  • That's pretty nifty that your Bday and Craig's Bday is the same day.

  • Sci Fi, because I love science and the superiorness (that's a word now) of the science in sci fi, but fantasy comes iin clos as I also like history and more primitive weaponry such as the longbow. However if there was a sci fi fantasy, with say a longow except scientificly superiornessified (I made up a word and I verbed it); that film would be epic.

  • fantasy

  • spike from cowboy beepbop

  • scifi I love star trek

  • fantasy.

  • I was wondering if you watched the Guild because some of PoPS reminds me of it, and now I know the answer :)

I understand what you are saying about Location. Out of curiosity, what other things do you think made the first episode not as amazing as all of the episodes that followed?

  • It's a tough choice but I'd have to go with fantasy if only because you can include science fiction elemens in a fantasy movie and it's a still a fantasy but you can't include fantasy elements in a science fiction movie and still have it be science fiction.

  • i'd have to say scifi like fringe and warehouse 13 etc.

  • really hard to choose-theyre my 2 fav genres! ...i mite b leaning more towards fantasy tho (i consider star wars more fantasy than sci-fi because of the force)

  • sci fi

  • sci fi.

    back to the future?

    i think yes.

  • Toronto is fabulous. Avoid the homeless - if you're from a big city, that shouldn't be a problem. Other than that, have fun! Go to the CN tower or the Art Gallery of Ontario (AGO). I would recommend stopping by The Black Market, it's a new/vintage clothing shop, but they have all kinds of neat things there. Have fun on your honeymoon!

  • I think its more a matter of story than of genre. When you have a 'SyFy' movie, you have the limitless possibilities of many different locations as well as different races to interact with. But you run the risk of becoming unbelievable. On the other foot you have Fantasy. Your characters are capable of much more (superman, spider man, and Xmen to name a few). But you also run the risk of making the 'heros' unbelievable as well. I enjoy a good story, but you can't beat a good ride through space!!

  • go to casa loma for sure while you're in toronto

  • Of course, the problem with open locations is that you need release forms for every. single. person who walks into the frame. Gurrr. But yeah, if you can do it, it helps.

  • I've kinda grown from fantasy to sci-fi. I don't really know why...

  • both why not. knights and shiny armor. I want to see a dungeon and dragons movie. and for science fiction transformers all the way

  • Sci-Fi all the way!

  • Sci-Fi

    Staregate universe

  • I guess I'd prefer Sci-Fi.

  • Re: Toronto. The Steamwhistle brewery, which is right near the CN Tower (a site others have no doubt urged you to visit) is located in an old steam locomotive round house. The building has a cool history, including being taken apart brick by brick and then put back together on the same site in order to allow the nearby convention centre to put like a gijillion levels of parking UNDERNEATH IT. There's also free beer on the tour. Worth the visit.

  • SOOO HARD! mmm..... Fantasy. Sci Fi is awesome but there is nothing quite like a good old fashioned dragon, wizard battle, war scene, or swordfight.

  • Sci-fi cuz I LOVE THE MATRIX!!!!!!!!!!!!!! XD

  • Sci-Fi because it's interesting how people justify everything. Fantasy is still pretty amazing though!

  • Fantasy

  • This is great advice! I like these little film tips.

  • That's tough one, I like them both. Maybe little more sci-fi.

  • Well if it's looking at what I own... It's Sci-fi.

  • Fantasy, I love the idea of being able to do something that we as humans are not physically capable of doing. For example, i think about having superhuman powers like: Teleportation, Flying, the ability to water-bend(avatar the last airbender). There is something about having something that you are not allowed(capable) to have that makes it all the more fun.

  • I'll have to say Sci-Fi but it is really really close.

Also, you made the guild? :O

  • @Aeqelable

what? no. i was using it as an example.

  • @pineappleboyfilms It would be awesome if you did though! lol

  • Fantasy all the way, sci-fi tries too hard to make sense

  • SCIFI

  • SCI FI!!!

  • @LetWillBeWill

well, i'm certainly not an expert. but it may be that "field rendering" is switched on. i'm not sure where that would be located, but i had that problem when i was using Motion for something before i turned field rendering off. also, are you exporting it through the render queue? 'cause that's what you're supposed to do. i had no idea until my friend ryan told me and it helped so much. under the composition tab it says "add to render queue". then render it out. not sure.

  • fantasy

  • I like both!

Fantasy cause i always get lost in my own head and sometimes which that certain elf's and gnomes were real... xD

and sci-fi cause the technology PWN's the world and its awesome xD

  • Early October babies are the result of drunken New Years Eve sex.

