My Heart melts every time I hear the golden voice of Phil Collins, he is truly an icon who transcends all generations. He has been my All Time #1 Favorite since I was in High School, and now my six year old son says the same. We both thoroughly enjoy his music with and without Genesis. Thank you for posting this awesome video as it is one of our very favorites!
think you might have the wrong end of the stick here.....
my interpretation is that he is finding himself falling in love again and trying to delay the process or stopping himself from "falling for this women" in case he gets hurt or it doesn't work out.....
The lyric "please don't rush in this time" and "don't show her how you feel" should explain alot...

I love the way at 2:35 Phil takes a look at Daryl and smiles as if to say 'Jeez this is a high one mate, but I'll make it!!' Great tune this....
