  • John Piper is an EXCELLENT teacher....

  • Very respectful answer john! Thanks.

  • It doesn't matter so much that Mark Dischol "does it". The Bible would be a better standard. It clearly shows Jesus calling the Pharisees hypocrites, a brood of snakes, white washed tombs etc. And Paul addresses numerous people by name including Peter. It is good to have your facts straight however before launching out with such statements. Many won't confront such issues because they are simply cowards.

  • Prosperity preaches teach a false gospel. Prosperity in the greek means "good path or good road." We've been deceived and need authentic truth to combat such lies. Shalom.

  • This is so good. At the end of the we will have to an account of our own lives not other preachers or people.

  • I am glad that piper is admitting his hypocrisy. he has some videos that are nothing but unfounded unfair rants. He admits here that he does not read about the people that he exaggerates about.

  • @atestring100 What if Piper spent the time preaching Jesus instead of slamming thos that he admits he knows nothing about?

  • @atestring100 John Piper is not slamming anyone. He is answering the question. He talks more about what he wants to avoid in this video than anyone else. He is most humble.

  • i have a newfound respect for John Piper because of this video...God bless you my brother!

  • Prosperity is the result of blessing but it is not the blessing.... In God we become wiser, we become more productive and we become spiritually stronger.. as a result we become more successful in the material ways... So our hope comes not that believing in God will make us Rich..but we are already rich on that day in Calvary... We are rich with the gifts and fruits of the holy spirit.... but these gifts were given to empower us to be his faithful servant whether we are rich or poor

  • I love and respect the humility of John Piper in his commentary here. I think alot of people who expose other christians could learn alot from his humble position

  • VERY WELL SAID WITH GREAT EXAMPLES!!!

  • who cares if it´s appropriate.

    you christians....

none of you resemble in any way anything Jesus taught.

    It´s absurd, really.

  • Should someone have mentioned Rev Jim Jones by name?...come on..i think part of it is fear..Paul called names! You let Ken Copeland call God the biggest failure then respond in principle when thousands follow him?..Piper is my guy but I disagree.. God bless

  • Amen! Take the beam out of my own eye first, then I will be able to see clearly enough to take the speck out of someone else's.

  • Dr. Piper does not know thier doctrine eigther.

Dr. Piper proves that he is ignorant about faith in this video.

Word of Faith is about faith and defeating satan.

God is not the ememy of the elect. Satan is the enemy of the elect.

Piper tweets himself how rich he is: vainglorious false humility.

    pride of poverty.

  • John Piper needs to REGULARLY send people to THIS message.

He should follow it with another acknowledging how his conscience has smitten him about he condemnation of his brethren and how much he regrets fanning the flames of hatred against them.

I'm not going to be holding my breath, though.

No one expects Baptists to repent. After all, they're Baptists! No one is more right in the whole world.

  • "I think everybody loves the prosperity gospel." -- John Piper

    About time he admitted it.

The problem is HE WASN'T HONEST ENOUGH. If he was, he would have said, "...and we condemn those who preach it and seem to prosper because we're jealous and feel cheated. We think it's unfair that we don't have more because *we're so faithful to God AND THEY'RE NOT* but we dare not criticize God so we condemn them and refuse to recognize our hypocrisy OR that the Scripture NAILS us for it."

  • This clip really moved me. The plank in my own eye is usually a mirror that reflects back into myself. The prosperity gospel I criticize, the prideful people I criticize, and the hate I express is a result of my dissatisfaction with my own heart. Yes, I need a Savior. Thank you, Jesus. Thank you, Pastor Piper.

  • We must name and rebuke every false teacher! The prosperity gospel is a lie from Hell!

  • The real problem with the prosperity gospel is the same problem with several other popular teachings. It is not that they are wrong. It is that they exaggerate a portion of the gospel to the exclusion of the whole gospel. Jesus himself promises an abundant life (prosperity). But he says a lot more than just abundant life. The prosperity gospel is not wrong. It's incomplete.

  • @bejjinks I disagree. Prosperity preachers always quote from the Old Testament. Had we been Jewish and lived in Old Testament times, then the Prosperity gospel would be correct. I.e. in Old Testament times, God often rewarded people with material wealth. See Abraham, Job and Solomon (Solomon asked for wisdom - God was pleased and gave him riches as well) for example. But we as Christians are under the law of Christ - the new covenant.

  • @steve1984spf How can you disagree with me when I agree with you? You are just restating my point. These prosperity gospel people exaggerate portions of the Bible such as the stories of Solomon's wealth to the exclusion of other portions of the Bible such as the law of Christ and having an abundance of the Holy Spirit. We seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, AND THEN AFTER THAT all these things will be added to us.

