Superb! How could any music lover, or Beethoven lover, not like this? It is true to the original score and expertly played with feeling and sheer musicality. If Yo-yo Ma played it on Cello would they like it?
two things to help people who are interested: on a bass, the strings are thick enough to resonate a loud pitch just by hammering onto the note. this allows the use of all 8 fingers. the second thing to note, is that on a 5 string bass guitar, the extra string is actually a lower B, not a higher string. but on a 6 string bass, the higher string is added in the -standard- tuning of C or for example, the fender VI (6 string) bass had the same tuning as a guitar (EADGBE).
@DanniRayge1212 If you look above where it says "this video is a response to..." then a link, that link has the sheet music in the video and a link to the sheet music in the description. If you want to play classical music, I would think you have to know to read sheet music not just tabs. Even if you can't play by sight reading, you should at least be able to figure it out note by note. Also I don't think a 4 string will have enough range to play this whole piece, which is written for piano.
People who watch some of this mans videos and criticize his tapping skills on his other videos as if that is the only thing he can do. The problem is that there really are man musicians out there who are widly recognized for playing in one specific niche and staying there throughout their careers. This man is the exact opposite of that. The problem ACTUALLY is that some people cannot understand how awesome these displays of EVERY style of music you could want from a single person.
hey man i wont ask you for tabs because i've always wanted to work this one out for myslef, but i do have one question. Are you in standard tuning for this? And thankyou for uploading your videos, you are one of the main catalysts for kick starting me into playing classical music on the bass, you've got inspirational arrangments:) so thanks
@gunryobassist I'd recommend you go to his channel and find his email to email him. He says he doesn't respond to YouTube messages (and presumably not comments either).
@DEFYINGgravityDE Its all about how softly you can pick the strings. This technique works on my bass perfectly. Or maybe it's the type of strings you use? i use power slinky.
@DEFYINGgravityDE You can hear it just a little bit on here. I was thinking Flatwound strings but those are hard to tap on. lol I don't know what this dude's amazing technique is!
This was dreadfully beautiful! This is my favorite song of all time and you did such a wonderful job of bringing the bass guitar and moonlight sonata together. Bravo! I think I'm in love ;)

JESUS!!! this is perfection in every aspect of the word! ~you didn't so much as stutter of rhythm AT ALL even one time! Every note was so clear and defined!... Jesus, just JESUS! ............. that was amazing
@SeanGann1 The other explanation is that what's played live is played in front of an audience without do-overs, and what comes out is what comes out. Studio recordings like this involve several takes, and the best take is used or the best parts are spliced together to eliminate any errors. When I record a video it usually takes 5 or 6 tries to get the poor performances I come up with.
Live performances always have clinkers included that can't be fixed in post production, because there isn't any.
I play this song on 6-string guitar in the key of A minor, but you can actually not only pull it off on bass, but can cover the whole tonality in C# minor. Dude, you have definitely impressed me!!! Excellent performance!
