Thank you for making this documentary. It answered many of the questions that I had about what went on. Very informative and well researched. Are you still gathering facts regarding the sociology of it?
@curtisrunstedler The sociology of it? Yes that would be important, especially how it relates to the support Hope and Melinda have received while other more deserving inmates are ignored. The high profile of this crime draws out the “Born Again” do-gooders that have infested our prison system, and has nothing to do with justice. Hope Rippey has benefited immensely for her crimes against Shanda and Steve.
Like in most other brutal murders, a big part of the case remains secret, mostly when convicts have already been sentenced and sentence reduction becomes possible.
Criminals don't want to be trapped in revealing additional aspects of their crimes, they won't talk, they want to be forgotten.
He should have interviewed the girl who participated actively to the murder while she was still in prison.
@EarthSuburb Ok…what is inconsistent? Are you referring to the first half of the video about Shanda’s abduction? What do you know that others do not? And who do you think I should interview since two are still in prison, and two are out?
Shanda was such a pretty, cute girl&the other 4"things" that tortured&killed her were so fucking ugly, hideous inside just like outside. The US have such a harsh prison system,so considering this horrendous, sickening crime,it makes me sick that two of these disgusting things are outside already and the other two will more than likely come out again as well in their life. So many people in the US are sentenced to death when it's not right, but those 4 should have all gone to the gas chamber.
@f3Nja And Hollywood always portrays the attractive teen girl as the evil antisocial type. Fact is, the opposite is mostly true as they have to deal with jealous rumors, hate and discrimination for most of their lives…it is no wonder they are cautious as to who they let get close to them.
@FullMoonVideo i agree. and embarassed to say but i was a beautiful young girl. i was very shy and afraid to let people close to me. it was common for me to be ebat up after school by the big overgrown ugly girls with butch hair and braces. i was once dragged out of the locker room by 4 girls in my under wear and thrown hard on the black top infront of other students out there. girls are extremely mean. i wonder if they ever thought about that when they got older.
@f3Nja "Shanda was such a pretty, cute girl&the other 4"things" that tortured&killed her were so fucking ugly, hideous inside just like outside"..."o many people in the US are sentenced to death when it's not right, but those 4 should have all gone to the gas chamber." - True. So true.
This makes me think of the Sylvia Likens case.Sylvia was tortured by a crazy mother, her brood of children, and neighborhood kids. She suffered for months at the hands of these people and the longest sentence served was 20 years. This was also in Indiana. These girls were never justified it makes a sane person sick to their stomach.....
@mommamissi31 I read about Sylvia Likens. What do you expect from a conservative state, sell pot and get locked up for 50 years, murder someone’s child and they fall all over themselves to set U free, as long as you convert while incarcerated like Hope and Melinda did. Toni never converted and had to serve her full sentence.
@FullMoonVideo Toni Lawrence claimed upon release that she couldnt sto0p it or else she would have been dead herself. the stuff you have been telling me isnt in the books I read. also for Melinda, if you comitte a horendious crime like this, and you get MISREPRESENTED BY COUNSILE , you wont get a sentence reduced. has it ever happened before? the site of MELISSA LOVELESS "FANCLUB"? started by family? Bad taste. They really didnt do anything with the site. i have friends from Indiana.
and another thing that makes me sick is that these *insert expletive here__________* were set free are having kids and able to get a job. You can say that they killed 2 people, Shanda and her Dad!
@ILuvStAugustineFL agreed. wait till their kids find out there mothers are psycho's and killers. how is that going to be healthy for a kid. these B**ch;s should have been given the death penalty. they raped this girl with a tire iron among other brutal things. a monster like that should not have a kid. they raped and murdered a kid.
cannot understand HOW these judges sleep at night to allow Hope Rippey and Toni Lawrence and Karla Holmolka FREEDOM after the lives they VICIOUSLY stole from not only their victims but every family member involved... it's a travesty of justice in each of these cases. I hope THE JUDGES burn in hell... both countries judicial systems are a JOKE.
@z0mb1ek1ller999 Yep, go to Indiana and commit the most horrendous high profile crime you can think of and the religious politicians will fall over themselves to save your soul and influence your release. Find you a job and stalk, harass, slander and threaten anyone who disagrees with them…did I mention the FREE college education?
To be fair, the honorable Judge Todd told Melinda to go to hell when she tried to be set free, and had nothing to do with Hope's release.
Shanda Sharer’s mother and sister Paije will be on Dr Phil on Friday the 20th. They will appear again on Monday the 23rd and confront one of Shanda’s killers. I wonder who it will be, Toni or Hope?
You have made an excellent documentary Sir. I purchased Cruel Sacrifice years ago and had to stop reading it because it just broke my heart for little Shanda. I recently watched part 1 of Dr. Phil and do believe that Hope is the one who going to be on part 2. Do you plan to do more documentary films like this?
@ILuvStAugustineFL Yes, Hope will be on with Jacque and Paije and Amanda alone with Dr. Phil. There may be more of the interview with Laurie from prison. Laurie dropped her witchcraft crap and joined in with the Christians the moment Hope was released…so what does that tell us?
@saturninesmile I’m still very much considering it since Hope and her reentry friends have slandered and threatened me. One involved with the justice dept threatened to have my DNA show up at a murder scene.
@FullMoonVideo Arent these killers out on parole and if they screw up can be put back in? Cant beleive they are out without some chance of having to serve the rest because of more crimes.