  • @bejjinks I agree with you. I was just trying to make your point clearer. I think the prosperity preachers are fulfilling 2 Tim 4:3. I.e we live in an age of false teaching. That's why we need to know our Bibles. I thank God for preachers like John Piper. Sorry if I offended you.

  • @steve1984spf Not offended. I want to encourage you to keep going. My hope is that we can bring everyone to the FULLNESS of the truth. May our Lord Jesus Christ bless you.

  • @bejjinks Pointing out the "exclusions" is good understanding. The promise of "wealth and riches" being "in the house of the righteous" is clearly taught from Adam until now in the Scriptures, and Piper is prosperous or he COULDN'T have taken off for eight months, but the pitfalls of covetousness, the error of wanting to be rich and the consequences of greed are woefully neglected by SO MANY who preach prosperity. THIS is where they should have been challenged, but it takes wise people to do so.

  • @bejjinks cont2 Instead, preachers without either the wisdom or understanding of Scripture and refusing to love the brethren, and accompanied by a significant degree of DENIED jealousy, many have NOT HEARD GOD and have hypocritically leveled the WRONG ACCUSATIONS against their brethren AND failed to judge themselves.

The consequences are GREATER RIFTS in the body of Christ instead of greater love of the brethren.

If you think they're not jealous of Kenneth's and Jesse's jets you kid yourself!

  • What then? Only that in every way, whether in pretense or in truth, Christ is proclaimed; and in this I rejoice. Yes, and I will rejoice, Philippians 1:18

We are not jealous of the prosperity preachers. We truly believe that they preach out of pretense instead of truth. But we tolerate them because at least they proclaim Christ.

Many will say to Me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your name, and in Your name cast out demons, and in Your name perform many miracles?’ Matthew 7:22

  • @bejjinks You're deceived by men and get your doctrine from them. You sound like a parrot.

If you'd get the know the risen Lord Jesus and BELIEVE His Word, you'd see through the UNBELIEF of those you cherish and see the legitimacy of the prosperity message and how scriptural it is, although there is, as I've said PLENTIFULLY, the failure to balance the teaching with the many admonitions against covetousness, greed and the desire to be rich.

    I say again. YOU'RE A PARROT.

  • @911dispatcher

What is the source of quarrels and conflicts among you? Is not the source your pleasures that wage war in your members? James 4:1

Are you listening to teachers that tell you what you want to hear? Are you quarreling with me because your pleasures rule you? I have not attacked you but you have attacked me and called me a parrot.

Wealth is not a sin. Many wealthy will enter the kingdom of God. Just be careful that you do not put wealth as a god above the one true God.

  • @bejjinks I think I overspoke I get so much ignorance and belligerence (and I'm always running behind on YouTube) and text is such an inadequate medium that I too often see more animosity than is there. I apologize.

On the other hand, I've been dealing with the same hostile unbelief since you were barely out of diapers and it's so prevalent, that I kind of put up a wall to keep from 'feeling the attack' and sometimes don't hear a genuinely (and extremely rare) good-natured admonition.

  • @bejjinks I'm taught by God. That's not arrogance and of course it's not all-inclusive. I have opinions and I've very careful to distinguish between opinion and God's Word because opinion, disposition and experience all shape our paradigms. However, the truth of God's redemptive promises and their all-encompassing provision is a marvelous truth that the deceiver keeps from God's children. Of course the Word warns about greed, the desire to be rich and covetousness. That's PART of what we teach.

  • @bejjinks "We are not jealous of the prosperity preachers. We truly believe that they preach out of pretense instead of truth. But we tolerate them because at least they proclaim Christ.

Many will say to Me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your name, and in Your name cast out demons, and in Your name perform many miracles?’ Matthew 7:22"

Those two remarks set me off, because in the 1st, you attack ALL and in the second you DO parrot a multitude who are told what to believe.

  • @bejjinks I do encourage you to stop using that second quote. Its use labels you with the wrong folks (IMO) -- an unbelieving group who despise the power that accompanies salvation.

To ameliorate my issue, I've taken to often checking out channels before I respond, but in your case I failed to do so (sorry). Having done it now, I rejoiced to see a genuine believer who also appreciates my all time favorite group, the 2nd Chapter of Acts!

I want to say more about the goodness of God. It was

    cont

  • @911dispatcher I will not reject any portion of the Bible. I'll grant you that some people over emphasize certain verses like Matthew 7:22 and they need to learn to keep it in balance and context with the rest of the Bible. But that is no reason for me to reject Matthew 7:22 and stop using it.