  • It's strange, when i'm reading I very much prefer fantasy books like Terry Pratchett and Nell Gamen, but when it comes to watching things I prefer the si-fi.

  • Fantasy for me any day

  • sci-fi endless possibilities

  • sci-fi

mostly because of your examples tho

    both are good

  • FANTASY!

  • Happy birthday =)

  • I was kinda syked to see Wheezy's birthday was the same as mine. This being said, I'm more pro-fantasy.

  • Happy Birthday!! :D

  • I know what's up with early October Birthdays... HAPPY NEW YEAR!

  • Fantasy.

Glossy CGI suits Fantasy better than Sci-fi

10+ years ago, it would have been sci-fi; I miss the model work of Alien/s, Blade Runner and their contemporaries, and their CGI versions still pale in comparison today to the crunchy feel of the Nostromo...

  • I can't choose!

Meh, I'll just go with pizza, that always works.

  • Hrrrrrr it's so hard to decide XD

I think I'm gonna have to sit on the fence for this one. I've always prefered fantasy settings but most fantasy movies are quite generic when compared to sci-fi movies

  • Happy Birthday to BRILLIANT FRIGGIN DIRECTOR!!!

  • Happy Birthday Jake and Craig! Two of the awesomest people aliveeee!! <3

    Fantasy Movies for sureeeee.

  • happy birthday

    sci fi

  • happy birthday

  • UNFAIR DECISION

  • happy birthday!! <3

  • Hrm....Im thinking sci-fi. Although a lot of stuff that you said is included in fantasy i think kind of stretches over both genres. But typically im gonna have to say sci-fi. Just cuz im a nerdy face like that.

  • HAPPY BIRTHDAY JAKE! xD

Fantasy... hands down. Sci-fi is too... real-future sorta. Depends if you'd say X-Men is sci-fi though. I like things that are totally impossible but that you could put yourself into the scene. (e.g. Humans with wings)

  • Sci Fi

  • SCI-FI all the way!

Happy birthday to you and Craig!

  • Sci-Fi for the win. :) I feel like the characters are more based in reality because the setting is. (Although HP does an awesome job at fixing that up by having the setting in our world, just out of our knowledge.) And, y'know. Rayguns and stuff. :D

  • Sci-fi

  • Definitely fantasy. Idk why lol, but it just seemed like a solid fact in my mind. Like, "Oh duh, of course it's fantasy, there's no reason in the entire world why it would be sci-fi." Even though i do like sci-fi too.

  • sci fi. hands down.

  • HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

  • sci-fi all the way

  • SCi-FI!!!

and hey! it's 5th of october! HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!

  • The majority of a good movie called "Penny Dreadful" takes place in the same car. Very creepy movie.

I honestly can't choose between Sci-Fi or Fantasy. It depends on how well it's made. Twilight Zone (the old show) for instance is incredibly great, and so is Lord of the Rings. DON'T MAKE ME PICK!!!

  • Happy (early) Birthday, Jake! This is really weird, and there definite exceptions, but I think fantasy fares better in books and sci-fi fares better in films. Most of the big fantasy films are adaptations, so that may be part of it (it's hard to top the source material), but I think it's also that magic is so abstract that it's hard to represent visually - technology not so much. Even though I personally prefer fantasy as a genre, I think I'd answer your question about *movies* with sci-fi.

  • Whoop whoop. I'm in Toronto. If you haven't been here before, let me assure you you'll love it. If you have (and maybe even mentioned that you have in the video) then it's good to have you back. (and sorry I didn't listen. Had to wish Craig a happy birthday. Wasn't paying attention. Priorities.)

  • Happy birthday Jarvi!! I'd have to say that Sci Fi movies are more watchable over and over, but it seems like Fantasy has created more classics. Sure, I've watched every Star Trek movie 7 times, but I spend more time talking about The Princess Bride and Harry and Legend.

  • SciFi, for the most part.

Don't get me wrong, there are lots of really amazing fantasy settings and ideas, but more often than not they get pushed aside for the cliche settings. You know, dragons or Tolkien ripoffs or medieval fantasy and magic, it just gets really old to me. You get plenty of the same thing in scifi, yeah, but it seems like a wide spread of settings and ideas are more popular, rather than just two or three big ideas.

    Happy early birthday! Nice Spike.

  • rotfllol as if you're going to toronto...have fun man, hope you have lots of money to enjoy yourself =/

  • fantasy 'cause final fantasy :D

happy early birthday, I got a tennis tournament on your birthday, weird:P

and as for places to see in Toronto I suggest the monkey vault if you wanna see some crazy flipy parkour action

  • Fantasy! Go Harry Potter! :) But I do love Doctor Who.... yeah fantasy is still better.

