Hey Everybody! I have just released my new album 'Unhinged' which is greatly inspired by Brad Fiedel's soundtrack work in the Terminator series. You can stream or download the full album for free on my youtube channel!
Possibly the most powerful scene in cinema history, something as innocent and harmless as a playground, burning and being destroyed, with that beautiful yet sinister theme
This is my favorite of the T-films. James Cameron is an asshole, but he makes a pretty good film.T3 was poop but T4 was good. They should have left well enough alone with T2 though.
fuck T3 and T4! If james cameron and mario kassar have nothing to do with it they are not terminator movies, even putting 3 and 4 in the boxset with 1 and 2 is an insult to 2 sci-fi classics
T1 & T2 where both great! T2 excelling tho as James Cameron and William Wisher where able to produce a superb storyline that coincided with brilliant visual effects! James Cameron directed everything and made sure the film was shown to the viewer they way he had written it... Turned out to be one of the greatest sci fi films ever made.
@TheJboy88 Tell me about it, Imagine looking outside and seeing everything in flames, flesh melting away from peoples bones, not something I would enjoy seeing in the morning.
@undead50 If you're that close and you saw it, you'd most likely be blinded instantly by the flash. Or if you're still alive on impact, got up and looked outside, the radiation and heat would probably cook you too.
Hey everybody - I just released my solo album "Mirror Image" that contains electronic upbeat and ambient songs heavily inspired by the music of Brad Fiedel and the Terminator series. If you're interested you can check out the songs on my youtube page, and links to my myspace page and places to download the full album are on my youtube channel as well :) .
This has got to be one of the greatest if not the greatest opening to a movie ever. Epic and beautiful and ominous. The T-800 at the end is wicked-looking as hell! The fact this came out in the early 90's is mind shattering! The whole movie still holds up today. T2 itself has got to be one of the greatest sequels ever made!
I agree T2 was the best of all terminators. It was much more creative and fundamental. the new ones have the shitiest story line. instead of moving forward with the film, they moved it one step back
This is such a great opener for a movie! The part where the machine comes at you through the flames... so menacing. You just don't see kickass shit like this now'a days...
And that's alright. T3 was decent, but not near as good as the first two. Still, you've got to give it credit for having the balls to go with the that ending.
@pelados41 huh? why ppl doesn't like T3? i mean, it was cool because it's the first T that left us with a cliffhanger...i was like: OMFG I SO NEED T4 NOW!... and they really screwed it up on T4
They could have at least got a buff kick-your-ass seven foot tall woman. And made the concept for the machine a bit better. it's basically an endoskeleton with a thin layer of liquid metal as the outer coating, lol. Not anymore advanced than the T-1000, since it can be crushed and damaged, while T-1000 morphs back together no matter what.
@pelados41 There were no other movies, just the original and the sequel. There was also never a television series. People keep insisting that there were two other Terminator films made, but they're hallucinating. The same thing applies to Alien/Aliens. By stopping at the second movie, Hollywood demonstrated that it does indeed know when to quit.
t4 was good its what youd exspect from a war movie ."WAR" as in "kyle:dood should we make a plotline marcus:do you not notice theres a fuckin big ass robot chaseing us"
Terminator isn't Terminator without James Cameron.
Sarah Connor Chronicles was infinitely better than T4 at the story even for a TV show with a limited budget.
Bale was not meant to be a John Connor.
Josh Friedman & Co. (including BAG, Summer, Richard T, Shirley, an adult Savannah with cameos of other cast members) along with James Cameron need to pitch in if T5 is to be epic.
T4 ruined the nuclear winter darkness, and the machines took people to jail instead of killing.
Some music and films are iconic. T2 is just that. It is such a brilliant film, with one of the best musical scores ever. T1 AND T2 are the best in the series. I try and pretend that no sequels were made!!
Not with Bale's terrible overacting. Note the opening T4 scene where he radios that he is basically the only survivor...his yell just screams OVERACTING! The river scene is another example of his overacting mixed with the shitty plot line that is T4.