All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, 2 Timothy 3:16

  • @bejjinks Matt 7:22 is MISUSED. It is used by "unbelieving believers" in an exegetical quagmire of nonsense, the users thereof PRETENDING that it's really saying that those who claim they believe in and experience miracles aren't really born again. That's simple dishonesty with what the Word says. The same users believe in eternal security and therefore their false doctrine compels them to put those with whom they disagree outside of the faith -- more dishonesty. I know this isn't all, but MANY.

  • @bejjinks cont2 God's decision to determine our inheritance, not ours. The fact that some preachers have failed to adequately judge themselves in regard to money is actually common, and "prosperity" preachers don't have a corner on greed and you should already know that. Many who preach against them HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM! That's a poor excuse to fail to hear what the Spirit speaks. Do you know of ANY perfect preachers? Yet, the God ordained message is being rejected because there is a "mixture."

  • @bejjinks cont3 BUT... in reality, that's not the reason. The reason is the men who are preaching it also believe in the baptism in the Holy Ghost, speaking in tongues, signs, wonders, healings, miracles, experiences with God, etc. and the unbelieving POWERLESS preachers who attack them HATE THEM.

That's the bottom line. If Charles Stanley preached it, they'd say, "Well, that's what 3John1:2 says. You got a problem with the Bible?

The real problems here are unbelief, contempt and jealousy..

  • @bejjinks cont4 Sorry, I can't quit, here. Furthermore, they're getting "mileage" out of it. They're getting attention, listeners, offerings, selling books, speaking engagements, etc. In other words, the very prosperity they're attacking is feeding their prosperity but they call that "the blessing of God" while in the prosperity preachers, they call it greed. If you don't smell hypocrisy and dishonesty, then you need to listen to this video until your head becomes clear.

    I encourage you to

  • @911dispatcher p.s. They're calling it "the blessing of God" to their family and friends. They're NOT SAYING ANYTHING ABOUT IT PUBLICLY. What? You think they want the public to think? But consider, If you were offered thousands of dollars to criticize prosperity, couldn't you find SOMETHING to say that you could justify?

"follow the money" works on both sides.

  • @bejjinks cont5 a LOT of prayer and several months seeking God (you already know this somewhat because I read your earlier posts) about just how complete and thorough our inheritance is and what all it covers. The more time you spend on it, the more you will be AWED by the love and grace of God. He went so far BEYOND the forgiveness of our sins it's very easy for me to see why He's "a God who hides Himself." The violent are pressing into the kingdom and seizing it by force but He gives it to us.

  • @911dispatcher This time, I agree with most of what you're saying. We do have a great inheritance that God has planned for us. In fact, God expects us to boldly claim our inheritance. The reason He hated Esau is because Esau sold his inheritance, treating the inheritance as worthless. This inheritance isn't necessarily money but we are promised an abundant life which does mean way more than just meeting our needs. God supplies in abundance way more than we can imagine.

  • @bejjinks Yes, I'm glad you see part of God's goodness, but you don't see how good He really is. You don't understand about corruption and redemption because you think God is judging according to deeds. You said so plainly about Esau. You need to read your Bible more carefully. Meditate on Romans 9:11 and read the passage around it. Then consider how amazing is the grace of God. This is what the Calvinists call total depravity and irresistible grace. (No, I'm not a Calvinist. I'm a Believer.)

  • @BludBaut

We know that we have passed out of death into life, because we love the brethren. He who does not love abides in death. 1 John 3:14

Some prosperity preachers would rewrite this verse as follows:

We know that we have passed out of death into life, because we have been blessed with lots of money. He who does not believe in the prosperity evangelist abides in death.

I don't think God judges according to deeds.

  • @bejjinks I think you're wrongly judging to put such words in men's mouths, but I don't listen to flakes, do you? Why would you listen to a man long enough to think you're qualified to put such words in their mouths in light of Prov 14:7?

Doesn't every Scripture about judgment in the New Testament declare that God will judge us for our deeds? Why would you contradict the Word? He looks on the heart, but judgment will be according to works. Check again.

  • @bejjinks What I think what you GREATLY missed about that Scripture quote is that those who HATE the Word of Faith doctrine and all the Believers IN JESUS who embrace its SOLID BIBLICAL FOUNDATION, such as John Piper and many others are indicted by that Scripture and REFUSE TO ACCEPT WHAT IT PLAINLY SAYS.

I think you should think about that. There's an awful lot of hate that's been dished out against Christians for believing the Bible by powerless unbelieving "believers" who reject TRUTH

    cont

  • @911dispatcher btw, who are the Kenneth and Jesse that you refer to? Are they prosperity teachers or are they teachers that happen to prosper? Who are you defending?