@34sunbunpart2 Dr Phil was wrong by classifying both Toni and Hope as being released early. Toni actually did all her time. Toni was sentenced to 20 and did 9, in Indiana one receives a day credited for every good day served. So Toni’s 20 was really 10 with good behavior. Both Jacque and Steve knew this when they agreed with the deal. Toni got some time off for continuing her education as to why she did 9. Now Hope is another story…
@alphafirstoneyou Lets see, Hope Rippey and her employer Teresa Black of the Sleepy Hollow Pet Ranch who sticks up for Hope constantly, to name just two. The religious fanatical Marion County politician who helped Hope to be released…and her husband who helped Hope to be removed from the Indiana violent offenders registry…shall I go on? The last two waited like vultures for Steve to die so they could kick their plan in gear. unless it was their child that Hope helped to slaughter
those girls who did this crime deserves to be behind bars and throw the keys away. poor Shanda. they might got away with this on earth but they haven't got away with it with God. If I were them I be more than scared.
@rockstarofredondoToni was released after 9 years of her 20-year sentence, and Hope after 13 years of her 50-year sentence. Indiana has a policy of one day deducted off one’s sentence for every good day served. So Toni did most all her time but Hope should have served at least 25 years with good behavior. Some politically connected religious group that enters the prison felt sorry for Hope and helped her to be released early,No doubt breaking some laws.
@FullMoonVideo Ludicrous. It's not like they were 8 year olds. They were practically adults at the point that they participated in this. I am not one to believe that prison is the solution to crime, but what about some kind of restitution. Nothing at all. What a shameful story.
@rockstarofredondo There are some people who belong in prison, and this is why we have them. They usually show their criminal activities at a young age and these girls qualify. Were not talking mischief here like stealing a car or doing drugs…torture and murder of an innocent child. More like the Manson girls, a predisposition for murder.
Oh yeah- about the injury to the dog, I wonder if he tried 2 protect Shanda if they forced her into the car, so one of those douchebags hurt him 2 get him 2 stop. Well, what the hell. They might as well just throw in some animal abuse there to make the night complete...
@nightshaye Dogs have an amazing sense of danger, I think the whole story of Shanda willingly entering the car is bullshit, created when all the girls got together at Hope’s house after Toni heard while at work that her body was found. The dog probably witnessed Shanda’s abduction and chased the car. Jacque and Steve felt strongly that Shanda was abducted and there is much evidence to this, Shanda had no coat on such a cold night and all the girls were dressed for the weather.
Another clue is when Hope and Laurie went to Shanda’s door to lie to her again, Laurie leaves before Hope and waits outside the car. Why did Laurie not enter the car if Shanda knew she was going for a ride, and NOT expecting to meet Amanda right there in the car. To ambush her with Hope and force her into the car is what we all think.
What another loss. And he was a happy guy! On top of the unbearable grief 4 Shanda, his perception of the world had 2 change a 180 to dark, despairing + full of cruelty. I imagine he'd b relieved 2 find out he had cancer- I wd 've been. Also wonder if he even bothered 2 treat it- sure hope he had loving ppl around. Her mom must b made of iron. Mere words fail. 2 say all 4 girls r violently selfish cowards is an understatement @ best
@nightshaye It hit Shanda’s mother early as she considered suicide before the trial, but went to receive help, where she met her present husband. These girls as well as other teens do not know the damage they inflict to everyone around such an event…they live in a bubble. I can assure you Hope Rippey hates this video as she does not want to acknowledge she also caused Steve’s death.
@Nefus1988 No...probably the Rippey and Loveless supporters who waited like vultures until Steve Sharer passed away before they secretly contributed to Hopes release and Melinda’s attempt. One of them has posted at another site that Shanda deserved to die for sneaking out of the house. Typical psychotic excuse...blame the victim!
These evil girls (its not even worth calling them girls) should be brutally punished, same way they did to our little angel Shanda. As these bitches, no matter how innocent they may look or say... killed not one person but two. Father and his darln daughter. This is too too sad to watch. And that witches dungeon, etc looks darn spooky... :(
I used to think that being possessed by the devil meant a person would have to behaved like Linda Blair in the movie "The Exorcist"! It's so Not true. The world is filled with Evil, or the Devil.
It has been proven that some people have a predisposition for violence from birth, it is how ones brain is wired. Some can be cured with drugs, others cannot.
@FullMoonVideo LOL I went a little over the top with my comment ( I was just pissed) and yes it's true that they are mentally ill. People must read my comment and think Now there's a religious fanatic. Sorry people. I should think before typing.
@hfish83 "it's amazing that a perfect stranger would care enough to search for the truth!" - I should do this with Mitrice Richardson...someday. Look her up.
Excellent job on this case and story. I had not heard of this particular case and it's just horrifying what these girls did to this precious child. I hope they get their justice oneday and my heart goes out to Shanda's mother, family and friends! May she rest in peace!
wow you did a great job on this horrible story,it reminds me of another teen love triangle murder story from afew years back, that story was 2 gay teen girls and a straight boy teen and when one of the girls started messing around with the boy,the spurnned girl murdered the other girl at a tacobell packing lot in daylight in the car, they too tried to burn the body but ended up cutting it up and leaving pieces all over a park down in the sewers-to you remember that case?
I seen a program about that on one of the true crime TV shows, after they tried to burn the girl they called another friend to cut her up…and he did. WTF is wrong with people?
This girl was already dead when they tried to burn her, where as in Shanda’s case she was very much alive.
I read about this story years ago and I wondered how soon they would be released. It is shocking that two of them are now free. One wonders how Shanda feels about that. One thing is certain, those who killed Shanda will have to live with that memory the rest of their lives and that too is a punishment.
