There's an entire logging sub-industry (so to speak) grown up around retrieving sunken tonewood logs and hardwood logs from anaerobic environments. I have some 25k year-old samples, next to the fossil megalodon teeth, on a bookshelf.
I know the guy who builds these guitars as he lives around the corner from me, in Auckland, New Zealand. He let me play one of his Langcasters and I can tell you it's a great guitar!
@TIMOTHYSAARINEN There's one on Ebay right now going for $2200 or $2900 or something like that. No bids on it yet but it's up in an hour. Maybe it'll get relisted. I know I couldn't afford it.
Akkerman is such a master and my gawd that guitar! Fantastic and IMHO guitars get no better than this. Anyone else offering wood like this, pickups like this? NO. Only Langcaster. Truly historical guitars. Made in New Zealand, I am in Oregon---wish the shop was next door to me.
been stumbling around (on-line) for months now, looking to buy a custom guitar, but, something a wee bit different, y`know, you`re (or I am at least) only gonna make a purchase like this once in a lifetime, just stumbled on this by pure accident and man, I`m amazed.
Tell me about it. I own both a Langcaster guitar AND one of only about a dozen basses! Check out the website. But I think the wood is almost all gone and only a few more Langcaster with it will be made this year and then thats it. All gone, no more. World's rarest workable wood in my guitars and I love just holding them. Worth MORE than every penny. Lemme know if you get one. Best regards.
Always directly recognizable, in style and sound, no matter on what guitar he plays.

Ahhhh, classic Akkerman, this. The lick at 0:24 is just JUICY. I'm so digging that smooth, thick, distorted sound of his.

Whoops. Slightly distorted, I meant to say.