  • @bejjinks Kenneth Copeland and Jesse Duplantis. Two men who own nice jets. In fact, Kenneth Copeland has given away 35 planes.

Does that mean that everything they say and do is correct? The question is stupid. NO PREACHER DOES EVERYTHING CORRECTLY and NO preacher has perfect doctrine. This is ANOTHER PLACE where the "discernment" liars, I mean, "ministries" LIE. "Doctrine" ISN'T "Fruit" and the LIARS pretend it is.

Don't forget Stephen, or the Baptist or Jude or Paul with Elymas or John 8:44.

  • @911dispatcher Kenneth and Jesse may very well be genuine Spirit filled Christians. However, that still doesn't change my opinion of the Word of Faith doctrine. And again I say, it is not that the prosperity doctrine is wrong. The prosperity doctrine is right and Biblical. But it is incomplete and severely out of balance. If Kenneth and Jesse teach a more balanced message that includes but does not over emphasize prosperity, then I support them.

  • @bejjinks And I wasn't really defending them. I was attacking those who attack them because of their presumption and dishonesty and disobedience. Presumption because they DO NOT know the Word or the assignments God has given to men. NOVICES OPENING THEIR MOUTHS AGAINST MEN OF GOD because of fools like Hanegraaff, MacArthur and a plethora of other UNBELIEVING IDIOTS who wouldn't know Jesus if He walked in the room. They have ZERO revelation in the Word and without revelation, the Word is CLOSED!

  • @bejjinks HOW THEN do they PRESUME to exalt themselves against the Spirit of God and PRESUME TO JUDGE THE MEN GOD PUT IN OFFICE?? Because men like MacArthur and Hanegraaff and the Internet FOOLS who DON'T KNOW GOD have ENCOURAGED THEM TO EXALT THEMSELVES AGAINST THE SPIRIT AND THE MEN OF GOD. They are suffering NOW for it by being cut off from the light and life of God and if they don't repent, they will be judged further.

Should I say, "Oh, now, be nice brother. Be sweet." Would they listen?

  • @bejjinks You might also remember Matt 10:34, that is if it's still part of your Bible. ;-)

  • @911dispatcher

“Do not think that I came to bring peace on the earth; I did not come to bring peace, but a sword. Matthew 10:34

I read the whole Bible and do not reject any verse in the Bible.

  • @bejjinks cont2

... and the reason they reject truth is because John Piper, or John MacArthur, or a plethora of other men (feigning to be) "of God," whose faith is small and weak and unbelieving have misrepresented the Word of God and deprived their members of the power and phenomenal grace that's been provided by Jesus. The Word tells US to turn away from such who deny the power of the the gospel and NONE of these scoffers who do so recognize THEMSELVES yet mock and ridicule TRUE BELIEVERS.

  • @911dispatcher Do you have to be so aggressive? Many of the points you make are points I agree with but because you say them so aggressively, it is difficult for me to not respond back to you with aggression.

A gentle answer turns away wrath, But a harsh word stirs up anger. Proverbs 15:1

If I spoke like I was qualified to judge others, forgive me for allowing myself to be provoked by your aggressive tone. All I was really attempting to say is summed up in 1 Timothy 6.

  • @bejjinks We all err. I spend too much time countering the wicked who are worse than aggressive and it affects me. On the other hand, Jesus appeared to me before I was born again and told me the Gospel and 39 years later it's EXTREMELY annoying to see the millions of UNBELIEVING "believers" despising God, His Word and His promises. They're HOSTILE TO JESUS and frankly, it angers me. They claim to know Him but they lie -- they're filled with unbelief and REFUSE TO BELIEVE His precious promises!

  • @bejjinks So, I beg your forbearance. I've seen healings beyond number and miracles by the dozens and arrogant UNBELIEVERS stand up, who listen to liars like John MacArthur and Hank Hanegraaff and a little less, Piper, men whose GOAL is to drive the weak unbelieving sheep AGAINST FAITH that pleases God and AGAINST His children who know how to walk by faith. That's a hard pill to swallow to hear them parrot every word SATAN gives them. It's beyond offensive. It's blasphemous and it's evilPs139:21

  • @911dispatcher I don't know who Hank Hanegraaff is. I've heard of John MacArthur but don't know him well enough to say anything about him. I listen to John Piper sometimes because often, he does have good insight. But I'm much more likely to listen to David Wilkerson, Paul Washer, Mark Kielar, Monica Dennington and a number of others.