  • Ooooooooooooooooh, that's tough. I think I gravitate towards sci-fi a teensy bit more. I'm apprehensive about fantasy movies that aren't from well-respected books I've read. Sci-fi is guaranteed interesting and fast-paced. Better chance of entertainment. Fantasy runs a greater risk, IMO, of falling flat, being overdone, or getting cheesy. Sci-fi can pull of cheesy, lol.

  • Happy Birthday in a few hours! I can't wait for the new PoPS!!!!!!!! keep up the good work! :D

  • Fantasy.

  • First off, Happy Birthday tomorrow.

Second off, Fantasy (though only narrowly). It's had a lot of trouble lately with some poorly made stuff bringing it down, but then you have some great pillars holding it up like Merlin on BBC or the almost-don't-need-to-say-it Lord of the Rings trilogy. Not to mention Star Wars is essentially a fantasy epic dressed up as a Sci-Fi movie (making it about half of each in my book.)

  • I think I like stuff all over either genre's spectrum, but I really like it when someone finds a way to mix Sci-Fi and Fantasy in a good way. Not just like magic v. technology or there are some races that have magic and some that don't, but Technomages and stuff like that. Tech that runs on some well of magical energy.

  • sci-fi

but they need to either get the science to work or avoid the topic, bad science can be so cringe-worthy

  • look for cosmos

  • fantasy. it's a completely different world. it's more mystical than scientific, sci-fi seems too explained for me.

  • Fantasy.

  • both

  • Fantasy.

  • Sci fi, although I like them both.

  • I would say fantasy no question if it were books, but I feel like I've seen more sci-fy movies. But, it was my first genre I loved, so fantasy.

  • how many more updates before we get the new ep???

  • sci-fi. Serenity was amazing

  • JAKE! I'm not from Toronto... I live about an hour away. However, I'm constantly there for industry stuff I attend! If you're coming, do the obvious, which is the CN Tower. However, there's a lot of places most people don't think of. Check out 'Chinatown', Queen St is a great art area, and TheRoyal Ontario Museum. Also, if you're in town before the 16th come to Waterloo (where I live) for Oktoberfest. It's the biggest Oktoberfest in the entire world, outside Germany. Just a few suggestions =D

  • FANTASI

  • FANTASY

  • @pineappleboyfilms

dude, if you're coming to toronto, and doing the scott pilgrim tour, you should definitely visit Casa Loma.

Also check out the Silver Snail. Because i know you're a nerd.

  • @irosette

if you arrange it with them ahead of time then yes they do. and thanks!

  • @MrPineapplepirate

right now i think it's brown. kind of a lame choice, but i look at my wardrobe and think...huh, brown.

  • This is a Sci Fi show and your asking which is better Sci Fi or Fantasy.... I wonder who will win...

  • both!

  • Sci-fi movies. Fantasy books.

  • this is hard i mean i love hary potter but i also love supper hero movies.......i guess i would go with sci fi =3

  • HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO BOTH YOU AND CRAIG. and charlie but thats late haha

  • Fantasy, its more akin to my personal imagination.

  • a lot of my favorites come from fantasy but I generally like most sci fi movies.

  • Sci Fi

  • That's hard to decide.... I think fantasie, because in scie fie they include some nonsens (like in matrix: you die, when you die in the matrix -.-) and as computer freak that's something I absolutely don't like...

  • @NoName736

why would you not die when you die in the matrix? that action is plugged into your cortex, man. dying in the matrix is brain death.

  • But when your brain get just the information that you are death you won't die. It had been plausible if someone dies in real life from the shock or because he maschines can't let someone alife who knows, that you can't get death in a physical way.

And they justify it otherwise (orpheus said in the first part that you can't life without soul or at least he said that in the german version...) and Nero was bleeding after he fall on the virtual Ground.

  • oh and I almost forgot in my answer: Happy Birthday :D

  • Sci-Fi. *nods fervently*

  • Sci Fi > Fantasy

  • sci-fi v. fantast.

    sci-fi wins 20 out of 10 times

  • I'm from around toronto. . . there is pretty much nothing exciting there. CN Tower obviously, but mehh. I would vacation in algonquin park or something. Nature is more fascinating than downtown toronto.

  • sci-fi blows fantasy away every time

  • @beagleboy192

unless fantasy can get it's shield spell up in time.

  • Oh, scifi vs. fantasy. That's a tough one, but I'm going to have to go with fantasy.

