this guy was my chinese teacher when i was at school. Once he got a student to hold a book up, with like 5 other student supporting the dude with the book, and peterson did a 1-inch punch on the book and all the student flew back and fell over haha.
Zebedysau let me tell you, the ? 3rd time when i met him, i said " i am going to hit you hard ", i did so and I flew again, again , again and last but not least again!!! now i find out he is the one who has dedicated himself to master, preserve and promote the Wing Chun of Wong shun leung.
Chi Sao isn't just to get used to fighting in close.. Actually CS teaches you everything about fighting.. The rolling movement you do is done in a circular shape is to defend against all possible attacks.. That is done through the four types of rolling hands in CS.. Add the forward force towards the opponent's center to make sure that at the instant he breaks arm contact or opens up your fist or palm lands in his face.. There are also other benefits for doing Chi Sao..
Bruce didnt favour western boxing. He was boxing in high school before he done Wing Chun. There wouldnt be any Wing Chun in JKD if it was useless. Go watch Paul Vunaks videos before you start commenting on stuff you know nothing about.
Bruce Lee never ever ever favor Boxing over Wing Chun!!.. Bruce searched for the essence of every art he encountered through research and application to understand it and get the most out of it whether to use it himself or just to know its weakness.. He did that with every art not just Boxing..
It's true, he is a nice bloke.... he lets his students win against him so they learn to win an encounter. He doesn't appear to need to win all the time.... quite an original, especially in WC which is full of arrogant gooses.
David's a top bloke, quite laid back, but get's the job done. Good to see a wing chun sifu with a good attitude, a really nice bloke. as you can tell, nothing but good things to say about this bloke.
This is a really nice clip, im WSL lineage and its amazing how very similar all WSL lineage styles are. So effective. If im ever in Melbourne I know where to go for a lesson!
I own a 2nd dan black belt in a certain " do ", have done other martial arts and have kicked lots of arses, When i first met him, he talked with his hands and shut me down totally ( properly not on his top gear )within 10-15 secs , Damn!!!!!!!! but respect!!!

If I'm not mistaken, Bruce Lee never learned wing chun beyond siu nim tau.
MaBu888 3 years ago
That's uncorrect. Bruce Lee studied Siu Lim Tao + Cham Kiu in Honk Kong. Afterwards he moved to the U. S.
But beside only the forms, he obviously gained a lot of practical experience. Cheers jp

lwlwbwbw 4 years ago
Chi sao isn't about fighting you dickhead, it's a tool to develop sensitivity!! think!!! research and thing befoer typing
jackbower1986 3 years ago 15
to gain the right "arm feeling" inculding contact, reflexes, ellbow movement etc..
KaynaTax 3 years ago
Chi sao is to get a feel of fighting up close to a person if you start swinging your arms out wide when you fight then your only going to get hurt
