not have MW2

  • I was planning on getting Skyrim however I dont have a good enough graphics card. So I was planning on getting the nVidia Geforce GTX 550 Ti. Will the card be good for this card.

    Computer Specs:

    Windows 7 (64 bit) Processor: Pentium(R) Dual-Core CPU E5400 @ 2.70GHz 2.70 GHz 4GB System RAM

  • @ayoowak I am playing Skyrim with the GTX 550 Ti and it works great. When I installed the game it checks graphics performance and it automatically set it to high :)

  • @mattsaundersmcp Thanks for quick response! I love you man! No homo :) Definitely gonna sub!! However I have never installed a Graphics Card into my tower before, have any tips or do nots? Also what are your computer specs?

  • @ayoowak Thanks for subscribing :) the main tip I can give you is when your inserting the card into the motherboard dont force it, it should just slot in. Also make sure you earth yourself so you do damage any other components in the case.

    My specs

    AMD Phenon 8750 2.40GHz

    7gig of ram

    GTX 550 TI grpahics

    2 x 500 gig HDD

I just recently purchased the quad core i7 mac mini which will be delivered on Monday :)

Good luck with the card installation

  • @mattsaundersmcp Damn your computer sounds like a monster!! I dont know if my computer will handle it lol its a Dell Inspiron 570 :/ its not much of a "gaming computer" the specs for skyrim say you need "6GB free HDD Space" I have no idea if i have such LOL. and thank you, I really hope I dont damage my computer because there isnt any how to's on youtube which are Dell Inspiron 570's. Also thanks for the tips :)

  • @mattsaundersmcp Also do you think GeForce GTX 560 Ti is better? lol

  • @ayoowak Yes if you can afford a GTX 560 get that over the GTX 550 as you will be better FPS when playing games liek BattleField 3 :)

  • @mattsaundersmcp Aww awesome :) Can you point me into the right direction to the specific one as there are loads of them? Sorry to keep asking you question im kinda new at this :D

  • @mattsaundersmcp Will the GTX 560 work in my ordinary Dell Inspiron 570? Or will I need a high end gaming computer? Also how will I know if it will fit?

  • @ayoowak Well the graphics card uses the PCI-E slot so if you have on of these then you should be fine. The GTX 560 is a powerful graphics card and needs extra power from the PSU so if you have a low powered PSU you may need to upgrade it.

I would check the dimensons of the card and then open your case and check to see if it will fit. The card only just fitted into my old case. Since then I received a gaming case for review which fits with plenty of space now. Watch this /watch?v=OfuY-vryPmk

  • @mattsaundersmcp Thank you, sorry for being a pain but erm how exactly do I know what my "PSU" is? lol

  • @ayoowak You will have to take the side panel off and look at the stickers on the PSU. The stock PSU that came with my PC was 300 watt but I upgraded it to a 700 watt PSU. You may or may not need to upgrade the PSU it all depends on what you have :)

  • @mattsaundersmcp damnn the problem is i have never taken the panel off before lol and im using the computer right now and i infact have a Inspiron 560 lool but i will try thanks :)

  • @mattsaundersmcp Ok all i saw was 300W max power was that my PSU and is that good enough?

  • @ayoowak The best thing is to check how much power the graphics card requires

  • @mattsaundersmcp Ah just did, it seems to be 500W minimum :( well I guess i have to find a 300W one and i have no idea where to start lol

  • @ayoowak You will probably have to upgrade your PSU to 500w as all the grpahics cards will require 500w

  • @mattsaundersmcp Aw man can you point me into the direction of a good buy for your buck. Also is it simple to install a PSU?

  • @ayoowak All I did was go to PC world and purchase a 700w PSU. To install a PSU all you have to do it screw it in with 4 screws then connect the power cables to your motherboard, Hard disks, CDrom etc

  • @mattsaundersmcp Man you've been a great help today. Thank you so so much :) i'll try not to bug you anymore ;D

  • @ayoowak Its fine happy to help :) If you need any help let me know

  • @mattsaundersmcp :) and will do, all i have to do know is search for a good 500W PSU and a decent Graphics card :D

  • @ayoowak Pretty much any brand of GTX 560 graphics card will be fine. I think my GTX 550 is PNY

  • @mattsaundersmcp Last question for today :)...With PSUs can i be less picky or is there a better brand. Because i hear stories about some PSU fans being really loud or them just being really bad lol

  • @ayoowak Im not sure about PSU's to be honest I just picked up an OCZ 700w psu which has been great for me

  • @mattsaundersmcp Ah ok someone told me recently about "12v rails" do you know anything about that?

  • @ayoowak No Sorry

  • @mattsaundersmcp Ah ok :) and I think i saw the OCZ you have (OCZ ZX Series ATX PSU) but its 750W for £74.99 however i saw a CORSAIR Professional HX850W Power Supply Unit for £79.97. What do you think is better for my Dell Inspiron 560?

  • @ayoowak I think either will be fine but ask in the shop before you buy it as I do not know that much about PSU's :)

  • @mattsaundersmcp Ah thanks bro :) You have been wonderful and very patient will my inexperience :D

  • @ayoowak No Problem happy to help :)

  • @mattsaundersmcp Thanks :D btw since im practically only getting a new PSU for a graphics card can I just get a 500W PSU? Cause after researching they're saying people who get such PSUs like 700W are for real high end gaming computer not ordinary ones like mine. Its really intimidating LOL

  • @ayoowak If the graphics card states it only needs a 500w PSU then you may as well only get the 500w one instead of the 700w :)

  • @mattsaundersmcp Thanks man :)

  • You sound just like Simon from Yogscast :D

  • @R3sisted haha I love the Yogscast :)

  • What is your PSU on? Mine is 350W and I am thinking about buying this

  • hey man, i got a question.. with the 550 ti, can i play with high graphics, record the screen with fraps, and still get some nice FPS ingame?

  • What fps do you get on BF3 with fraps running? Thanks

  • could i use this on bf3?

  • @HaHaDeadMonkeys Yes I have used it to play Battle Field 3 :)

  • Why does it shake?

  • What is dual slot? Can i install it on my pc with one PCI express x16??

  • Good choice. Motherboardsorg recommended this as the card with the best price to performance ratio. Also, it's nVidia <3 (I love nVidia, all my shiz is from them, my phone, my GPU, my Mobo(Manifactured by asus but designed by nVidia xD (I use an AMD processor))

  • Nice card Matt, I have the GTS 450 and it's more powerful than I imagined for such a cheap card!

  • @MyRandomReviews Yeah it blow me away when I played crysis 2. Like you say for £100 its really good

  • Yay! U got the card! Best of luck with it Matt =) Better gaming experience with that thing in your rig.

  • @SJCWebDesignLLC Thanks Larry the new card is awesome I can finally play better games on my PC :)

  • Epic cable management.

  • @AdzProductions lol

  • I WANT ONE! lol
