You won't get larger tomatoes. And all this jazz about growing yellow tomatoes, cukes n shit... that can be done in the earth as well. Get a 5-gal bucket and some twine if you want to try this. Cost you $3 max.
Don't bother with the $10 Version in stores . Someone got me one as a present but it's just a plastic bag with some wires to hang. It looks NOTHING like the commercial and doesn't come with any seeds. The instructions suggest buying a plank of wood to hang it from so I guess we can't use the stand seen in the commercial even if we can find one for sale.
We're going out tomorrow to see if we can find some seedlings to put in the thing. I'll at least try to grow some flowers ...
Don't be too disappointed! The $10 Topsy Turvy works great! Best to buy a single tomato plant that looks healthy and use organic soil. We hung ours on a high branch of our Japanese Maple tree, the only side that gets great sun. Never lets us down. Enjoy the season!
@MobianHero The idea behind it actually works :D It's best to make your own but they do get heavy. I've seen the DIY version on television. I love the idea behind this because I can grow tomatoes and not worry about my little dog eating the plant. Plus because it's hung up I think it will help keep animals like squirrels away from it as well.
The plant grew to 8 feet long....had to prop broom stix in the air to keep them growing! First time using the Topsy-Turvey and can't wait until next year to do more because this year was better than we could have expected.
My Grand ma is almost 86 and her tomatoes look better than that and there not as hard as you think to grow
