It should also be noted that Unholy DK's are EXTREMELY beneficial on this fight. I play both frost and unholy, and while frost does have the usually superb DPS/damage control/burst, unholy has a few tricks that stand out. AMZ reduces 75% of the bolts initial damage (regardless of the max amount consumed) and is invaluable here. It is next to useless for ticks like blistering tentacles, but for the bolt its heavenly. Also AMS absorbs 100% of initial incoming damage, making unholy amazing overall.

This is definitely the easiest end-raid heroic boss and that's pretty surprising considering it's the 'end-game' (expansion) boss too. :/ Plus, the mechanics allow for the encounter to progressively get easier as you get more gear (you could simply switch blue and yellow platform around when you have enough gear for the dps to not be an issue) whereas hc bosses like sinestra and ragnaros are still difficult for players who havn't done them in full ilvl397> gear.

If planning to solo tank, what's the next best thing to Death Knights? We have the option of a Druid or Paladin. Also at 10:06 you mention about the Pain Suppression + Dispersion tactic, what's the reason why the raid has to be even further than the Dispersion-only tactic?

Paladin would be stronger imo, raid wall would be sexy. You need to stand out of melee range and make sure that your Shadow Priest is closest to the tentacle (without getting melee hit) before the second impale comes in. The closest target (the Shadow Priest) will get the impale. I'll continue on a another reply about the bolt on Blue.

@tmywu So on the Blue Platform one way of doing it is have your whole raid grouped up for when it lands, right on top of each other and having your Shadow Priest slightly closer to the tentacle than everyone else so he can disperse impale. With proper raid cooldowns down like Barrier for when the bolt lands its pretty easy to keep everyone alive. However to kill the bolt ranged are only good for this tactic, melee obviously need to move back in. If you can stack ranged do this tactic, it's safer

@adre420 you should definitaly get a shadowpriest.. they are really really strong on madness... they do shittons of damage cause they scale very good with the yellow buff, therefore about 8-10k hps on their group... they can disperse the damage of the elementium bolt plus they have 2 raidcooldowns (mana and healing hymns).

The Parasites would be hard to kill on the last two platforms and the very last platform it would be insanely difficult to kill the Tentacle without a third impale, to even kill the Regen Bloods/Parasite without Spellweave. On Paper though it would work, just need insane DPS.
