The only reason I think King Morpheus didnt kill the Nightmare King, was he cant be truly killed, since its all a dream and besides, how can you kill a dream figure like the Nightmare King, people are going to always have nightmares, thats his fuel what keeps him alive. So King Morpheus trapped the Nightmare King, under his castle, so he can be contained.