  • @bejjinks Of course, I've made it clear that if one cannot hear God, they've got a GREAT disconnect from Bible faith and therefore, EVERYONE should understand the NECESSITY of getting their doctrine from God. However, we do learn from others. Therefore (on YouTube), I'd recommend that you look up Dan Mohler Todd White, and ALL the others these guys HATE because those are the guys walking by the Spirit of God. The ones you mentioned are indeed Believers but they've been TOO MOVED by unbelief.

  • @bejjinks REMEMBER, in this dispensation, ALL GLORY GOES TO JESUS. He made it hard on Himself and easy on us so that we may give Him the glory! The Gospel is FAR BETTER than most people realize! The inheritance God's given us is received by FAITH and that faith is FOUNDED in the God's REDEMPTION promises!

Tests and trials come, but they come "because (G1223 διά dia -- through, because, by) of the Word... "

This is something else the unbelieving believers miss because they cannot hear Him.

  • @bejjinks The baptism in the Spirit is the receiving of the Holy Spirit, intended by God to be accompanied by tongues and the other manifestations of the Spirit and is ABSOLUTELY SUBSEQUENT TO the new birth and this is NOT DEBATABLE by an honest man and EASILY PROVABLE but how many on this page will accept this truth? And why not? Because they prefer lies and they prefer dead religion without power. These are the people of whom Paul said "turn away."

I used to want to believe they were we.

  • @911dispatcher I have been baptized in the Spirit and have spoken in tongues.

All do not have gifts of healings, do they? All do not speak with tongues, do they? All do not interpret, do they? 1 Corinthians 12:30

Now I wish that you all spoke in tongues, but even more that you would prophesy; and greater is one who prophesies than one who speaks in tongues, unless he interprets, so that the church may receive edifying. 1 Corinthians 14:5

    Also read 1 Corinthians 13:8

  • @bejjinks Remember Heb 11:6 and meditate on it. NONE of the people you mention EVER emphasize it. That OUGHT to tell you something. Without faith it is IMPOSSIBLE to please God. When you meditate on that, consider what it doesn't say. It doesn't say, "It's easier to please God with faith." It doesn't say, "Obeying God pleases God."

That's a shocker! WHY DOESN'T IT SAY THAT??? Because the Law was given to remove man's confidence in his flesh and "obedience" is USUALLY driven by pride of self.

  • @911dispatcher obedience to God pleases God: 1 Samuel 15:22, 1 John 2:5-6, 1 Peter 4:17, Hebrew 11:8, Hebrew 4:2, 2 Thessalonians 1:8, Galatians 5:7, Romans 6:16-17, Romans 2:13, Acts 5:29, John 14:23-24, Luke 11:28, Zechariah 6:15, Micah 5:15

Many of these verses do make a distinction between obeying God and obeying the wisdom of men. But they clearly indicate that we are to obey God.

Hebrews 11:6 is a favorite verse of the Church I attend.

  • @bejjinks I was concerned that you'd miss my point. This is EXACTLY what is wrong with the vast majority of Christians and preachers. You didn't PAY ATTENTION to the Scripture I gave you. Heb. 11:6. You DIDN'T HEAR IT. Read it again and again and again until you GET IT. FAITH IS OBEDIENCE. Hebrews shows us this by calling "disobedience," "unbelief." First meditate on Prov 20:12 and then on Heb. 11:6. and then Rom 10:4.

You won't get this from the people you listen to.

  • @bejjinks This is the victory that overcomes the world, our faith 1Jn 5:5.

The vast majority of what most Christians call obedience in simply the Law. But you can not steal, not kill, not lie, not cheat, not hate and NEVER EXERCISE FAITH! You've GOT to reorient your thinking. The LAW IS NOT OUR FOCUS. The letter kills. YOUR Bible says that. ... but the Spirit gives life. The Spirit gives life in our walking in faith. Most Christians don't exercise ten min. of faith a day! Read Romans 14:23.

  • Comment removed

  • @bejjinks Frankly, I'm disappointed that you gave me those Scriptures. I'd hoped that you'd look at what I said long enough and thoughtfully enough to get the point, but you didn't. How can you think I'd place so much emphasis on hearing God and believing the Bible and then recommend disobeying God??? It's silly.

But natural obedience to the rules in the Bible IS NOT FAITH! Faith TAKES TO HEART AND BELIEVES THE PROMISES of God and THAT'S what pleases God. Faith is eager and opportunistic.

  • @911dispatcher I have studied the scripture you mentioned and taken them to heart. But Jesus did not come to abolish the law. The law of the Lord is perfect (Psalms 19:7-13). You said, "the Law was given to remove man's confidence". Where is that in the Bible? We were meant to obey the law and not one dot of the law is abolished. But all of us fail and that is where God gives grace to make up the difference for our failure. The more we fail, the more God's grace but it does not abolish the law.

