  • It's good prisoners are out doing this work. We the state are paying to house these prisoners in jail. It costs a lot to house these prisoners. Why not have the prisoners earn their keep. They might also learn a lesson and get on the road to rehabilitation. When they get out of jail. They might be less prone to commit a crime again.

  • Before unions and government regulations, children worked 60 hour weeks alongside their parents in textile mills, earning just enough to rent small, poorly constructed houses (owned by their employers) with other families. Working conditions were extremely hazardous and anybody who complained was immediately fired. It's easy to understand why the Koch brothers would love to return America to a time when workers had no voice. But, why would the rest of you?

  • why don't we let the inmates work at banks and stuff too? they can work for less than a dollar an hour. damn right wing idiots.

  • @iamjsmith83

You must be a product of the Madison school system.

  • this is the reason the bill was necessary.....Its community service!!!!

  • Why should the unions have an issue? It's not like they were doing it anyway...the guy said it was neglected, they stepped in. So the union's way of thinking is "I don't want anyone else to do this job...but I don't really want to do it either...so how about if no one does it."

It's sharing the work, the public workers can work on more important stuff, I don't think it's that big of a deal...

  • My dad used to take inmate crews out and they would do the work the unions were unwilling or charging outrageous prices for. After Doyle boosted their power they cut that job.

Look, I understand unions are important, but they cannot run the state.

  • @williejenkins666 Damn right he saved there jobs, and save the tax payers money. that is why we elected him. Walker has done more good fro this state in 6 months than Doyle did in eight years.

  • Next Stop. Making Wisconsin a Right to Work State.

Crush the Unions, see them driven before you, and hear the lamentations of their women. This is whats best in life.

    XD

  • @ShadenGheist 30 k a year, where are you from? City of Appleton's Web site had open teachers spots, they were looking for seasoned teachers and the are making 50-65 k a year.

    Facts work better then demogoging!

  • @116thgreyhound That was not my post. Try pfan1981. ;)

Looking before you post is always best when DemAgogging.

    LMAO!!!

  • @ShadenGheist Sorry about that! Misread

  • those 30k a year school teachers.......they are the enemy. If you think that, you are not very smart. The real problem are the corporations that are dictating policies. I don't know how I feel about convicted felons out and about....

  • Justin, that's a horrible thing to say. There is no slave labor here. The inmates get paid, and they receive other benefits like housing, food, etc. It gives them self respect, which is something I can tell you don't have after reading your post..

  • This is a good thing, we can "reform" the inmates, and we don't have to pay huge amount of money so someone can push a lawn mower. If the union members have a problem with this then can leave. There are a lot of other states with Libtards in charge. Wait those states are all broke, and there laying people off.

  • Governor Douche Bag (Walker) actually thinks this is a good thing. So instead of tax paying workers working we use slave labor. Mean while unemployment stays high.

  • It's about time inmates earned their keep. Unions should have no say in who works where.
