Without taking anything away from David, I really think he was a little carried away in his comments and Simon was actually right. We all know it's pretty much about winning America over not the judges, but Simon's was only a opinion, and who better to know the rules of the competition than the founder/inventor? This was definitely one of his best performances of the season...he rocked the heck out of it!!! Simon is totally full of s**t. And part of the reason we love David is that he is SMART and soooooo not boring and sooooooooo full of charisma!!!

I was yelling at the TV when Big Mike did Eleanor Rigby because that was the song that really got me to notice David and Big Mike's version wasn't anywhere in the same ballpark as David's. I love David's version and I loved how excited he was after his performance.

This is the performance that sold me! I remember thinking he was the only one with any stage presence at all besides being soooooo wicked hot! I love this guy.
Simon was just about to make a compliment when David interrupted him. I think Simon was about to say David would have to rely on his talent because he lacked charisma. Not that David had no charisma at that point, he had a lot of it. But he learned his lesson and took whatever criticism from the judges to make himself a better performer, and of all the AI contestants that season, it was actually David who got the most respect from Simon in the end.

Wow... two year ago, when he was saying those big words around 0:16, I had no idea what any of those words meant. Now looking back at it, I know what all of those words mean... lol
I still laugh out loud when Simon said he had no charisma. Hell, it was David describing himself as a word nerd that made me totally fall in love! And seeing this performance again, we see the seeds of his great talent and showmanship that we saw all throughout the Declaration Tour 2009.

He may not be a legendary guitarist, but I don't think he's so bad to qualify as a poser. If I remember correctly he's got some pretty sweet licks in his album Analog Heart. Plus, I absolutely disagree with Simon! He was probably the most charismatic player in the game that season. The boy's got styleee. Don't hate on the word nerd ;)

His album went platinum in < 3 months. He's working on his 2nd album now. That's what they're doing with him. He's busy doing what he loves doing & he does it so well. I went to 27 of his shows and wish I could have gone to more. Some people did go to more. Given enough money, I'd have gone to many, many more.

good...but he has kind of a stereotypical modern rock voice, doesnt quite fit the classic rock hes trying to cover, frees version is obviously waaay better

@superlou1s I think he did a fine job. It's the song that made me a fan of David Cook. No, he doesn't sing it exactly like Paul Rodgers, nor should he. It's not a singalike contest. I appreciate how David made the song work for his voice.I was one of those young girls Paula was talking about. In 1970 this song was famous I was 13 years old and loved it. I also love how David did it. I never try to compare the original with a cover, for example Dylan v. Hendrix with All Along the Watchtower?

@superlou1s ...hey Superlou1's..I respect your opinion but it's kind of ironic that Paul Rodgers ended up touring with Queen and singing Freddy Mercury songs. A lot of folks said he didn't hold a candle to Freddy...but I saw the Queen show with Paul and he was awesome. Different, but awesome just the same. IMHO....

I want to see more of David Cook!!! What are they doing with him???? Give him a TV variety show and bring back our favorites that he does so well!!
He's a natural talent!!! Inspired by the past!! I'm envisioning a Tom Jones variety show from the 70s. David clearly respects his elders, he has his own charamisa Please - give him a chance - make it happen. So much talent in a single soul - don't waste it..

terradale: David will be on the Carrie Underwood special on 12/7. He just finished his debut tour & did 154 shows, breaking the previous record for a debut tour by 34 shows. His album went platinum in < 3 months. He's working on his 2nd album now. That's what they're doing with him. He's busy doing what he loves doing & he does it so well. I went to 27 of his shows and wish I could have gone to more. Some people did go to more. Given enough money, I'd have gone to many, many more.