@Adinax86 They would have been charged with something harsher than criminal confinement, thus their sentencing would have been longer and Hope Rippey would not be walking the streets and having someone cyberstalk me on the Internet. Melinda would not had tried to be released clogging up the court system and no doubt Tackett would be serving life without parole…It makes a difference.
@FullMoonVideo gimme the address of all these gals.. i live in india, but wud like to travel all the way to U.S to slap all of them.nasty bitches, how much sadness they gave to shanda's family..shame on all these gal's parents to have brought up these gals widout teaching them kindness...So dear viewers, lets teach ourselves kindness first than knowledge...Lets do our best to prevent murders...
What a tragedy for Steve Sharer. I agree with you Full Moon, that he died of a broken heart, plain and simple.
The animalistic Melinda Loveless can add another murder to her accomplishments. She can't be tried or accused of murdering Stever Sharer, but that does not mean that she is not 100% guilty for his death.
It may not be today; it may not be tomorrow. But Melinda Loveless' actions will catch up with her. There is a higher justice than those of this world.
I have the actual book about this twisted story. These women r murderers....There is no way they should b released after this horrific crime!! I don't understand how the system let these murderers walk the streets after taking a person's life the way they did. These women r heartless(Loveless, perfect name) How can these women live with themselves after something so cruel? I don't feel sorry 4 them and their past, not @ all.No excuses...They were ultimately wrong and should the b punished dearly.
Plus Hope has a BA, all paid for by the state, and a decent job as a manager. How many of you young people have student loans to pay for and are still looking for work?
@FullMoonVideo That is seriously hard to accept. And yes, I'm one of those who have student loans that are plaguing me. But Ms Rippey was treated to a free college education. She SHOULD have been given the death penalty, along with her other cohorts, but she gets a free education. Nice.
One thing I am glad about, is how Rippey and Loveless smiled for the cameras for their arrest mug shots. Those pictures will forever define them and identify them on the internet.
Ever since I saw this first aired on American Justice with Bill Curtis it has haunted me, and I was enraged to learn that Indiana's law gave leniency by reducing these monsters' sentences for every year served. The documentary is kind in that it keeps this horror story current. Whether or not they all get out, they will never have peace as long as this story perpetuates. Thanks for the good work -- now, get some sleep and get a shave, handsome.
She could do the world a huge favor by blowing her brains out because not only is not worth being on earth she is not worth being a mother. She has not paid her debt to society and she should be where most want her to be in prison rotting until she takes her last breath
I went to that bitch page and how dare she can put a plastic smile on her face as though she has been walking the straight path since day one. don't wish anything bad to happen to anyone kids but it would be good to see the panic and grief when your child is missing just as the Sharer's had to go through but I wish her pain was 10 times as theirs. For her to sit and say she is happy with her life make me sick to my stomach considering poor Shanda never had a chance to say the same thing.
I ended up reading about this story and was doing research when I came across your videos. It was absolutely atrocious what was done to that poor girl. I vaguely remember hearing something about it, back then but just now have found out more of what happened. Thanks for your work on this. I can't seem to find that thread on Topix. Did it get pulled down? If not could you post a direct link somewhere? Have you read the interview with Tackett on Indianapolis Woman's site?
The topix threads were pulled down by someone who was stalking me there and in the real world. We all wrote topix and they did nothing, for some reason I believe they were involved...screw topix
You have to wonder how the 4 girls sleep at night. I truely hope they are in thier own torture, for the rest of thier lives. It has become a cruel world with the monsters that walk among us in society.
Just so everyone knows...Toni Lawrence is now Toni Parker on Facebook...she got married...has a ton of pics on there having a great time...even some from prison that she is trying to pass off as normal pics. So glad she has a wonderful life now...and yes I am being sarcastic. Looks like she has two girls of her own...wonder if she can relate to Shanda's mother now that she is one.
@ktykatbrat she should be sterilized cant think of the crap her kids will have to endure because of her and her proud ways. how does she explain that to her kids? "oh just had a bitchy day that day and got involved with some murder of a twelve year old kinda like your age honey."
@Seigu007 What are you talking about, I came to shoot video of the locations…that I did. Talking to the girls was an option that just came up after I was there, not a necessity.
Loveless may still be proud now but wait until fate catches up with her, life has an awful way of coming back atcha looking for attonement & boy! will Tacket & Loveless ever learn their lesson then !! My great grandma used to say when somebody had done a bad deed that God may be slow but He is sure......... I wouldn't want to be them when the surety comes
It is truely one of the sadest stories I have ever encountered. Such sensless and unnecesarry.
Both Shanda and her dad should have been alive today. He would have been 57 years old and she would have been 31 both young and with lives ahead of them.
@whitedomination Yesvery sad and entirely preventable. Steve Sharer is yet another victim of this crime.
I will say that Im glad of the new bullying laws they have past because bullying had much to do with this case. Amanda bullied Shanda into a relationship, Melinda who was much older bullied both Amanda and Shanda. Hope and Laurie were both made fun of at school and were judged on their looks and family wealth.
@whitedomination As for Tony, she was afraid for more than just her own safety that night, she was aware of the reach that Laurie had with her group of friends and apparently she was right. Laurie and Melindas friends were on their way to kill Tonys parents while Tony was in jail, but turned back at the last minute.