  • @bejjinks I gave you Romans 10:4. You clearly haven't meditated on it. I phrased the statement the way I did so that you would see the perspective because the BRAINWASHING that you've received JUST LIKE THE GALATIANS RECEIVED (except the Judaizers of today don't mention circumcision because they have no motive. The REPLACE it with "tithing" and other issues of the law). You really need to get the message of Galatians deep in your heart.

The exaltation of the Law *to Christians* is GREAT

    cont

  • @911dispatcher Christ is the end of the law as in he fulfilled it, not abolished it.

  • @bejjinks You're adding your interpretation to it. Why not quote the verse just as it's written and meditate on God's Word only and not God's Word with your interpretation added?

That seems wiser to me. God's a stickler for His Word and He doesn't appreciate people changing it.

I'm telling you plainly that you don't see the VAST difference between LAW and GRACE. Galatians 5 states CLEARLY BEYOND DOUBT that MIXING LAW REMOVES GRACE!

You REALLY NEED to get that.

  • @911dispatcher If what I said is an interpretation of scripture, than you are ten times more guilty of interpretation of scripture than I am. Why do you keep quarreling with me? I accept every scripture that you refer to and agree with every point you make and yet you still accuse me of this and that.

What is the source of quarrels and conflicts among you? Is not the source your pleasures that wage war in your members? James 4:1

    Peace, brother.

  • @bejjinks because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit who gives life has set you free from the law of sin and death. Romans 8:2

  • @bejjinks I can't over emphasize this issue of the Law being a snare. God took me into Galatians and spoke powerfully to me through it as a very young believer before I ever heard anyone preach on it. Do you realize that Galatia is the ONLY church for which Paul DID NOT THANK GOD? Check it.. Wash yourself with Galatians. It was an oversight on my part to not include it with the chapters in the other three books. If you'll give serious believing prayer and meditation to this for months, it WILL

  • @bejjinks cont2 CHANGE your life and your appreciation of your covenant, the love of God, His manifold grace, your confidence, peace and faith. Instead of asking God for things, you'll find His Spirit encouraging you to take your authority and speak to circumstances and obstacles JUST LIKE HE SAID in the Bible. If you'll notice, Jesus never prayed for people. He spoke to them, to spirits and to things. Jesus didn't command us to pray for the sick; He told us to heal the sick and cast out demons.

  • @bejjinks "The law of the Lord is perfect, converting the soul." What you fail to appreciate is that "Law" is "Torah" and means "instruction" also and should be read that way BY NEW COVENANT BELIEVERS. That will give you a more proper focus because the New Testament says that Christ has done WHAT THE LAW COULD NOT DO and you need to get that in your heart. You have a BETTER COVENANT than the Law. The Law is NOT ABLE to make anyone righteous but Jesus does that AS WE WALK IN FAITH. Re: Eph 2:8.

  • @bejjinks You ask for Scripture from me on the Law issue when I wasn't quoting Scripture but giving you an overview. Yet you said "God gives grace to make up the difference for our failure." Try to find Scripture that says that. YOU CAN'T. "Grace reigns through righteousness." "By grace through faith." You MUST get that. The two work in tandem. Grace is God's part and faith is our part. They work AT THE SAME TIME. This is the victory that OVERCOMES the world, our faith ("even" isn't there).

    cont

  • @bejjinks cont2 Now, put the implications of grace and faith together and you'll see how wrong your remark is. Grace is the provision for us to move by faith (or as some people say, "the power to obey") while our faith in that grace is THE VICTORY because our faith is ALWAYS OF GOD IF IT IS REALLY FAITH. "By grace through faith." God's part was provided at Calvary and our attention to His Word determines our faith level. The grace is there for all the promises of God but our faith level grows.

  • @bejjinks cont3 I wanted to stop there but I must clarify what I said. "Attention" alone isn't going to increase our faith. Rom 14:23 "... whatever is not of faith is sin." Even our Bible reading and meditation MUST be done in faith. Faith is to be exercised continually. Now, you don't do it and I don't do it. The man who walks in faith every moment is walking if complete victory. It's ours, but we're hindered by the limitations of our flesh and our unbelief and Rom 14:23 is telling us.

    Bye now

  • @911dispatcher By the way, I watched some Dan Mohler videos. I would not call him a prosperity preacher. I would call him a man of great faith. I like him so far and will watch more of his videos when I get the chance.

