It's possible to fly as a armature, if you live near Oshawa they have a program where they will take off then level and once your level your allowed to fly for a good 2 hours

@filipe3441 As you noticed, his runway was pretty long and those planes take-off by themselves at 60 kias or so, so you can certainly do without flaps. But the common sense is that 10 degrees wouldn't hurt.

Five friends of mine can fly airplane. There is only one lady among them. She flies private airplanes for clients. One's grandfather was a member of flying tigers served in China during the war against Japan. I flied a few times with them . It is quite a different experience compared to flying commercial jets. With much slower speed and much lower altitude, you can truly enjoy the view of the world from the sky. It is a long and painful process to get a flight license though.

@chiggero actually, in the UK. there is no lower age limit on what you can learn to fly at, Aslong as you can reach and understand the controlles, HOWEVER you cant log hours towards your JAR-PPL licence till 14. i started at 14, 10 years ago and i now hold a ATPL flying for a air taxi company that does organ transplant flights around europe and far. good luck bassplayer1o1

@orbits2 Depends upon the plane's characteristics, length of the runway, obstacles you must safely clear, the weather, the load, etc. Some pilots fly the same airplane from the same airport with the same load everytime they fly, so they get used to performing the same type of takeoff with the same settings. I have seen near-mishaps due to habituation. One pilot took three passengers on a hot day with no flaps when he usually flies alone. He cleared the trees downwind by about 5 feet...