I think those two girls are safer inside prison- as I see it, we will take into consideration these women NEVER HAVE A NORMAL LIFE- EVER, THIS IS HORRID, UNACCEPTABLE AND TIME TO START BEATING ON THE JUDICIAL SYSTEMS DOOR! I just came across this case and am sickened to know this happened here in Indiana!!!!
@nycjersey29 you don't know what you're talking about. i had the opportunity to meet and interview Melinda just last week for a video we are producing. she's grown tremendously as a person. people change. if you're interested you can see the preview for the documentary. google Charlie's Scars, the movie title.
@e11studios2 This comment can lead one to believe that a line was crossed between non-objective observation and an intended results. Or you may have discovered something real and worth pointing out. Where you posted and what type of post you responded too is of interest.
You have apparently been following this subject here and reading many of the comments and you should know how this film may be interpreted as propaganda for Melinda, Hope, and the dog program they attended. The people who stalk and slander us have made the same claims…and people think she may be making another attempt at freedom, with the help of an unknown entity.
@e11studios2 That Charlie Scars guy sound like a really stand-up guy,LOL. The Bank he worked for, Wachovia, was found guilty of laundering drug money, helping criminals who con the elderly out of their savings, and received all kinds of taxpayer bailout money that the managers like Charlie cut themselves huge bonuses from. More like he started this charitable organization specifically to make a video about Melinda and cash in!
She said she hates Hope for leaving with her when she wanted to but said that she believes if they had left then no one might not know what had happened to Shanda. I think she might publicly speak. Not sure. Just she mentioned she only speaks about it if it's front of a group of kids. I really do believe she was a frightened child that night. But she was held responsible for being there. She was just at the wrong place, wrong time. That is justice. I would have left Hope there! RIP Shanda!
That right there told me that her failing the lie detector tests are correct. She's not telling the full 100% truth. She is leaving facts out. She said she thinks about Shanda everyday and said she tried to get Hope to leave with her but she wouldn't and she wouldn't leave hope there. I guess she didn't trust the other two girls. She was a terrified girl that night and she was afraid the other two would kill her and possibly hope if they tried to stop it.
polygraphs are unreliable or they would use them in court as evidence...much is interpreted by the person giving them. stress can also add to the unreliability...
I do think she is leaving some fact out about the logging trail and how the limestone dust was present on Shanda's feet. ...
But then again, the dust could have gotten there when Melinda and Laurie took Shanda for that fateful ride
Ugh this had be bawling like a baby. Shanda was so beautiful and I always check up on anything knew about her case and it hits me that no matter what, it won't bring her back then I get sad all over again. I wish we could bring her back. I so wish we could. I have personally on MySpace spoke with Tony and I really do believe she regrets that night although she didn't take any responsibility for the fact she should have got help at the station. She then said that no one knows all the facts.
really great series. as i watched the first part i thought, " oh god, this guy needs 2 things. more marlboros, and to stand back from the mic." i still believe those things. however
i was continually impressed by his increasing involvement into what happened to that poor girl, and a real commitment to getting the story out. i was especially moved about the dog, and the no winter coat, and etc. good work. almost made me cry
Okay so what PISSES me off is the fact that Toni has been allowed to have children. She is a convicted murderer. What gives her the right to have a child when she took the life of another child. What gives her the right to live a normal happy life when Shanda can not? She may not have been as involved in the murder or the beatings, but she was there which makes her just as guilty as Laurie and Melinda. As is Hope. And Toni living in back in the same town that is just down right disrespectful.
we have to forgive? what are you made of? plastic?
have a heart
certain things are beyond forgiveness.
and forgiveness is ONLY given to those who seek it.
especially as melinda is STILL proud of what she did, as is laurie tacket- fullmoonvideo is right. it is self pity she has and NOT remorse, you say we should forgive them?
justice has NOT been served +you say we should forgive ?
i hope you rot in hell as youre just as pathetic an excuse 4 a human being as these murderers
@labslaloo im sorry, i dont even know what to say or write anymore. i do, really, understand ur feeling and opinion. but dont curse me kuz i didnt do or say anything against u. im just asking honnestly, if u are a mom and u daughter did murder someone and so proud of the act. will u act the same way how u are now. if your answer is yes, i will still accept it.
Yeah you're right. They said suicide in another documentary but when I read about the case on criminal library I realized that he tried a few times to kill himself but failed, then died of alcoholism later on. My bad.
Hmm I don't remember really. It was kind of "home made".
There seems to be many versions of this story actually, it's kind of confusing from time to time.
Though I just read the entire case on crime library, and this one seems to be fairly accurate. It's said that Shanda's father died of cancer at 53. Seems like he drank himself to death alright...
That part about the dog waiting for her is heartbreaking. The whole story is horrible, but that part caught me...I think the only suitable punishment for those cold blooded murderes is to feel the exact amount of pain they caused their poor helpless victim. It's beyond belief such evil can exist but unfortunatly it does. gives me the chill.
What happened to Shanda back in 1992 was so horrible that I don't blame Steve for becoming an alcoholic and subsequently drinking himself to death. I have a daughter and if anything horrible like what happened to Shanda happened to my little girl I don't know what I would do to maintain my normal life. I would like to think of Steve and Shanda as being the happiest they've ever been now being reunited together in Heaven.