  • Depends on how they are made, I love sci-Fi movies with lots off special effects BUT they must be believable and not a bunch of crap. On the other hand the story in fantasy movies is mostly better than the sci-fi story because its more developtedtet(i dont know how its spelled). Sci-fi is just an excuse for some action an special effects, like a way to showoff your PC capability either way in fantasy are also special effects but mostly softer...Short version: i like both but i enjoy fantasy more

  • sci-fi!

  • you should see some ice hockey because in canada its the best

  • FANTASY!

    btw happy birthday!

  • Fantasy, I can bring in the perceptions of hell limbo and heaven

  • SCI-FI!

  • sci-fi.

  • Sci Fi

  • Aaargh I can't choose ;__; both are great when done well.

  • Happy pre-birthday

  • Happy Birthday!

  • My birthday was Oct. 2!! :) Happy birthday guys!!

  • @fjordy4

    happy birthday you!

  • very nice advices thank you very much sir!

  • sci fi!!!

  • fantasy...

  • scifi, I was leaning toward fantasy but as I went through my favorite movies in my head, scifi won out.

  • That's a tough choice. I don't think I can choose. If my life depended on it, I'd probably say fantasy. . .because as much as I love Sci Fi, I've seen more fantasy movies that I liked. Also, when they make the Gunslinger movies (and tv series) they will be classified as fantasy. :]

  • Also do you and Craig seriously have the same birthday??

  • @artvandelay13

    yup.

  • While the Lord of the Rings movies (fantasy) are some of my favourite movies ever, I have to go with scifi just because of the sheer number of different awesome scifi movies...

  • october 5th is also my sisters bday! Yay to cool people being born on 10/05!

  • @Letang58Lover

    testify!

  • Fantasy!

  • My brother in laws birthday is on tues day

also i say its because you count back nine months

valentines day. thats right reap what you sow people

    also scifi

  • Fantasy, I've always red these kind of books, so that I like the movies come very easy. The first bigger book I red as a smaller kid was a fantasy. I like to "believe" that there is another world, "close" to us. Sci-fi never fascinated me.

  • sci-fi mostly but i love both of them

  • @pineappleboyfilms Sci-fi, and there is a great reason why my good friend!

The Wachowskis are genuises. V and Matrix!

  • Sci-Fi

  • I still don't believe that was really Craig. He's way too important to spend time in your little vlogs. Clearly, you've built yourself a Craig animatronic. Nice move.

Either that, or you just borrowed one of his clones.

  • Fantasy all the way.

  • Sci-Fi really with the exception of Harry Potter which is awesome

  • I'd say Sci-Fi, because it gives me hope for the future, or at least something to strive for.

  • Any tips on how to do a fight scene?

  • @PlayTimePro

rehearse it A LOT. and if a hit isn't looking good, shoot it from a different angle. i also believe that fight scenes should have stages. start with these circumstances and evolve to different circumstances and again and so on.

  • I really like both but if I had to choose I guess it would be Sci Fi because I love anything superhero related. I'm even trying to make my own superheroine(sp?) movie. Still working on the script. (the bar/fight scene is killing me)

  • SciFi. I love both in a written medium, fantasy even a bit more, but as a film, good fantasy tends to fall flat. Fantasy writing usually has a slower pace so when its transferred into film they have to ramp up the action and a lot of the detail that made it so great is lost. SciFi tends to be easier to explain visually which also helps to keep the pace up for a film.

  • Fantasy, because I like fantasy in general.

  • CN Tower, Toronto Islands, the Science Centre, the Royal Ontario Museum and the Art Gallery of Ontario are definitely must sees when you're in Toronto. And, if you're not embarrassed about being a tourist, I would recommend taking a Hippo Tour!

    Also, Sci-Fi all the way!

  • Totally SciFi. I like some fantasy, but SciFi is really my thing.

  • I would say Sci-fi simply because I've seen more sci-fi movies that I liked than fantasy movies that I liked.

  • @CMiller1334 That being said, the LOTR movies and Stardust are among my favorites.

  • Sci-fi

  • Fantasy! Both awesome though :) I prefer a stronger story line that isn't so in your face.

  • Sci Fi and when you get to Toronto check out the Science Center.

  • spike spiegel! c:

    fantasy. fersure....

  • Fantasy I suppose.

  • SCIFI!!!!!

  • Sci Fi

  • Sci-Fi, I love visions of the future!

  • Sci Fi FTW!

  • Fantasy

  • You know what, neither sci-fi or fantasy... where I have to choose I choose fantasy and this is for a few reasons. Mostly however because I like sci-fi written in a fantasy way. In "real" sci-fi there is a large focus on the science or such (not always real science though), though you often get sci-fi that works on the suspension of disbelief in the same manner as fantasy. Star Wars is a good example of what I am talking about. Jedi "magic" in the force and no science to explain everything.