  • @bejjinks Great! I only found him only a few months ago by chance on YouTube. I think he's terrific. He also has audio msgs. on his website and good video msgs. on others' sites. Add "Todd White" to his name when searching and you'll get their website and the right Todd White at other locations. The more you learn about Todd, the more you'll appreciate him too.

  • @bejjinks cont2 DECEPTION. I can tell you don't see that from your comments, but YOU REALLY DO NEED TO. You need to meditate on Rom 10:4 and you need to learn by practice that meditation on the Word is the KEY to revelation. This is what will make you "wiser than all your teachers" (Ps 119:99) if you'll make a habit of it and combine it with much praying tongues. Understand that most preachers are reaching the common denominator of lazy Christians who have little revelation and rarely hear God.

  • @bejjinks You've associated with too much unbelief. "gifts of healings" are not a possession of a man -- they are the actual healings. There are about eight ways to get healed and healing is just one of the redemptive promises. Make yourself pray in tongues an hour or two a day and during that time, meditate on Eph 1-3, Col 1-3, and 1Cor 1-2 and pray for God to make real IN YOU those wonderful promises and truths that religious people just read over and don't understand. Do this for six months.

  • @bejjinks Next time the devil attacks your children try saying, "Nice Mr. devil, would you please mind leaving my child alone?"

See where it gets you. The devil isn't nice and if you've read the responses to my posts then you've seen that the devil isn't nice. Who has said, "Really? Power? We have authority over sickness and disease? We can cast out demons? We can do miracles? Mark 16 is really true?"

Did you EVER SEE THAT ONE TIME? So to whom am I going to be nice? I said remember John 8:44

  • @911dispatcher

For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places. Ephesians 6:12

Be nice to fellow humans. I am not your enemy. Of course we can rebuke the enemy but why are you attacking me. One common tactic of the enemy is to get us fighting with each other so we stop fighting him.

  • @bejjinks Jesus said - it is harder for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter heaven. It's ok to be rich, have a prosperous business, get promotion at work etc, but getting rich should not be our primary goal. Wisdom and Spiritual prosperity is better than material wealth. See 1 Tim 3-10 - The Love of Money.

  • Thank you Pastor John for being humble in your response, you gave the right answer! God bless you. Everyone needs to take this attitude.

  • I LOL'ed at "I think everybody loves the prosperity gospel" : ) @1:50

  • "Mark Driscoll does it." Haha Yes he does, and its great.

  • I don't see how you can disagree with this video even if you don't believe the Bible. He is clearly motivated by love for others and for God. I love Piper and how God is using Him. Isn't God amazing for how He can turn wicked people like you and me into tools of His Will! Glory be to God forever and ever!

  • It is not a 'prosperity' gospel, it is a 'change your thinking' gospel. Prosperity is only a partial result of successfully getting your mind working right.

  • God loves ur humility John!

  • grateful to God for this man's example of humility

  • I don't get why he called himself a sinner in need of grace. Is he not saved ?

  • @xxSageTUBExx Christians sin too you know, therefore we need the grace of God to help us to sin less and for us to grow in our relationship with Christ.

  • Prosperity teaching can have truth to it. However, we need to realize that most prosperity preachers have extremely poor congregations and may be seeking to lift his people in spirit. The only place in the bible where God calls us to challenge him is in tithing. he says tithe and he will open the windows to heaven and pour out blessings we cannot contain. The parable of the talent comes into play again also. what do you do with what God has given you determines your prosperity.amen

  • "if he be for us,he's not against us". if he preaches the Gospel he's on our side. the bible says "take up the serpent". leave the church alone and go save some souls. the devil has you occupied with your brother when , you should be knowing the devil's ways.

  • @nedmorlef If who be for us? The prosperity preacher?? I am not sure what you mean

  • @traake we shouldn't waste our time fighting each other over doctrinal differences. that's a tool of the devil. "a house divided falls". that's why i no longer subscribe to a division or denomination. i am a bible believing Christian. Let us go into the world and teach the Gospel. God will reveal the wolves. He said leave the tares because you might also uproot the wheat. Warn ppl but, don't waste time fighting a brother that believes but, believes differently. as long as Christ is King.

  • @nedmorlef I see what you mean but Doctrinal differences is what makes Christianty what it is and Mormans and Buddism what it is, Doctine. If there is a difference of doctrine then you and I need to find it out and expose it or you could end up following a false Christ. You must know what you believe and why you believe it. If not then you will list where ever the wind may blow. Stay strong

  • @nedmorlef You see the problem comes in when a brother believes differently sacrificing the truth of the Word of God. That's where one has to draw the line, because God commands us to uphold his commandments if we love him in 1jn 2:4-5. But yes, one must correct a person in love.