@HoldOnToYourDream I don't have a daughter but if I did and something like that happend to her. I would likely jump up from my table in court and try my best to get to the deffendant's table to try and get my hands on the people and hurt them.....
@ThaOneChrisJONES Yep, and this is why the religious cult that enters the prisons in Indianapolis waited like vultures for Steve Sharer to die before they started to push to have these girls released. Steve Sharer dies in 2005, Hope is released is 2006, and Melinda tries in 2007. This is no accident.
@ThaOneChrisJONES you have to be with a girl to have a daughter...this rules out cocksucking fucking faggots like you...now go play with your pokemon toys at recess...hahahahahahhaa...Pokemon...lol
@YouSeemReallyCool LOL ! I guess we don't have to worry about your retarded inbred genes being passed on then. You know... with you being a cock sucking, Youtube stalker with no life and all.
Mark, I think you would appreciate the play EQUUS by Peter Schaffer. I am so gld I saw it although it was difficult to watch. IT brings home much about the nature of disturbed individuals who drastically act out displaced anger and perform horrific crimes. We need to watch dog and treat anti social behavior before crimes are committed not after. Abuse is never acceptable and somehow these girls grew p believing it was ok.
Thanks for the information and I will look into this play...and YES these things need to be addressed before a crime is committed...just the other day four teen boys in Florida tried to burn to death a school mate
Hey VG, great work on this video. This story has consumed me for this whole past weekend (i heard about it years ago but just now researched it) and found all the info that you and others like Sue have contribute and read almost all the messages on Topix board with H_anna (what a piece of work she is). I, like you think she is full of shit and trying to act like it was a result of just peer pressure. I believe all 4 girls should be tried for DOUBLE MURDER with the passing of Steve Sharer.
Hope is trying to lesson her involvement now that the world knows and she out amongst us...I guess anyone would do that but it does not help to resolve the issue of "WHY"
Thanks for watching and posting words of encouragement.
Why does it matter whether or not she went willingly? I think it's entirely possible she went along thinking she was just going to hang out with some cool older people. That doesn't make what those evil girls did to her any less horrible.
It make all the difference in the world...it means Shanda was cautious and suspicious about the older girls at her door at midnight. It means Toni witnessed this and may have played a larger role, like pretending to be Amanda to lour Shanda closer to the car...and most of all it would have made a difference in sentencing, Hope, Laurie, and Melinda would all have received... "LIFE"
No movie but the program "Deadly Woman" did a show segment about this crime.
Poorly done I might add, they mispronounced Shanda's name throughout the program even though they had video of Shanda's mother pronouncing it properly.
The segment was produced in Australia...I guess to save money. The girls who played Melinda and Shanda have sent me messages
I agree with that statement. Is there a petition circulating in protest of Tacket and Lovelace's release??? If there is...I would love to sign it! If not, we could possibly start our own and you could help feature it in a video. Thank you...
There was an Internet petition in regards to the Loveless release that was sent to Judge Todd. Todd ruled against Melinda being released early. I don't think Tackett is even trying to be released, I have also read that she has cancer...I can't think of anyone more deserving of such horrible suffering.
I totally agree with that statement. You know...I heard the same thing about Tackett. Well, did you hear about that in the topix forum? That's where I heard it. Then someone who claimed to be the bunkmate of Tackett and a close friend, said that it is not the case.
I also heard that Tackett is not trying to get released from one source but another source claims that she is trying to get released and both sources exclaims that she is very remorseful.
Well of course the later thing that you said, about the self pity is always in question. I truely believe that all these girls should have gotten the death penalty and the cause of their death should have been what they did to poor Shanda. My heart goes out to the family of this girl.
There was another video titled as part five and this one was part six. I removed the actual part five and renamed this one as five...but did not re edit it.
The book, Little Lost Angel, really bothered me. If I had been her father I would have drank too. What those monsters did to Shanda was so horrific none of them should have ever gotten out of prison.
Poor Mr. Sharer. There was no way to prepare a child for that. It's customary to expect violence from a male. But, four girls? I hope he's a rest, now. WIth Shanda.
This should have ended like the film "In The Bedroom," about a doctor and his wife whose only child is murdered. The doctor and his ex-navy friend abduct the killer, shoot, and bury him in the quiet woods of Maine.
I came across this story tonight, but interesting enough I was living in the area and had a sister-in-law from Madison. I feel like I must have been in a cave to have missed such a tale of cruelty that must have garnered plenty of airtime in the Louisville area. Plus, I had never heard of the Witches' castle either. I can only plea I had a 3 month old and was working long and nightly hours at University Hospital. But I agree... the father was definitely a victim.
Being away over in Scotland I had never heard of this tragic case until recently. I bought the book Cruel Sacrifice and have been doing some reading on the net. These videos are excellent - well done. I have a young daughter and could never imagine how I could go on if I were to lose her, especiallly in such shocking circumstances. Is there anywhere I can find updates of the guilty girls, I understand at least 1 is now free!
Two are free, Toni Lawrence and Hope Rippey, I tried to speak to both of them in my videos.
Toni lives in Madison and works at a manufacturing plant that makes automobile parts, located on the north side of Madison. She has two children, a girl age 6 and a boy, age 3 or 4.
Hope lives in Indianapolis and works as a manager of a pet care business. She was posting in a TOPIX forum under her name as the threads title, but has since stopped posting.
This has been flagged as spam show
Go to type trutv.com and type in Melinda Loveless. Hope and Toni were more involved than is written. They all are equally guilty.