Okay, Maybe T4 has some faults but it does have a few redeaming qualities. one of which is that they made the T800 a bad ass again. From T2 to T3 it was obsolite and was getting its ass kicked. In this movie it was very hard to stop.
wouldn't go with "DISASTER"... to me it was like Live Free or Die Hard was to the Die Hard franchise... it was entertaining and a decent action movie, it just didn't feel like Terminator (except for the use of machines of course).
and as a follow up, i blame whoever made Terminator 3 for even trying to continue the franchise! IT WAS SOOOO UNNECESSARY! and now we're stuck with sequels that, let's face it, can NEVER match the first two, no matter who directs them! Because let's face it...as much as I'd love it, Cameron's not gonna even try to save what's left of his legacy by directing the next two movies
I love this theme...the one in the original was very cold and metallic because arnold was just a killing machine....this one has a softer and almost a tragic feel to it because this time arnold's character is so much more sympathetic....
i really hope they have this theme in t:salvation...just having this theme would make the movie better...if it opened the movie it would wash fans over with nostalgia...McG!!! get it in there!!
Good name you have there. And the point is true. Go to a toy section of a big box store, and smash the little robuts! (misspelling and humour intended)
This theme, the los angeles pictures before this sequence, the fact that this is 1991, all of this combines into some great picture of 90s childhood and a great cultural point. I think this song is awesome.
I tried to watch I couldn't when I saw the trailer for the show the only thing I find cool was the shot of the Terminator skin being burn off ... I guess I just don't think Terminator really works on the small screen ....... but that is just me .... they are on S2.... I have liked shows that did not even make ep.14 so ... maybe I don't no taste..lol whatever... CHECK OUT BT2.....
I have a ritual called 'terminator'. I crouch in the shower in the "naked terminator" pose. With eyes closed I crouch for a minute and visualize either Arnie or the guy from the 2nd movie. I then start to hum the T2 theme. Slowly I rise to a standing position and open my eyes. It helps me get through my day. The only problem is if the shower curtain sticks to my terminator leg. It sorta ruins the fantasy.
I love this movie, brings back some real good memories, I remember being 11, when it came out on video and we all watched it.. was cool, I love this music too.
Nice! I have the T2 theme song as my ringtone. I'm trying to get the Sarah Connor Chronicles ending credits song also as a ringtone. This song brings me back to when I used to live in California and I was a child when I first seen this movie. Terminator Franchise FTW!
This movie is my favorite of the series. I wasn't too impressed by the third one. And given that the next one, Terminator Salvation, is being directed by McG, I'm almost certain it's going to suck.
ya i thought that t2 was the best also, because we got to see great action, but also i love the connor and t-800 dialogue, it was action packed but there was deep meaning in that connor was trying to teach t-800 that there our other methods to succeed and in turn that made him more than the average action hero, because of connor trying to make him a person, the climax of the movie was so powerful it didn't even need words. moral "its not what you are its what you do" that is why this is thebest
But "We Are Marshall"... I only watched it while at work, and thus in a disjointed and non-attempt-to-be-engrossed way. I thought it was an ok movie, but I don't have much hope for any future "Terminator" movies until about 10-15 years from now when some genuine remake or similar story is bounced out, which might be cool, especially if it is more of a similar theme rather than a remake.
Also, I enjoyed (like you enjoy any dumb film in a base way) the third film at the time, but I now recant that. I didn't really think about how the terminator films have been such a part of my cultural upbringing at the time.
All the way with the Ultimate Edition DVD of T2, though I actually like the ending that Cameron chose more than the "Extended edition" ending.
Christopher Nolan doesn't have anything to do with this movie. The only thing that might redeem this movie is the fact that Jonathan Nolan (Christopher Nolan's brother) has written the script -- and he writes some amazing scripts! But there are three other script co-writers for this movie as well, so I'm not keeping my hopes too high.
@saa182 Thanks for posting this video. This is one of the greatest opening title sequences of all time (remember *when* we used to have them?). Too bad the sound level is so low I have to increase the volume excessively. Some other videos of this same sequence have more powerful sound level - probably the reason they have more views...
I get ready to this song each morning.