  • @nedmorlef Yes, but one needs to know first if a preacher indeed is for us. This we can see by how much he preaches the Word of God as apposed to how much he makes up his own theology.

  • im feeling that!

  • John Tweets? :)

  • As a shepherd of Gods sheep it is his responsibility to name the wolves by name for the sake of Gods elect. If he does not have the courage or knowledge to make this call he needs to make it a point to study these false teachers more closely. It is also the responsibility of the laity to study their bibles to show themselves approved so they can also make this call. Elders that do not warn the sheep are more afraid of men then they are of God.

  • Please Pastor-Let us stand against the church!!

  • Seems like it would be wise to know people who's teachings you should specifically avoid, and if they are truly ruining peoples lives with their false teachings, they have given up any right for social politeness towards their reputation.

  • John MacArthur recently posted a video and he absolutely names names. Quite a few in fact. However, he does so because he IS very familiar with them and their teachings. He had quotes and teachings to back-up what he said about each individual. Having been saved from the Word of Faith movement myself, I believe those who are able to name names should certainly do so. If people didn't name names, some people would not be rescued from their false teachings. But knowing them well is the key.

  • @wheresmylife I would love to see that. Will you please post that link here so we can enjoy it as well? Thanks.

  • @tboyd1542 It's called Lovers of Money. Here's the video: watch?v=ATs1gfTAuQc

  • @wheresmylife I understand your argument, dear saint, however, and please understand that this is only my argument to point and that is all, Piper says in fact we don't know these people in total out look of thier lives and this is true. Do we hear their prayers? Do we see thier heart? Paul says, "Who are you to judge other servents?" If the ministers are living HOLY lives, and has a prayer life that walks with God then the rest is covered by grace as we ALL are; we all have guilt in some way

  • @dogtrauma I understand what you're saying but that's having a soft shoe on sin. To know a prosperity teachers heart, you don't have to hear his private prayer life. We can see their fruit, which IS "knowing them in total." You can't preach the prosperity gospel and be holy or walk with God because the prosperity gospel is NOT the gospel. Scripture says those who preach any other gospel are accursed (Galatians 1:8-9). I was in this so I know these teachers and their teachings well.

  • @wheresmylife Have a link for that video?

  • @wheresmylife You weren't "saved from the Word of Faith" movement. Perhaps you were one of those hanger's-on who was attracted by your own covetousness and when God didn't jump fast enough, you bailed, or perhaps you chose to listen to those who were extreme and didn't faithfully follow the Word. Kenneth Hagin taught accurately and was faithful to the Spirit and the Word and if you rejected Him, you didn't have a good relationship with God.

If that rubs the cat the wrong way let the cat turn..

  • @wheresmylife This post IS A LIE. I heard half of MacArthur's post and it's GARBAGE AND DECEIT. MacArthur is a deceiver. He's not a man of God. There are simply FAR TOO MANY TIMES AND AREAS WHERE HIS COMMENTS SHOW THAT HE DOES NOT KNOW THE WAYS OF THE SPIRIT OF GOD.

iF MacArthur doesn't repent, he's in for a HUGE SHOCK AT THE JUDGMENT SEAT OF CHRIST, when he finds that he's spent DECADES RESISTING GOD AND BADMOUTHING GOD'S MEN.

Paul didn't say, "The doctrines of an apostle were preached..."

  • @911dispatcher YOUR Bible says, For the kingdom of God is not in word but in power. COLLECTIVELY, MacArthur AND Hanegraaff AND Piper don't have enough power to scare a cold away!

THAT'S why they preach a POWERLESS GOSPEL THAT ISN'T IN THE BIBLE!

  • thanks Pastor John for giving some much needed perspective to this issue...

  • I'd like to see John Piper do a video (or sermon) about defending the real gospel from the prosperity gospel.

My problem is that I feel ill-equipped talking to people who idolize the preacher and the theology behind Osteen or Hinn or Copeland or any of the others.

I find it impossible to use the same arguments because the false teachings of these people veer in different directions apart from the prosperity component.

Like John pointed out, I don't know them well enough.

  • Washer does't do that with Rick Warren or Osteen, because he knows that the Holy Spirit should tell us and we'll know.

  • I've heard Washer do it with Osteen.

  • Rightly so although Paul Washer was also talking about God's judgement (the context). Regards.

  • Amen Pastor Piper! But they are wolves

in sheeps clothing going after the new born lambs of God! This is still a wonderful video.

  • <3 John Piper and his humility and great love to exalt the name of the Lord. :)

  • In 2 John, the apostle John warns the church for certain people who come with a false teaching of the Word. He also names them! Great video