So many people in the US are sentenced to death when it's not right, but those 4 should have all gone to the gas chamber.
f3Nja 7 months ago 3
@f3Nja And Hollywood always portrays the attractive teen girl as the evil antisocial type. Fact is, the opposite is mostly true as they have to deal with jealous rumors, hate and discrimination for most of their lives…it is no wonder they are cautious as to who they let get close to them.
FullMoonVideo 7 months ago
@FullMoonVideo i agree. and embarassed to say but i was a beautiful young girl. i was very shy and afraid to let people close to me. it was common for me to be ebat up after school by the big overgrown ugly girls with butch hair and braces. i was once dragged out of the locker room by 4 girls in my under wear and thrown hard on the black top infront of other students out there. girls are extremely mean. i wonder if they ever thought about that when they got older.

This makes me think of the Sylvia Likens case.Sylvia was tortured by a crazy mother, her brood of children, and neighborhood kids. She suffered for months at the hands of these people and the longest sentence served was 20 years. This was also in Indiana. These girls were never justified it makes a sane person sick to their stomach.....
mommamissi31 8 months ago

Bad taste. They really didnt do anything with the site. i have friends from Indiana.

cannot understand HOW these judges sleep at night to allow Hope Rippey and Toni Lawrence and Karla Holmolka FREEDOM after the lives they VICIOUSLY stole from not only their victims but every family member involved... it's a travesty of justice in each of these cases. I hope THE JUDGES burn in hell... both countries judicial systems are a JOKE.

To be fair, the honorable Judge Todd told Melinda to go to hell when she tried to be set free, and had nothing to do with Hope's release.

ILuvStAugustineFL 9 months ago
@ILuvStAugustineFL Yes, Hope will be on with Jacque and Paije and Amanda alone with Dr. Phil. There may be more of the interview with Laurie from prison. Laurie dropped her witchcraft crap and joined in with the Christians the moment Hope was released…so what does that tell us?

34sunbunpart2 9 months ago
@34sunbunpart2 Dr Phil was wrong by classifying both Toni and Hope as being released early. Toni actually did all her time. Toni was sentenced to 20 and did 9, in Indiana one receives a day credited for every good day served. So Toni’s 20 was really 10 with good behavior. Both Jacque and Steve knew this when they agreed with the deal. Toni got some time off for continuing her education as to why she did 9. Now Hope is another story…

I can't believe these girls got released! After how many years?
rockstarofredondo 11 months ago
@rockstarofredondoToni was released after 9 years of her 20-year sentence, and Hope after 13 years of her 50-year sentence. Indiana has a policy of one day deducted off one’s sentence for every good day served. So Toni did most all her time but Hope should have served at least 25 years with good behavior. Some politically connected religious group that enters the prison felt sorry for Hope and helped her to be released early,No doubt breaking some laws.
FullMoonVideo 11 months ago
@FullMoonVideo Ludicrous. It's not like they were 8 year olds. They were practically adults at the point that they participated in this. I am not one to believe that prison is the solution to crime, but what about some kind of restitution. Nothing at all. What a shameful story.
rockstarofredondo 11 months ago
@rockstarofredondo There are some people who belong in prison, and this is why we have them. They usually show their criminal activities at a young age and these girls qualify. Were not talking mischief here like stealing a car or doing drugs…torture and murder of an innocent child. More like the Manson girls, a predisposition for murder.

nightshaye 1 year ago
@nightshaye Dogs have an amazing sense of danger, I think the whole story of Shanda willingly entering the car is bullshit, created when all the girls got together at Hope’s house after Toni heard while at work that her body was found. The dog probably witnessed Shanda’s abduction and chased the car. Jacque and Steve felt strongly that Shanda was abducted and there is much evidence to this, Shanda had no coat on such a cold night and all the girls were dressed for the weather.
FullMoonVideo 1 year ago 3
Another clue is when Hope and Laurie went to Shanda’s door to lie to her again, Laurie leaves before Hope and waits outside the car. Why did Laurie not enter the car if Shanda knew she was going for a ride, and NOT expecting to meet Amanda right there in the car. To ambush her with Hope and force her into the car is what we all think.
FullMoonVideo 1 year ago
What another loss. And he was a happy guy! On top of the unbearable grief 4 Shanda, his perception of the world had 2 change a 180 to dark, despairing + full of cruelty. nightshaye 1 year ago

I seen a program about that on one of the true crime TV shows, after they tried to burn the girl they called another friend to cut her up…and he did. WTF is wrong with people?
This girl was already dead when they tried to burn her, where as in Shanda’s case she was very much alive.
Thanks for the positive comment on the videos

I read about this story years ago and I wondered how soon they would be released. It is shocking that two of them are now free. One wonders how Shanda feels about that. One thing is certain, those who killed Shanda will have to live with that memory the rest of their lives and that too is a punishment.

@Adinax86 They would have been charged with something harsher than criminal confinement, thus their sentencing would have been longer and Hope Rippey would not be walking the streets and having someone cyberstalk me on the Internet.

@FullMoonVideo That is seriously hard to accept. And yes, I'm one of those who have student loans that are plaguing me. But Ms Rippey was treated to a free college education. She SHOULD have been given the death penalty, along with her other cohorts, but she gets a free education. Nice.

Ever since I saw this first aired on American Justice with Bill Curtis it has haunted me, and I was enraged to learn that Indiana's law gave leniency by reducing these monsters' sentences for every year served.
FullMoonVideo 1 year ago
@whitedomination As for Tony, she was afraid for more than just her own safety that night, she was aware of the reach that Laurie had with her group of friends and apparently she was right. for not leaving with her****
starlitkate 2 years ago
She said she hates Hope for leaving with her when she wanted to but said that she believes if they had left then no one might not know what had happened to Shanda. I think she might publicly speak. Not sure. Just she mentioned she only speaks about it if it's front of a group of kids. I really do believe she was a frightened child that night. But she was held responsible for being there. She was just at the wrong place, wrong time. That is justice. I would have left Hope there! RIP Shanda!
starlitkate 2 years ago
That right there told me that her failing the lie detector tests are correct. She's not telling the full 100% truth. She is leaving facts out. She said she thinks about Shanda everyday and said she tried to get Hope to leave with her but she wouldn't and she wouldn't leave hope there. I guess she didn't trust the other two girls. She was a terrified girl that night and she was afraid the other two would kill her and possibly hope if they tried to stop it.
starlitkate 2 years ago
polygraphs are unreliable or they would use them in court as evidence...much is interpreted by the person giving them. stress can also add to the unreliability...
I do think she is leaving some fact out about the logging trail and how the limestone dust was present on Shanda's feet. ...
But then again, the dust could have gotten there when Melinda and Laurie took Shanda for that fateful ride
FullMoonVideo 2 years ago
Ugh this had be bawling like a baby. Shanda was so beautiful and I always check up on anything knew about her case and it hits me that no matter what, it won't bring her back then I get sad all over again. I have personally on MySpace spoke with Tony and I really do believe she regrets that night although she didn't take any responsibility for the fact she should have got help at the station. She then said that no one knows all the facts.

Yeah you're right. They said suicide in another documentary but when I read about the case on criminal library I realized that he tried a few times to kill himself but failed, then died of alcoholism later on. My bad.
guntherbladderburst 2 years ago
What other documentary?? I have not seen this one that speaks of Shanda's father
FullMoonVideo 2 years ago
Hmm I don't remember really. It was kind of "home made".
There seems to be many versions of this story actually, it's kind of confusing from time to time.
Though I just read the entire case on crime library, and this one seems to be fairly accurate. It's said that Shanda's father died of cancer at 53. Seems like he drank himself to death alright...

these four girls are pieces of shit. I believe some of them have been released. WATCH OUT!!!! RUN if you see any of them!

i hope these girls got life without parole.....I don't believe in death penalty but the should never be allowed out.....
66kompis 2 years ago
Two of them are out already
FullMoonVideo 2 years ago
We should set up a petition to put them back behind bars again! Better yet the death penalty!

There is a judgement, greater than ours. These girls will burn, like they' ve burned the little girl. Burn in hell!

Oh my goodness people are evil and to know that kids are like this is sad.

God bless Steve and Shanda Sharer.

@HoldOnToYourDream I don't have a daughter but if I did and something like that happend to her. I would likely jump up from my table in court and try my best to get to the deffendant's table to try and get my hands on the people and hurt them.....
ThaOneChrisJONES 11 months ago
@ThaOneChrisJONES Yep, and this is why the religious cult that enters the prisons in Indianapolis waited like vultures for Steve Sharer to die before they started to push to have these girls released. Steve Sharer dies in 2005, Hope is released is 2006, and Melinda tries in 2007. This is no accident.
FullMoonVideo 11 months ago

Abuse is never acceptable and somehow these girls grew p believing it was ok.
akmediascope 2 years ago 2
Thanks for the information and I will look into this play...and YES these things need to be addressed before a crime is committed...just the other day four teen boys in Florida tried to burn to death a school mate

Hey VG, great work on this video. This story has consumed me for this whole past weekend (i heard about it years ago but just now researched it) and found all the info that you and others like Sue have contribute and read almost all the messages on Topix board with H_anna (what a piece of work she is). I, like you think she is full of shit and trying to act like it was a result of just peer pressure. I believe all 4 girls should be tried for DOUBLE MURDER with the passing of Steve Sharer.
nighthawk584 2 years ago
Hope is trying to lesson her involvement now that the world knows and she out amongst us...I guess anyone would do that but it does not help to resolve the issue of "WHY"
Thanks for watching and posting words of encouragement.
FullMoonVideo 2 years ago
Why does it matter whether or not she went willingly? I think it's entirely possible she went along thinking she was just going to hang out with some cool older people. That doesn't make what those evil girls did to her any less horrible.
Doofie456 2 years ago
It make all the difference in the world...it means Shanda was cautious and suspicious about the older girls at her door at midnight. It means Toni witnessed this and may have played a larger role, like pretending to be Amanda to lour Shanda closer to the car...and most of all it would have made a difference in sentencing, Hope, Laurie, and Melinda would all have received... "LIFE"
FullMoonVideo 2 years ago
I read the book on this and those people needed to be locked up for life,,, 2 of then are already out and need to be locked away forever

Did they ever made a movie based on Shanda's sad story?
oneunknowngirl 2 years ago

FullMoonVideo 2 years ago
I totally agree with that statement. You know...I heard the same thing about Tackett. Well, did you hear about that in the topix forum? That's where I heard it. Then someone who claimed to be the bunkmate of Tackett and a close friend, said that it is not the case.
I also heard that Tackett is not trying to get released from one source but another source claims that she is trying to get released and both sources exclaims that she is very remorseful.
I cannot believe that she exists.
TheCephalizedOne 2 years ago
I don't think there is any question weather or not Tackett has cancer, I think the argument is what type of cancer she has.
Don't mistake remorse for self pity...that is what Laurie is about
FullMoonVideo 2 years ago
Well of course the later thing that you said, about the self pity is always in question. I truely believe that all these girls should have gotten the death penalty and the cause of their death should have been what they did to poor Shanda. My heart goes out to the family of this girl.
TheCephalizedOne 2 years ago 2
I'm a little confused. This is supposed to be Part 5, but the opening credits say Part 6.
mafaldacrumbwitty 2 years ago
There was another video titled as part five and this one was part six. I removed the actual part five and renamed this one as five...but did not re edit it.

The book, Little Lost Angel, really bothered me. If I had been her father I would have drank too. What those monsters did to Shanda was so horrific none of them should have ever gotten out of prison.
sueishere25 2 years ago 3
Poor Mr. Sharer. There was no way to prepare a child for that. It's customary to expect violence from a male. But, four girls? I hope he's a rest, now. WIth Shanda.
mafaldacrumbwitty 2 years ago 4

But I agree... the father was definitely a victim.
ibotter4real 2 years ago
They said this case received national attention but I don't remember hearing about it either.
After I read the book some five years later I recalled hearing something about the sentencing of one of the girls.
I don't watch much TV anyway is my excuse.

Is there anywhere I can find updates of the guilty girls, I understand at least 1 is now free!
scottishbabes 2 years ago
Two are free, Toni Lawrence and Hope Rippey, I tried to speak to both of them in my videos.
Toni lives in Madison and works at a manufacturing plant that makes automobile parts, located on the north side of Madison. She has two children, a girl age 6 and a boy, age 3 or 4.
Hope lives in Indianapolis and works as a manager of a pet care business. She was posting in a TOPIX forum under her name as the threads title, but has since stopped posting.
